I called inquiring about headlights for a Mazda 3 and the woman who answered (Tammy) couldn't have been more helpful. She identified the part I needed and set it aside for me to pick it up later that day. She said her and her staff would be more than happy to install them when I came in. When I called later that day, Matt told me that Tammy had left for the day, but he confirmed the order that Tammy had set aside and checked to make sure they had the correct lights for my car. He again offered to install them. He finished in about five minutes saving me time and frustration. Matt was courteous, knowledgeable and very thorough. He made the install seem so simple. As a girl who knows nothing about cars...I really appreciate stores like this. Last winter my "check engine" light came on so I called to see if they do readings. I live very close to this location and I get my car fixed at a place in the city near where I used to live. I didn't have time to bring it all the way out there to get it looked at. The man who I spoke with was very friendly and told me to bring it over and yes, they do check this for free. They have convenient store hours so I brought it over, and got everything checked out along with a print out to bring to my repair guy. Last night the pin broke out of my wiper blade - of course the evening of the first snow of the season so I brought it over, the got me the blades, and put them on. Easy Peasy. This will be my "go to" place for all my car needs! read more

This is an update to my previous review on Autozone, Lilse, IL. I have upgraded rating from 4-stars to 5-stars due to excellent service and staff knowledge from Randy. Background We bought a new battery from Autozone 2 weeks ago and we soon found that the battery was bad and returned to Autozone for a replacement. Randy the staff whom we dealt with recognized me immediately and apologize for the bad battery. He quickly got us a new battery and swapped out the bad one. The Extra Mile So here's where Randy shines as a great customer service person. He make sure that the replacement battery is good, tested the cables are ok and even tested the alternator to make sure that is working correctly. I would give NO stars if it was possible. I use this location about two to three times a week. Lately when I go there I ask for one thing and they been giving me the wrong parts. Well the icing on the cake was today. I called this morning and some kid answers the phone and I start asking him for a part I need. Well to make a long story short I asked the kid for a solenoid and the kids response was "how do you spell solenoid". So I asked him if he was serious and he responds to me in a laughing matter. I spend an easy 700.00-1,000.00 there a month and now I guarantee you I will never walk in that place again. UPDATE: So I went in the other day to purchase something and I spoke to the manager. She seems to run a tight ship. This is my closet auto parts store so its really convenient for me. I will definitely keep going back if things keep going the way they did on my last visit. As a passionate car guy who knows his way around an engine, Ive always been hesitant to It trust the auto parts chain stores with anything but looking up a part on the computer. But, They've been redeemed! It was cold,it was rainy and our alternator went out on our work truck on the way to Joliet from fox lake area. Pablo (an autozone employee) didn't hesitate to come out in the rain and test our alternator.He set us up with the tools we needed while he charged our battery and I got the alternator changed out quickly. It's really nice to have people just want to help you out as oppose to people doing the bare minimum of their job. I had a terrible experience with Autozone in Lisle. A middle-aged man with white hair, white beard, white shirt and black glasses, (the manager?) set the tone for possibly the worst customer care I've ever received. My daughter-in-law called the Autozone in Westmont where she bought a battery that is now going dead. They referred her to the Lisle store, told her the they had 3 BMW batteries in stock and that her mother-in-law would have no problem returning it at all. The first thing the man said when I told him the problem was, "Who sent you here?" I told him and his response was, "That figures." Then, he rudely demanded the information. I gave him the owner's manual to which he sighed in exasperation. He told me he had "only" 3 in stock, and that if it wasn't the battery, he wouldn't be able to replace it. Another employee in dark work clothes asked "How do you know it isn't the alternator?" I told him it held the charge while it was running. Then, "How do you know it isn't the starter?" I said because it catches and there is no grinding or any characteristic whines or abnormal sounds when starting it. I further explained that it had to be jumped twice this morning. I said maybe it was a bad cell. He again reminded me that if the test came back normal, they wouldn't be able to swap the battery. I didn't tell them that like the girl on My Cousin Vinny, my brothers are mechanics, my father was a mechanic, my uncles were mechanics, etc, and that I worked in an auto/diesel repair shop for my father, but what if I didn't? I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO ANSWER THOSE QUESTIONS. They ignored me for another 1/2 hour while they took care of all male customers, passing the time of day and occasionally on a first-name basis. When the store was empty, the guy in the white shirt muttered, "I'll have to wait on these guys now," whatever that meant, and started to restock shelves. I could feel my blood pressure rising and asked them when they thought they might get to the car. White shirt: Well, I have to wait on this phone call. Blue shirt: I guess I could do it. They exchanged a few more words, and finally blue shirt grabbed the battery tester and whistled the whole while he checked the battery. "Nothing wrong here," he said and waltzed back in. I told him I would definitely be calling corporate. He told me to go ahead. I can't wait until Monday. If you're a woman, or if you're a man who wouldn't want his wife, mother, sister or daughter treated like that, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

This was my first and last time at the Lisle Auto Zone. I am a person who believes in good customer service and was treated very poorly by an employee at this location. I am not sure if he was having a bad day or what. He seemed very angry and came across very rude. I am in the retail industry as well and no matter how bad of a day I have, I never take it out on the customer. #1, they are future repeat business and #2 word of mouth-would never want them to tell people about the bad experience they had with me. If you could rate this as high as a thousand stars, I would. The service I received from the manager Tammy and her staff was incredible. Tammy is wonderfully knowledgeable about cars and the products at Auto Zone. On my first visit I was so pleased as she informed me about batteries and how to make the best choice for my car. There was absolutely no hard sell from her as she offered a variety of options. I was so pleased they put in the new battery and disposed of the old one at no extra charge. My most recent visit was yesterday. My hood was not closing properly. At first Tammy thoroughly cleaned the latch (I have a very old car) . She was able to assess the problem in a timely manner. Not knowing much about cars, I could have been taken for a whole new latch and cable system. But, no. Tammy and her team deducted the problem was only with the pull inside the car that releases the latch. They were able to promptly repair the problem. I am so thrilled to have a Auto Zone close by knowing I am dealing with honest people who put the customers needs first. I highly recommend this place to all. I especially recommend to people such as myself who are not car savvy and need to have staff who educate as well as accommodate the customer. Tried to return wiper blades that had broken few weeks after buying them but unfortunately did not have the receipt. Two separate people said they could not go far back in the system to see if I actually bought them at the store. The owner was a jerk, must've thought I'm trying to run some ring of exchanging wiper blades all around town. I like AutoZone but I will not be bringing my business back here ever again! They have excellent customer service staff is younger but very knowledgeable and very willing to go the extra mile and help even if it means coming out to the parking lot to take a look at your vehicle which every company claims/indoors but nine times out of 10 they make it very clear that they don't want to do that these guys will go out it's 10 below zero and help you out even install when she wipers and never had any issues I'd recommend to any good shopper/yelper read more

Was having intermittent failure to start in my old Honda. After several attempts at other stores, I fortuitously had another bad experience with it starting while in the vicinity of the Lisle AutoZone. Matt and Ben were extremely helpful, quickly diagnosed the issue as a battery failure. They not only didn't try to oversell me, Matt also recommended that I take the car to where I had bought the battery as the most economical solution (battery was only 2 yrs old). As time was a factor, I elected to purchase from AutoZone and am very happy with the outcome. Matt even replaced several burnt out light bulbs that I had been neglecting. Called in Saturday morning to reserve rear brake pads & rotors for my vehicle. When I stopped in on my way home from work, they had no record of my hold and made me wait while they look up the part and pull them, took an additional 20 minutes before being on my way. Next day Sunday, after removing wheels and brakes, I discover the pads they sold me where for the front. I called and the person acted like they could care less. No apology. Since this is my only vehicle, I put it all back together and drive the 6 miles back to the store. Again, no apology, no concern for my trouble. He brings out another set and they are a cheaper set with no warranty. After explaining again what I wanted, they finally produced the correct set and paid the difference and drove the six miles back home to put the new braves in. All in all, I spent twenty minuets Saturday and almost an hour on Sunday time lost, Auro Zone trying to sell me a cheap set of pads, and no acknowledgement of my inconvenience and absolutely no offer of compensation for my time or trouble. I gave this store 2 stars only because they looked up the information I needed at the time... I have been to this location 2 times, and both visits were terrible. Today I went in to get a new battery, I told him that my car was running in the parking lot because it died and I got it jumped and after they looked up my car information I asked if he could help me put it in and he told me they one battery that costed over 200 dollars and he "hopes I dont choose it because it would take 30 minuets and he doesn't have time to stand in the cold for that long"..... there was one customer in the store at the time who was being helped by the other employee... he had time he was just lazy, bad service once again, I recommend to anyone that needs autozone for anything go to the one on Belmont in Downers Grove.. read more

Great great place! Every time I've gone there, the guys are always so helpful! Today we had to stop to change a bulb in our car and Alonso was very cool! He came outside with his tools to help us change the bulb. These cars now a days aren't as easy to do something so simple so its nice to know we don't always have to take the car to the dealer, especially for such a minimal task! read more

Customer service and satisfaction to the fullest. My car was overheating while on the expressway I let it sit for about 30 mins. Used my phone to find the nearest Autozone and it brought me to this location. Tammy helped me and was so knowledgeable of cars. She helped me locate the problem. Tammy and Fernando helped me out and was able to get my car back up and running with no over heating problems. If I could give this a MILLION stars I would. I am always happy leaving this store, however, I went to their sister (or brother) store near my work today and was very disappointed in the customer service I received. I was snickered at and was not asked if I needed anything else or had any questions. I won't return to the Downers Grove store on 63rd street but I will return to this Lisle store. read more
