Well, I did not buy a car from River View Ford, but I would still recommend them. My car was totaled by an uninsured driver that ran into my rear end. Went to John Hennessey on the recommendation of a friend who had bought 5 cars from River View. I wanted a used Lexus. They gave me a loaner used car (one of their few Lexus used autos) to test out for the weekend. Price was more than fair, car was fine -- but too small for me. Just too darn small. But you don' t know till you get in and drive around for a bit. They delivered the car to the BNSF Metra station of my choice, and when I called John H and told him I fell in love with a used Infiniti (almost by accident, just stopping into another dealer to kick the tires--but the heart wants what it wants) they came to get the car where I was - at my sister's, about 1/2 hour from Oswego. This, after I used their car for almost 2 days. And I am almost ashamed to say, the last morning of which I shopped for other cars. If I was a Ford man, I would make a beeline to Riverview Ford. I recently received new plates from the state, got the front plates on ok but had major issues with the back plates. I stopped by River View Ford to check if quick lane service was available to help me. Quick Lane was closed so I stepped into main show room. Explained my situation and a very kind lady assured me someone would help me. Two very nice young men attempted to get the plate off but it would not budge. Tom Julian came out to assist them. All three were very kind and after much effort got the old plate on and the new plate on. I can't express how kind and helpful they all were and I am extremely thankful. When I went to River View Ford, I had no idea what to expect. I was hesitant to trust the salespeople, only because of my prior experience with other dealerships. What came next, was a team of people who did everything they could to get me into a brand new vehicle, that brought great peace of mind, and safety. They actually cared about me as an individual. Ahhhh what a relief. Props goes to Rich! We had to do the majority of the talking over the phone as we live 2hrs away which went smooth. We that way knew we were walking into the deal where we wanted it already. We get there and the car had a little extra damage (scraps and dents) than pictures showed so they took a few extra bucks off without even arguing it with us. Car also had an airbag warning on (airbag sensor) which is "common" with the Subaru Foresters. (We bought a used one here) - and they are taking care of any of the costs for the repair. Which they also didn't even argue and was their offer. I'm really happy with how things went here. Everyone including the finance guy (Gary!) was extremely helpful and nice. We walked out very happy and they took care of any issues we had with 0 arguments. Maybe it is cause we're out in the Country vs our home area... but boy oh boy that was a nice relief with a good experience. Very happy overall with this dealer. read more

This was the second most painless car purchase I have EVER made (first one you can't really beat as my grandmother bought it for me HA HA ) We were treated more than fairly. Their financing department was able to beat the APR of the loan we had secured elsewhere. So we went with the FORD financing. Not only were we treated fairly, they were able to come down even further on a sale price when we were negotiating. (And I researched the price of this car all the way to hell and gone), - this was the lowest priced Ford Flex that I had found searching even as far as Wisconsin from where I live!!! - all the others were at LEAST $2k more with 2x the mileage. Honestly, the entire experience reminded me a lot of the Saturn purchases I had made in the past- low pressure- there was supplemental stuff that Ford had to offer, but it was "here's what it is, you don't have to buy it, but we have to offer it". There was none of the slick ridiculous "let me ask my manager" and then they leave you waiting for 1/2 an hour. No, in fact, our sales guy, brought over the manager for us to ask him questions instead of playing games. . - Truthfully, we could have signed the papers last night, however, I wanted to sleep on it, and my children were acting like banshees because we had only anticipated test driving and not applying for financing. (had we known we would have hired a sitter!!!) I could not show my enthusiasm for my new vehicle yesterday when we were test driving, (because you're well, supposed to "play it cool" ) but lemme tell you. I am more than pleased. We fought all the way there to sign the papers tonight on who got to drive it home. :D (I WON) We were told they MIGHT have the possibility of getting us out of our other car which we greatly dislike because of the bad experience we had at a chevy dealer purchasing it. (really, honestly, had we had a good experience i'd probably like that other car more. :P ) That only endeared them further to me. I wasn't made to feel unworthy because I'm a woman- In fact, I was the one doing the majority of the question asking and negotiating! I bought a 2019 Transit connect from this location in early September. During the first week I owned it, I noticed there was a bar code decal and what appeared to be adhesive residue on the top of the van (which is still there). I figured it's not important, no big deal, Ill just peel it off and clean it up later. Fast forward to today and I get the first real good, close-up look at the top of the van. It turns out the spots, of what I though was dirty adhesive residue, were actually chips in the paint right down to the bare metal. Remember, these spots were here from the beginning, I just thought they were dirty areas, NOT CHIPPED PAINT. Ford claims they do an inspection on every new vehicle, but clearly they didn't inspection the top of my van as indicated by the decals, adhesive residue and damage they failed to notice and clean up. Ford is not willing to take responsibility. They claim it happened when the vehicle was in my possession, in spite of the PROOF showing otherwise. Since, they wont do the right thing and take responsibility, this will potentially come out of my pocket to the tune of $600 as quoted by one body shop. Another shop said it looked like paint delamination. I'm going to have to take care of this before my roof starts rusting through, with no help from Ford. I guess they pay more attention to, and prioritize, their showroom vehicles. The lowly transit work van isn't important enough for them to care. Be careful and do your own inspections. Look at EVERYTHING, even the roof. If you can't see the roof, make them bring out a ladder. If they scratch your vehicle with the ladder and you don't notice until you drive off the lot, it's now your financial burden to get it fixed. Some of the worst service ever. I went in quite awhile ago just wanting to quickly take a look at some vehicles for sale as I was in the market. I came in looking quite disheveled- though only because I had been working hard! - the salesman was very disrespectful, using sarcasm and a mocking tone directed at me. I really wanted to see a car they had elsewhere but he said he would only bring it in if i was really interested and wanted to buy it. I said forget it of course. another time at the service center they were trying to track down a problem with my shorting radio. After several hours they said my computer or something had to be replaced and it would be like $900. They charged $100 to tell me this. Turns out there was a loose connection to my antenna. I agree, this dealer does not even come close to my expectations and the quality of Ford. I purchased my F-250 Super Duty from this location. When I looked at and test drove the truck I was told "this was the owners kids car, and all work has been done here." That recently became a huge lie when I purchased a camper trailer. There was no way to turn off the rear parking aid. When brought into Joe Cotton Ford for service, I was informed the park assist was aftermarket and not a Ford part. The work to install the sensors was done very unprofessionally. Rust forming around the sensors that I had to cut because the tone would blare in my ear when reversing the trailer. Just don't purchase or service your car here if you care about your vehicle. Take it from us. read more

This is my second car I've ever purchased, and also the second that I have purchased through Riverview Ford. The first time I purchased a car, it was a Ford Escape in 2008. They were the only people who were able to get a car financed for me. I had no established credit at the time, and had been denied at 4 different dealerships except for a buy here pay here kind of place, and I didn't want to go that route. We did spend the entire day there that time, but that was due to the finance department and the owner negotiating until we got a finance offer. I live in Chicago now, but made the drive when it was time for a newer car again. I purchased another Ford Escape last night. This time was much easier than last time. I have established credit and so financing was no problem. Drew was the Salesperson that helped me. He was friendly and accommodating. We did come with financing offer already pre-approved, that made things easier. We were in and out within an hour and a half. Love the new car, love this dealership. The salesman also did not tell me that some of my options that I requested were not on the car. I got a terrible deal from Ford Credit as well. We needed our rear bearings and brake pads replaced, and the staff at River View Ford treated us fairly, honestly and kindly. Not only were we given a fair quote, but the staff worked quickly to make the repairs. When I returned to the dealership to pickup our Explorer, I had our 13-month-old son with me. Several members of the staff helped me transfer our carseat and stroller and even gifted my son a mini soccer ball as well as a large golden retriever stuffed animal (of which my son hugged the whole way home). Went to get my truck serviced and felt very uncomfortable sitting in the waiting area since most of the employees were walking around without any type of face coverings. The waiting room was as hot . Never again will I EVER take my vehicle to River View Ford. I took my Dodge Journey in the first time because of a noise I kept here. Well, they couldn't find the noise, but added air to my tires, which I appreciated. Problem was they forgot to put my end caps to my tires. I had to go back several days later after I noticed it so they could put some on. The second time I went because I still kept hearing the same noise AND only after the supervising mechanic found the noise did they agree that there was something wrong with it...any way as I was driving away my "Batterys Saver Mode On" came on. They told me that that happened because of all the times they had turned it off and on and would go off after a couple of minutes. Well, not only did it not go off, but I had to replace my battery AND my alternator. THEY TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY. The third time I took it back so that they could fix the noise, I noticed that I don't know why, but they had apparently opened up my hood for some reason and broken in three places my wiper hose. I brought it to their attention and they told me that they had not done it. I told them that I knew they had because my husband and I both worked on changing the battery and alternator and we never touched that area. Anyway, when I took it back for the noise, they told me that they could replace my hose for me, but that it was going to cost me 100!!!! I was like why did I have to pay anything??? It wasn't my fault! Then right now because I hadn't replaced the hose because it hadn't rained, my husband calls me to tell me that he just took my dodge to a mechanic only to have been told that the previous mechanic who worked on my truck, either intentionally pulled on both of the little spouts where the fluid comes out to wet the windshield or may have done it intentionally! Also the whole part of where those little ejector spouts are has been screwed off and now ha to be fixed too! I should've checked ALL this when I went to pick up my truck last month! I shouldn't of left without checking it! I'M SO MAD!!! read more

He worked with me to find me the very best pre owned vehicle that would fit my budget. He was very knowledgeable about how the vehicle operated and different options featured. After getting home with the car, an unforeseen mechanical issue developed. My car was taken in by Jason B in the service department. It was repaired in a very timely manner, and covered under the dealerships warranty they give on all cars. Prior to purchasing from River View, I visited 2 other dealerships. The first salesman gave me his card, told me to check the online inventory and get back to him. The second offered less for my 2 trade ins than I was given for 1 by Mark, and wouldn't even discuss working with me to make up the difference in what I needed to fit my budget. Totally frustrated with the service so far for RVF service center. It was a month & a half wait for have a airbag recall fixed on my car; which I was fine with. I was told I would receive a loaner vehicle to use; instead was offered a ride home because it was only going to take 3 hours to do the work. 3 hours ended up being 26 hours without a car, or my kids car seats since a small job turned into a mystery waiting game. When I got my car back, pieces of wire and plastic littered my car from the work they didn't clean up after, and I noticed as I was pulling out that they had lost part of the dial for my thermostat. Still, not a huge deal, I parked and ran back in for what ended up being a 30 minute wait while they looked around the garage for the dial, only to be told it had been been disposed of during cleanup.... It was okay though, they ordered me a new dial and it would be in a few days... I waited a week and called to inquire about the part and was told it would be another day or so and that they would call me.... Waited another half a week than called again, was told the same. Part came in after 3 weeks, and I was told to just drop by and they'll pop the dial on (easy, right?) I asked my husband to swing by for them to pop the dial on like they said since I couldn't find the time in my work week to go in during their open hours. Well, upon arrival he was told the car would need to be LEFT again because they didn't order just the dial, but the entire unit and they need time to dismantle and install it. Overall, they ATTEMPT to fix problems that they cause, but so many small issues seem to pop up for simple things. The part should have been expedited for delivery, there should be accurate (or at least a close guess) to how long labor should take, and better communication. read more

It's been 3 years since my last review of RVF and my family and I have decided to part ways with this dealership. We gave them 3 chances and continue to be disappointed. Their team does try to redeem themselves but then there's always another issue. After thousands of dollars and numerous issues we are taking our business elsewhere. I do want to commend Jesse in their QuickLane department....he is amazing. I have a brand new car that I promised I would buy from Mr. Hennessy and now that I have done that I am taking the remainder of my family's Ford business elsewhere.
