I took my car to Grease My Brothers Mechanic today, without an appointment, because my maintenance light came on unexpectedly a few days ago. I drive back and forth between the burbs and the city, so I wanted to get the problem checked out right away. Eric, the owner, was incredibly helpful and friendly. He checked out my car, and come to find out that there was no problem (phew!). He also topped off my fluids and didn't charge me anything for the time he spent diagnosing my car. If you value honesty & integrity, you've come to the right mechanic! I recently encountered an issue with what I believed was a bad battery. Needless to say, a winter weather advisory was underway, with freezing conditions, and my car wouldn't start. I checked a few places online and then recalled a co-worker had mentioned his great experience with Eric at My Brother's Mechanic. Eric greeted me upon my arrival and was skeptical that it was a faulty battery since the car is fairly new. A quick diagnostics on the battery revealed it was in great shape! The culprit appeared to be a dash cam I had wired into the vehicle, draining the battery when the vehicle was off. Eric was forthright in his explanation . . . a trait that seems rare these days in the automotive industry (i.e. car dealerships). There was no pushy up-sell or an attempt to push another service. Great overall experience. Vehicle broke down on a Saturday morning. Was able to get a tow to this shop and have repair done same day. Excellent, timely service was wonderful to not have really much down time for the car. Expected it to sit somewhere until Monday causing it to cost the repair and a day of work so we were happy that wasn't the case. This shop allowed us to supply parts too which saved some money since were able to find a cheaper part than the shop could provide. We got part from Autozone verses a certified Honda part. Only reasons this is not 5 stars... The labor charge is a bit higher than our regular mechanic but for same day service on a Saturday I wasn't totally turned off by paying a little more but don't know that I would make this my regular auto shop for planned maintenance. I will have to compare prices for thing like brakes later and see. So far so good with the repair. It's been about a week and everything is working. read more

I needed to find a shop that would tell me like it is, because I've had my share of bad moments with car repairs. I had failed my emission test and I needed repairs done. Eric was very kind and patient to tell me what I had to do to pass the emission test, what I should do, and what could wait for another time. My car broke down a few miles from this shop. I'm not from around here and when I got some quotes to tow my car home to my mechanic they were all above $400 for a one way trip. I decided to look up some mechanic shops around here to see if anybody would be able to look at my car and tell me what was wrong before I decided to tow it home. I called and spot with Eric, he stated to bring it over and he would gladly look at it. I told him I would get a tow truck to bring it over. About 45 minutes went by and Eric called me back to check on me and make sure I was ok. THIS BLEW ME AWAY. I told him the truck is almost here and I'd be there shortly. When I got there I was greeted and he explained the process of analyzing what was wrong and that there would be no charge unless it had to be more than just hooking up his computer to my car computer. He was up front about pricing and a time line of a call the next day. The next day was a Thursday and he called hours before the expect time to let me know what was wrong. He had a detailed explanation and price to repair my car. I felt very at ease throughout this process and never felt pressured to utilize him or his shop. I agreed to have the work done with him. He had my car up and running by Friday afternoon and even kept it till Saturday morning when I could pick it up. There was no extra fees added when I showed up. I've been driving my car for 2 plus weeks now and it runs great! I highly recommend them and their service. I made an appointment for a quote on spark plug replacement. In addition to the estimate I asked to check for a noise in the suspension. I met Eric at my scheduled appointment time and he put my car on the lift to evaluate the chassis. He had me take a look with him to talk through his "diagnosis" and concluded everything was fine. After providing the estimate for spark plugs, I asked what I owed for the inspection. Eric said there is no charge. My Toyota dealer I normally visit would have charged me at least $60 for a diagnostic fee. I highly recommend Grease Monkies for their professionalism and approach to solving owners' concerns. Stopped in for the first time ever today for a quick oil change. I was really surprised at how friendly they were and how genuinely nice the staff was. They were very quick with the oil change and even added air to my truck tires for no additional cost. The only downside to this place is that is a little hard to find as it's not on a main street, but the couple extra minutes to find this place was worth it. The two brothers here are really friendly, and knowledgeable! I have been here twice since moving to the area to get an oil change! It's a hidden gem in a little commercial business district. So far seems like your down to earth honest reliable mechanic shop, not the money grubbing trying to tell you 1000s things they can fix that are not wrong lol. [mind you this is solely based on reviewing them from an oil change standpoint] I only take down one star because it's a little missleading when their personal yelp page that they run has coupons for discounted oil change, and when you arrive they say that's not active and that's from two years ago, so just an FYI if you're viewing their yelp the coupon is not available IRL.. I only find this weird because they say it's so old and they are unaware it's on their page yet company has uploaded recent pics of shop in past two years, BUT mind you owner still says coupon is from 2years ago, and he had no idea it's still on Yelp.. Which idk how he could miss when uploading pics to the company Yelp page lol, but since they seem reliable and didn't try to sell me 100 things I will use them as me new go to mechanic should issues arise with my car. :) read more
