However, I had an appointment scheduled which I arrived 10 mins ahead of time... but I was given no explanation as to why it took 2 hours for a simple oil change. Also, prior to my visit I received a coupon in the mail for $49 oil change full synthetic... only to be told upon my arrival that the coupon only applied to BMW's or Mercedes. They were super helpful and it felt like I was dealing with friends. Compared to alternative shops, their prices are great and they are far more responsive and communicative. I had used Performance Works to service my 2002 540i GT for several years with good experiences. I brought the car to PW needing the steering center link to be replaced. When I got the car back it handled more like a Taurus than a BMW. It had also developed a severe wheel shimmy when braking. I went back and forth to Performance Werks for several months and about $3000 more dollars before the suspension was finally right. The braking shimmy was not fixed. Additionally, during one of the service appointments they called me tell me that my lower radiator hose had become detached and therefore required a new radiator ( P W had replaced a couple years previously). How does a radiator fail in the shop while doing suspension repairs? Cost another $500 for that, but they put in an after market radiator that didn't match to BMW expansion tank and used caulk to attach it. Obviously I haven't been back and wouldn't have bothered to write this except I saw they had a new shop and reasonably good reviews on Yelp. Beware!! read more

My truck is my family lifeline. We go EVERYWHERE with it. It is 11 years old and has 178,000 miles. 3 weeks ago, I was heading out to Aurora when my right front wheel started making a noise over the bumps that caused me concern. I got on my phone and searched for a nearby mechanic. These guys popped up and I drove over. At first, when I walked in, I thought I'd walked into an upscale shop or my wife's favorite nail salon... NO GREASE ANYWHERE, the gentlemen at the desk, Blake & Moe, were very friendly and knowledgeable with an impressive display of training certificates from the likes of Bentley & Bugatti. Which of course made my wallet try to crawl around to my front pocket and HIDE! Next thing I know, they tell me I need to replace the lower control arm and it's done in 1 hour and 15 minutes. The first hour was to go and get the part and come back. Total cost??? $375. The part was $250 and ORIGINAL from NISSAN. I'm trying to see if I can convince them to move their shop closer to the city... THESE GUYS ROCK!!! read more

If my car decides to totally cop out on my one day, I'll pay a tow truck to haul that bad boy out there. Totally worth it. These boys do quality work. I don't know anything about cars, but I do know that I'm not back at their shop a few weeks later for the same problem. In the process of fixing my car, they make no attempt to sell me things I don't need or rip me off. They are totally professional in the way they conduct their business, honest about what I need, physically their appearance is clean-cut and the reception/office area is clean and pleasant. Warning light for DSC Malfunction/Transmission Malfunction on my '08 BMW 328i coupe came up on Friday morning on the way to work. Fearing the worst, I called my man Mike at PerformanceWerks at 11am, and he said come on by. Called me two hours later and explained it was a simple bad crankshaft position sensor. No need for elaborate transmission replacement costing $8k. Mike had the car ready at 945am on Saturday morning. Total parts + 3 hours labor came out to only $470 which was very fair. So I took my 2004 new beetle in for some diagnosis and oil change last week. I told them they could have my car for the day to see what was wrong with the car. My car was having starting issues, shifting issues ( both of these issues intermittent so I wasn't expecting that to be written off immediately) and was vibrating a bit. Pretty normal stuff for an older Volkswagen. So I got there and they all seemed nice enough, dropped my car off and didn't hear a single word for the whole day. I got there the next day at around 930-10 ( mind you they still didn't call about my car so I had no idea what to expect) the next day and the guy who helped me out at the front desk said they didn't look at my car and just did my oil change. Okay that's cool would've been great to know before I spent almost 50 dollars Ubering to all 3 of my jobs the day before because they had my car. I was expecting at least my car to be looked at within that time as I did schedule an appointment over the phone days prior. I felt like me and my car were not a priority. I'm skeptical now if they even changed my oil! Anyways I'm sure if you have a bmw they'll give you priority but if you have a regular German car like me I don't think they give you same treatment, I'm not sure but that's how I felt with my experience. The guy at the desk also offered to call me on Monday to have them further look at my car for 3-4 days as I picked my car up on a Saturday, he said they would arrange a rental for me. Never had a call returned to me this last week from them. Lo and behold, they pieced together multiple used pipes to make my downpipe, And the welds all broke. When i called them about it, the man on th e phone argued saying they didnt make that downpipe and i put a different one on, and i was trying to get my money back. First brought my sons BMW, then my Range Rover and now my Mercedes G63. I am a price conscious shopper so I did my due diligence years back when I called the local BMW service center to have brakes done on my sons BMW. The pricing was outrageous but I only wanted to best so I made appt. I decided to make one call to another European auto expert: Performance Werks. I'm so grateful I did. I couldn't believe their quote was close to half of what BMW quoted. Since then, I have brought all my imports to them. The work is pristine. They use OEM parts, they honor extended warranties, they go above and beyond to help you get your car up and running in a timely manner. My AMG G63 has had some issues recently and the Mercedes Dealer was giving me a hard time about my extended warranty because I didn't buy it from them. I called Performance Werks and of course and they said, "Not a problem, we will have your truck ready tomorrow and we will handle the insurance claim". Incredible! They are so knowledgeable and passionate about the import business you will instantly know your high priced auto is in the right hands. Here is the best part, they are ALWAYS FAIRLY priced. Never once have they let me down. What you will realize once you become a forever customer is that all these years you have been grossly overpaying the service centers of your favorite imports. It's actually sad that these service centers at Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Land Rover etc price gouge loyal customers. I can't express enough how knowledgeable and dedicated these guys are. On July 15, 2011, my 2004 BMW M3 had a fuel leak so I brought it to PerformanceWerks. I had to drive to Colorado from Illinois for my new military assignment. They seemed like a reputable shop. Their recommendation was to change two rubber seals, as this fixes the problem 99% of the time. I trusted their recommendation, which turned out to be a $338.83 mistake. They replaced two rubber gaskets by the fuel pump and fuel sensor, which cost $39 for both of them. They also charged me a $297 for labor just because both of the mechanics worked on it, cutting their time in half! They also said that if this didn't work, they would drop the fuel tank, but that wasn't the likely cause. I was ripped off, finding out that the issue was NOT properly diagnosed. Instead, they take guesses and change out parts that are perfectly fine! I decided to pull the seats off and diagnose it myself. Immediately, I found a small pinhole on the fuel pump where fuel was leaking out. I sealed it with JB Weld (epoxy) because the hole was so small, which cost me $6.00. I didn't want to pay $300-$400 for a new fuel pump if the part was repairable. This process only took me about an hour to do and only because it was the first time for me to take it out. Be careful if you come here because they are very untrustworthy. They charged me double for labor, and they didn't even bother to properly diagnose the problem before repairs. Again, I ended up paying $338.83 for nothing, and I fixed it myself for $6.00 for an hour of my time. read more

So the last issue was regarding my disappointment with service and lack of knowledge. Turns out, it was one employee that caused me to make that assumption. I started going here about 5 years ago when I had my BMW 335i. It was out of warranty so I no longer wanted to overpay at Naperville BMW. Looking for a shop, to work on BMW, they stated they were ex BMW, shop looked clean and orderly. But they performed work that wasn't necessary. I had a squealing noise, they told me belts. Changed belts, noise still there. They told me water pump, changed it, noise still there. They told me power steering motor, I told them no. Took it to BMW they identifed the problem as pump inside transmission. I paid $1000 to performance works, which I should of put towards transmission repair. read more

Worked with Mike to get my Headlight adapter/module fixed on my 2008 BMW 335xi as well as installing new aftermarket headlights. Right from the get go, he was very professional with me. The first time I went in, he did a free look over to see if anything serious was wrong with the car. Then told me that I would need to replace 2 modules with regards to the headlights. Told me to come back in 3-4 days and they would take care of problem. Came back and got work done as well as aftermarket headlights put in. Found out that night that one of the headlights was not working properly. Went back next day and Blake put back my original headlights at no cost and now my headlights are working perfectly. I would recommend these guys for any service you may have with European cars. Saw them work on MB, Jags, BMW, Porsche's, etc. They know what they are doing and are very prompt at finding out what is the actual problem with your car. Mike even offered to have one of his workers to drop me home while the car was being serviced. Definitely would take my car to these guys again if I had any problems in the future. read more

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. I took my BMW to those guys for an overheating issue. They claimed they fixed it and gave it back to me. The car had another overheating issue a couple days later, and my wife got stuck in the middle of the road. Had the car towed back to performanceWerks, and they said the issue was totally different and had nothing to do with what they fixed, and wanted to charge me an outrageous amount of money for fixing the same problem. I was so mad, I had the vehicle towed and fixed by someone else, and haven't had an overheating issue since. These guys either did not fix anything at all the first time, and charged me for doing nothing, or don't know what the heck they're doing. This place sets the standard for what an auto repair experience should be. Mike and Blake are professional, knowledgeable, friendly and trustworthy. I've been brining my 2008 BMW here for the last 2 years and I will never consider going anywhere else. They've done both small and large jobs on my car. I've never been pushed into any extras. In fact, when I had my valve cover gasket replaced earlier this year Mike informed me when I picked it up that the cover itself broke when he removed it. He explained that this is common for a high mileage car and the plastic becomes brittle. Any other shop or dealership would have charged me for this part, but not Performancewerks. Mike owned the problem and replaced this rather expensive part without so much as thinking about charging me for it. This is how you build trust and this is why I will never take my car anywhere else. Their labor rates are more than reasonable and I've never been charged a "diagnostic fee" like the dealers do. I recently purchased a 1987 BMW 635 - a car I've sought after for many years, so naturally I was in need of a knowledgeable shop and crew that would be a good fit for maintenance and any potential future repairs. In my initial conversation with Blake he demonstrated a genuine interest not only in earning my business, but also in my particular vehicle. As we set up the appointment via phone, Blake's demeanor took into consideration the 635's relative obscurity and the fact that this is my first BMW. We discussed the various lubrication options and their significance (i.e. synthetic vs. regular, oil weights, etc) and never did Blake make me feel uncomfortable or intimidated. Upon arrival at Performance works I was greeted warmly by Blake and given a tour of the extremely clean and professional looking facility. We have two BMW's in our family, a new 535i xDrive and a 2008 335xi. We only trust them to Mike at Performance Werks. My first experience came with the vehicle that was out of warranty, the 335, when my water pump failed and the nearest BMW dealer quoted me over $2,000. They also misdiagnosed an oil leak and quoted me another $800 to likely fix a problem they knew didn't exist. Per a friend's recommendation, I took the car to Mike and he ended up saving me more than half on the water pump (labor included) and actually correctly diagnosed the oil leak to be a $12 rubber gasket - $788 cheaper than the dealership! I also just had him install performance brakes on the same vehicle and replace a faulty ignition coil. He properly bedded in my new brakes so they perform properly throughout their life. He's saved me thousands of dollars in parts and labor and made the post-warranty world much less daunting for my 335i. What's more, Performance Werks can perform warranty work on your BMW or any other European machine you may own - great so you don't have to deal with the scummy service "advisers" at local dealerships. Every time I pick up my car it is just as clean as it went in. Though Mike and his team likely have to adjust my seats to comfortably drive the car, they always return them to my memory position and never change any settings or the volume of the radio. On top of having tons of knowledge and experience and performing absolute top-quality work, they pay attention to the little things because they care about their clients. They are among the best in their industry and I would recommend giving them your business. read more
