Can't say enough great things about these incredibly honest, efficient and fair mechanics!!! Found these guys and was so glad I did!!! Initially went in for my daughter's very dimmed headlights--On short notice, Dennis was able to quickly help replace the headlight bulbs, knowing my concerns about my daughter having to drive long distances back and forth to college; he'd also informed me that the lights that were recently put in (not even a year earlier from another shop at a much higher price) what not was installed in her car either! I appreciated his honesty, and as a result just brought my car into their shop today to be fixed-- Dave was awesome and again fixed my car's issues very quickly for a very fair price! These days, with all this inflation and price gouging going on, I would highly recommend Automotive Specialists for fast service and outstanding auto repairs at fair and honest prices!!! read more

Automotive Specialist did some extensive engine work on my 1965 Ford Galaxie. I wanted the work done right. All I can say is WOW! My car runs like new. It prrrs like a kitten. I am so glad I took it there. This is the second time I have had work done and both times they were professional and answered all my questions. I would recommend them to anyone who wants the job done right the first time. D. Kitchen read more

Automotive Specialties has been my go-to place for years and they have been great. However, my power steering went out on my way to work and I went to the closest place. After 3 days the other place said it was a sensor and charged me $343. 10 days later the same problem occurred and they said I needed a new power steering column for $2700!! I called Dave at Automotive Specialties and asked his advice. He mentioned he had recently had a car with the same problem and it was covered under a service bulletin on Hyundai and I should take it there. Dave was right, for a small service fee it was fixed and I saved $2700.00! This is just one of many times I have had my car repaired for less, but this time saving this much money, I really owe a big thanks to Dave. Automotive Specialties is definitely worth going out of your way for service! read more

Dennis Dave and Jake are the best mechanics. They take care of me and my family like we were part of their family. They continually go above and beyond to make sure that you was the customer are comfortable. read more

A heaven sent. Dave was great. Reasonably priced, super friendly, fast, and did a great job. My car over heated and nearly died on the way to a work meeting. I was a little reluctant about dropping my car off to any random place and so far from home (I live in near downtown) but I am glad I brought it here. It's usually a good sign when there are tons of cars out front - where there was. He didn't try to sell me on things that I didn't really need to fix since he realized I was just driving my car until I killed it. No reason to buy a nice new car when you park on the streets of Chicago and someone hits it daily when they don't know how to parallel park (errgghh). He was even able to fix my car a day early so that I would not need to pay an extra day for a rental car, again a bonus. AND there is an Enterprise rental car RIGHT across the street, another bonus. read more

We have been bringing our cars into Automotive Specialists for years now. Their work has been quick and effective. When we have brought in a car, they have correctly diagnosed the problems and given us reasonable options for fixing it. The have done routine maintenance and major repairs. They also do a very good job of explaining the consequences of not fixing something. We consider them fair, honest and reliable. read more

Have been going here since my BMW warranty expired 4 years ago. They know their stuff and Dave is fantastic. I do all routine maintenance and repairs and they use BMW parts. If it's something outside of the scope and Dave feels I should go to BMW he tells me. Honest, fair and works directly with you. Jodie W. read more

My family and I have been going to Dave & Dennis for years. They are always extremely helpful, honest, and fair - what more can you ask for in a mechanic? Highly recommend! read more

Dennis & Dave 1 & Dave 2 have been taking care of my cars for 24+ years, first at their Shell station location at 53 and Butterfield Road, and now at their garage on Ogden Avenue in Lisle. My cars have been a mix of American, German, and Japanese. I make an appointment, pick up the car when it is done, and readily pay the bill. I have a standing order that anything under $200 is to be fixed, without question. Just do it. They have always been EXTREMELY HONEST, and have NEVER tried to over-sell service. read more

I've been bringing four family cars to Dennis and his crew for over 25 years and they are the best. They know what they are doing and you can expect them to recommend what is best -- and you can trust them!!! The entire crew has been together for many, many years - another fact that shouldn't be ignored. Check them out! read more

Great guys that know what they're doing. I've had several cars repaired by them and always go back.

These guys have taken care of my Camry for 4-5 years, and have always been reasonable and down to earth about estimates. When I indicated that I didn't want to invest too much into my aging vehicle, they came up with the most economical solutions. I have used Automotive Specialists repeatedly and recommend them to anyone needing a car fix. It's great to have someone in the car repair business that you can trust. read more

I have used these guys for a number of tough repairs. Dave is as good as it gets and is rarely challenged by any make model or year of vehicle. read more

we have been using Dave and his guys for over 10 years. It can be hard to find a good, honest mechanic sometimes. And they wont overcharge or inflate the service to make more money. We had a great mechanic back in Baltimore that we hated to leave, but we found someone just as good! We have recommended these guys to everyone we know, you wont be disappointed. read more

I've been going there for a number of years now. They're always honest and fair, and get the vehicle done when they say. They've gone as far as driving me home when I had no choice and other ways to go out of the way to help. read more

My wife and I have taken our cars to Dennis & Dave for 20 years, and now our three sons take their cars there. Quality work, almost always done in one day. We trust them. read more

Dave and his crew have kept my car running for over 280K miles. They have always been honest, fair, and thorough with their repairs in the six+ years my family has been going there. I have recommended them to dozens of other people, and they have never steered them wrong! I have sent friends who could have been easy targets (driving expensive cars, very little knowledge of maintenance issues, etc.) but Dave's outfit has never once tried to up-sell them on unnecessary repairs. Not open on weekends, but I will wait for them every time, rather than take my cars anywhere else! read more
