we took our car in on a Tuesday expecting to have it out on a Wednesday. We were told the problem was a tuneup when we already had it tuned up. We were hoping at this point that they would pull the car back in to re-diagnose, but were told that they already ordered plugs and that seemed to be the path they were sticking to so another day went by by now we are on Thursday. They then re-diagnosed it and said it would be ready Friday morning. We get another call on Friday morning saying another misdiagnosis. We lost 2 1/2 days. We finally pulled the car and took it to our local mechanic. Very disappointed in how this was all handled. read more

Had a timing belt replaced on my 2007 Subaru Forester ($1200). Less than 10,000 later, the belt broke, destroying the motor. The owner refused to stand by his work, resulting in my having to donate the vehicle. Especially disappointing because I had previously had work done at their garage. I have a manual transmission car. You might think they are easier to fix than an automatic transmission car but they are far less common so the body of experience fixing them is not as great and the availability of parts is much less. I have another wonderful experience dealing with DuPage Transmission of Naperville. My daughter left for Iowa City on Friday for a friends graduation weekend. While enroute to Iowa she stopped at the Decalb Oasis for fuel. Uppon leaving the fuel pump the car started bringing and would not shift into park and the car was inoperable. She called in a panic and told us what was hapening. Our daughter doesn't deal with these situations awesomely and threw up. I told here to engage parking brake and turn on the hazards. I would be on my way and will be there in less than 30 mins. As I got there I see she is stopped in the middle of the driveway parking lot and causing a backup at the oasis. I approach the car and ask her to turn off the ignition. "DAD I CAN'T" is her response. I show her how the shift lock over ride is used and get the vehicle into neutral. We push the vehicle into a parking spot and remove her personal items, leave the vehicle unlocked and head back to Naperville. While driving back to Naperville I call Dupage Transmission and speak with Scott. I explain the situation and he gives a suggestion of a flat bed tow company. "Get it towed and we will get it fixed today" Wow a shop willing to stop their other projects to get me back on the road asap! The vehicle waswas back on the road same day and my daughter was able to not cancel her weekend. A true mom & pop establishment that only cares about their customers. This was such a pleasurable experience that I had them complete a few other maintenance items I've been putting off. The vehicle is ready for another 90k. Love this place!!!! I changed the front brakes on my fiancés car and she was convinced that I had done something wrong because she heard a "noise" that was't there before. I called Wally and asked if I could bring the car in for him to take a look. I was on a tight schedule as I only have 1 day off per week. Wally had me drop the car off and I went out to grab lunch in the meantime. The place was packed and had a car on every rack and I thought it was going to be there for more than a day for sure. I got a call from Wally no more than 3 hours later letting me know he had taken a look at the car already. He had quickly diagnosed a loose hub cap and a dented rim. He even took time to lube the back of the new brake pads I put on. He is a great guy and runs a great business. I would refer any friends or family to him for ALL automotive needs. Had taken my wife's '05 Explorer in for a trans rebuild. It had a 2 year warranty that expired in November of 2017. Had some problem with trans in January 2018 and learned that trans needs to be rebuilt again. What a disappointment. 2 months out of warranty...and POOF. BUYER BEWARE! we spent $2k Nov 09 for a transmission overhaul and was given a 2yr/24 k warranty we took car in several months ago because while we were having tires put on our friend pointed out that the plug from the transfer was missing; we had never had any work done prior to this and took it back to DuPage trans ; they put in the plug that wasnt there! and charged us for part and time; now transmission is doing the same thing again; wont shfit from 2nd to 3rd and we contacted Wally (owner) he said to bring it in; then he had one of his workers call to say since it is out of warranty and past the miles he can't do anything about it; except Overhaul it AGAIN!!! and charge us another 2 THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! so in a nutshell.... its going to cost us 4 plus thousand dollars in less than 3 years thanks to DuPAge Transmission! we took the car to AMOCO and they willl do quality work for the same amount with a 3 year warranty. Wally obviosly does not care about his customers or stand behind his work.I will also be reporting this to Better Business Bureau read more
