AND DON'T CALL THEIR TOWING SERVICE EITHER. the towing service dropped my car and it jumped the curb and i still was charged the full towing amount of $164. they said they did a vehicle inspection when my main complaint was a noise coming from the front passenger side of my car and that wasn't addressed until after i went to pick my car up and it was still making the noise. i paid over $500 plus the towing so over $700 for them to not even fix my initial complaint and when i told them the noise was still there when i went to pick it up, they told me "there's no noise, we did a test drive and there was no noise," and i had to show them outside when i was backing it out of the parking spot by two feet, it was STILL MAKING THE NOISE. they claimed the noise was from my REAR ROTORS AND BRAKES AND THEY REPLACED THEM AND CHARGED ME. they claimed the noise was gone after that and it WASNT. they took it to the back for five minutes, came back, and said they adjusted something underneath and the noise was gone. I have purchased tires at this location many times. I recently purchased tires and requested a safety check on the used truck I recently purchased. The manager showed me a list of repairs that they said were needed. I had a mechanic install a new drive belt on the truck one day earlier. The manager produced a list of repairs that he stated were needed based upon the high mileage of the truck. On the list was NEEDS NEW BELT! I went to Firestone for a new battery. of course they recommended extras- new air filter, wiper blades. Called back a short time later to say the technician "nicked" the radiator so they had to replace it. very surprised to say the least. How is that even possible? called in the afternoon and was told the new radiator had a leak so it would be the next day. No communication. New person at the desk. I was furious. The next morning I called and Emily said they were working on it. I said they must have put in a used radiator to have a leak and she said no the technician caused the leak with the fan belt, whatever that means. So she has a new technician working on the 2nd new radiator. Called to say radiator was in and they were checking it out. Called an hour later to say it was ready and I picked it up. Within a block started hearing a very loud metal grinding noise. Back again and technician found the bracket was misaligned. Employees were yucking it up in the work area and didn't realize you could hear them in the waiting area. Didn't offer me any discount or refund. To top it off the survey on the invoice wouldn't allow me access. I called the 800 # and gave this summary to Jessica and she asked if I wanted a refund (yes thank you) and a regional mgr would contact me. Hard to believe they are in business. Overcharged from the beginning. Didn't fix the problem. Guy at the desk talks over customer, won't listen and hangs up! I will NEVER go back so long as that *** still works there. Told them I had low fuel pressure and already had a new fuel pump. But they insisted I had a defective one. Another pump and more cash later and I'm stranded across town. There is NO communication from the front desk to the mechanics. Only decent person there is Emily. Try and charge extra for the "diagnosis" but backs it off then claims I was the one who said it needed a fuel pump. Absolutely the worse experience in a shop in all my 58 years. Wish I could give them ZERO stars. What a stooge, yelling at the customer and then hanging up on him. He listened to NOTHING I tried to tell him. If he has a wife I'm sure she hates him. read more

To help my son, I took his car to Firestone in Danada West in Wheaton, IL last Saturday for a scheduled oil change. When the desk attendant checked me in, she stated that the oil change would cost $110 for a synthetic oil change...I was amazed at the high price, but since I had no previous experience with Firestone and synthetic oil I proceeded with the oil change. Upon completion of the job by Firestone, I checked some alternate oil change establishments and determined that Firestone was anywhere from $40-50 higher for this simple oil change procedure. What a catastrophe and a rip off by Firestone during this period of unparalleled inflation in the USA. I advised my son and determined that this pricey oil change would be the last one that Firestone ever does for any of our cars. I noted that there was a quote on the wall of the Firestone store by Mr. Firestone. It stated, "I believe that fundamental honesty is the key to business." Looks like Mr. Firestone's principle for customer concern fell on deaf ears at Firestone Danada West in Wheaton. Of interest, upon checkout, I was advised that the car would soon need tires and a battery. Do you think for one instant that I would ever consider Firestone for either tires, batteries or another oil change??? Firestone, you have lost a repeat customer with your unabashed price gouging...too many other establishments around for me to ever let you service our cars again in any fashion. I have been coming here for years without incident until August. Had an oil change and asked for my car to be checked out and to see if tires needed to be rotated. When car was done I asked if they found anything that needed to be addressed or if the tires needed to be rotated. Was told everything checked out and that the tires did not need to be rotated. Did not receive the normal checklist showing what was checked and the status. While driving home something was dragging on the ground making alot of noise. They forgot to secure the splash guard under the engine when they did the oil change. The car had to be towed to another Firestone close to my house so that it could be fixed. Not acceptable. Recently I took my car to the Lansing Firestone because my rear brakes were making noise. I needed pads, rotors and a caliper to the tune of $863. I was shocked because I just took my car to the Wheaton Firestone a month prior and was told there were no issues. I asked more than once when i picked up my car and was told "everything checked out". Instead of just needing pads I needed serious repairs to my rear brakes at an expensive price which could have been avoided if i had known about the issue. I commute downtown and rarely drive my car so for these brakes to be in such bad condition they would have had to have been bad for a very long time. I called Wheaton Firestone to complain and the manager argued and spoke over me and never took any responsibility for what happened. I am no longer a customer and do not recommend taking your car here. read more

They did an inspection for free, and then told me that while I could replace them, they are probably OK for a while. Amazing - they could have easily sold me the whole brake job. I wish I could this a negative rating but for now we will have to stick with a one. I made an appointment to get an oil change and my tires rotated. I said I just wanted the coupon service as I was out of work. The guy went over ever everything and "quietly" mentioned the cabin filter as if it was part of the process. I got stuck paying an extra $49 that I didn't want or need at the time. Then he quotes me $900 on new brakes telling me my back brakes are metal on metal, your mechanic could see through the brake pads. I know what it sounds like when they are grinding. Nice try. I did not get them fixed. I took them to my friend's neighbors shop and while they need to be replaced, your people lied about the shape the rotors were in. They weren't grinding at all. THEN, to top this off, I am going in for a simple oil change. Something you do on a regular basis!!Engine sounds fine prior to my arrival and when I leave there my engine is now rattling and acceleration is hesitating. Pretty sure you guys don't know what you're doing. I'll never return and be sure to let everyone know in Wheaton and Warrenville where NOT to go. I went in to get my hood latch and serpentine belt replaced, as well as to get a general tune-up and tire rotation. My car came back and the check engine light went on. I brought it back and they charged me $100 to take a look to see what was wrong. Then they had to fix it, saying they thought it was an emissions issue. I brought it home. The check engine light went on again. I took it back (they didn't charge me for the diagnostic this time). Another emissions issue. May I add that I never had the check engine light come on ever before, and my car had recently passed emissions. Firestone denied that anything they did could have caused the issue, which it could all have been coincidence, but seriously....? $1,500 later.... It's been two months. I went to get an oil change at Oil Zone, and the new hood latch is no longer functioning properly. My belts are squealing again. And I'm afraid to go live out their warranty because who knows what my car may need to get fixed next. I never want to see my check engine light on again, and the best way to do that seems to be avoiding Firestone. I overheard my neighbor talking to another neighbor today about his check engine light going on after being serviced. I asked him where he got it serviced. He was out $1000 as well when he had just gone in to get his tires rotated and his car tuned up. I'll let you take a guess as to what his answer was... read more

The most dishonest Firestone ever!!! Danada in Wheaton. My 80 year old mother, who's awareness or forgetfulness is not her problem. She bought tires from them a year ago, which constantly go low. Which happened again Monday. So she went in. They told her she needed a new battery and her check engine light was on. A new battery had been installed a year ago and was working just fine. Disappointing experience here. Greeted by a man who clearly was not friendly and didn't care if we knew it. We were told the wait time for our car and when we returned, it hadn't been touched and we were told it was up next which would be another hour. Would have made other arrangements if we had known up front and not wasted 2 1/2 hours. Been there before. Lesson: have an employee that is friendly as the first person a customer deals with. First time I brought my car in for issues with squeaky brakes in spring. When I got my car back the brakes were still squeaky. We brought them in a second time to find out I needed new brake pads. After getting my car back again, the brakes were still squeaky. Thinking 3rd time was the charm, they found nothing wrong with the brakes but they were still squeaky and my car started making a clunking sound when I would reverse. Looked into it and it was an issue with either the axels or motor mounts, so brought it in for a 4th time and they said the "brake pads were flapping" which makes no sense. Got my car back the 4th time and it still squeaks and clunks. Long story short, save your time and money and avoid this location. read more

This is second time I have gone to Firestone in Wheaton on Butterfield. Both times my total charge was $0. First time was about a year ago when I brought in a 17 year old mini van I inherited. It served its purpose for hauling plenty of stuff, but was having electrical problems among other things. To make a long story short Firestone found a lot of problems - some safety concerns, others just expensive but needed. They felt and I felt it wasn't worth it. I ended up scrapping the van since it was on last legs anyway and probably would have been a big money pit especially for a second car, but there was no charge for looking it over. My latest experience was today. My rear passenger tire was leaking air from the valve stem. I called to get an estimate and check on how busy they were. Estimate was about $30 over phone and could get done ASAP. When I got there - Emily checked the valve stem in the parking lot and was able to just tighten the core. Process of going in and then Emily checking it took maybe 5 minutes. Once again. Said no charge. Very easily could have taken in the shop, let me sit and wait and then charge me something for it, but nice that a shop is very reputable. I have no hesitation recommending both Emily and the Firestone in Wheaton for both the service and honesty I have experienced. read more

I took my car into Firestone 3 times to stop an increasing belt squeal in cold temperatures. Dropped car off overnight per Tech so it could be started in AM. This was not done so they did not hear it. As sound changed to constant rumble at all temperatures I left it a 3rd time and no repair was still done. Went to a shop with ASE Master certification who immediately confirmed the problem and another issue with my rear brakes missed by Firestone. Both repaired within 6 hours at my new shop. read more

I picked up a screw in a 6 month old tire. This shop patched it for me. The very next business day, I had a complete blow out on 290 and had to change the tire as cars buzzed by. When I spoke with the service writer, he expressed the patch could've failed, but due to tire damage, no way to know. When I questioned the manager, he claimed it was coincidence! Not a chance. This was a brand new tire. I'm 49 years old and drive 25,000 miles per year. Never had a blow out. I was forced to buy a new tire. Will never go back! read more

Do not go to this firestone. An outside independent investigation company found lug nuts are over tightened and caused major damage when a wheel came off when driving. Bridgestone/firestone blamed a wheel coming off from hitting something on road. How can that happen from zero mph turning onto Butterfield road????Firestone/Bridgestone is not taking blame even though the report proves quality of workmanship and over torque of more than 2o% obviously we're tightened with impact not hand torqued properly as the manager stated. read more

This just doesnt happen anymore! On Friday, Oct. 15th, at 4:30 in the afternoon no less, we (daughter, Mom & Dad) packed our SUV with two dogs and full load of tailgating gear to visit our son at an out of state college for Homecoming weekend, when, to our surprise, after being fully loaded - with the dogs - our SUV didn't start in our driveway. Our neighbor (kudos to Phil) jumped it and we went directly to Firestone in Wheaton, IL and encountered Manager Eric Pasquale. Eric is awesome!! Despite having a full schedule and no advance call or reservation from us, without hesitating Eric jumped in to help. And help he did. His team member "Nar" (also a great guy) replaced the battery within less than 5 minutes (literally) and tested their work to determine that we had an alternator problem. Eric was on the phone with a car part dealer immediately and within 20 minutes, he had a new alternator delivered, Nar installed it as if it were his own family with a problem and we were on our way. Rather than a cancelled weekend because of a car in the shop for repairs, we were delayed for only 45 minutes. All the while, Eric couldn't have been any nicer! We offered to pay "emergency extra," which were kindly decliend, and instead got a discount! These guys are the best! Go to them! .... My experience at this Firestone was very disappointing!! My 1995 Land Cruiser had overheated. Firestone was the closest mechanic so I asked them to take a look. They charged 100.00 for a diagnostic. Then they told me that my car was not worth repairing. I should donate the car to Kars for Kids or have it towed to a junkyard. The manager said that the repairs would cost several thousand dollars. In order to access the area that needed repair, my transmission would need to be taken out and the engine possibly raised. He also mentioned it would be difficult to find parts due to the cars age. I decided to have my car towed home so that I could think about the next step and did indeed call Kars for Kids to donate it. The day before our car was to be picked up my very smart and practical husband was able to drive it over to our regular mechanic to get a second opinion. Our mechanic charged us 290.00 to repair it. Oops actually it was 340.00 including the oil change. I will be giving him 5 STARS !! The Land Cruiser is running beautifully and I will never ever go to a Firestone, not even for tires. My family has been bringing cars here for the past 15 years for tires, oil changes, brakes, etc., and was very satisfied with the service until recently. Wife's recent tire buy was frustrating. I provided tire size, but when arrived at appointment, they had ordered wrong tires. Next day back again, , new tires with alignment caused car to wander to the left. Back again, they got it right. This week went for rotation and oil change on another car, discussed rotation when scheduling, at arrival, and again half way thru. When car was done, no rotation. I paid for services that were unfinished. It took an hour for the employees of this establishment to repair my tire, take off my spare and put the repaired tire back on my car. This didn't happen, I opened my trunk the next day to find my tire sitting in my trunk not in the approprate spot designated for my tire, the tire was not filled completly and obviously they hadn't switched out the spare (which is a full size spare and rim) so basically I paid firestone to sit in the waiting room while they did nothing and tried to sell me new tires eventhough I didn't need them yet!! I'd give this place ZERO STARS if I could. This place is a flipping joke. i went there today ONLY because my regular mechanice is closed on Sunday, and I had what i considered an emergency situation. I had a leaking brake line and a leaking fuel line. This is my second car which runs impeccably for it's age. Well, first off, they charge to look at it. My regular guy doesn't do that, STRIKE ONE. Next, almost 2 hours later, after my friend, who is pretty skilled at fixing cars (a fuel line is something I wanted to leave to a pro), went with to drop off the car, and told him where the leaks were coming from....he , KEN, says "we are still looking at your car". I hung up, and told my friend, you wanna bet this will be a $3,000 estimate? STRIKE TWO. Sure as shit, when he called, the guy, JIM, rudely, told me, to donate my car, he specifically told me my car was going straight to 1-877-kars-4-kids. That it was a junkbox, etc. and it needed basically everything but an engine and trans. Give me a fu**ing break! He says it's all rusted under there. DUH! It's an old car! I didn't know that myself, because I'm an idiot! NOT! You know what, I am NOT a frigging moron, it'll be going to my regular guy, and I bet by the end of the week, my car will be having the 2 leaks fixed, and I won't pay more than $300.00. I had to get outta there before I ended up in jail! STRIKE THREE! I mean, they wanted to fix things that aren't even wrong with my car! AND, they broke a second line on my brakes too. What we need here is the BBB to shut this hellhole down. These are the same crack monkeys who couldn't figure out THIS VERY SAME CAR needed a computer module, which oh, my regular guy found, and it cost me a whopping $100.
