I would like to warn people to stay away from this Ford Dealership, as they in no size, shape or form, represent the expected quality of the Ford name. In August, we had some problems with our dual climate control, blowing warm on the passenger side and fine on the driver's side. We brought the vehicle to River View since it is close to us. When dropping off your vehicle, the service department should be calling you to inform you what they have found, since most cars are just hooked up to the computer that does the diagnostics. I should never have to pick up the phone after two days and ask for a status on the repair. This has always been the case whenever I have used their service department. The service department manager hems and haws about the computer can't diagnose, and he has hunches about this, and that. Long story short, $800 later and 4 days later we get the car back, with so so results. Come the colder weather, we blow warm on the drivers side, and cold enough on the passengers side to freeze meat. When calling River View, I was told that they wanted $80 to diagnose the issue. What? I am going to pay you $80 to hook my car up to the same computer that couldn't diagnose the problem to begin with? I then learned of a recall on the vehicle. I found out that Fair Oaks Ford now has a dealership very close to my home. While scheduling the recall repair, we mentioned the heat issue and asked them to diagnose. Within 2 hours, I received a call, and they told me the problem was fixed...apparently, the so called technician at River View, never hooked up a connector when making the original repair. Fair Oaks did not charge me for removing the entire dash to connect a cable. That is true customer service, and Fair Oaks has won my business. They even washed and vacuumed the car before calling us to pick it up. I would not recommend River View Ford to anyone for anything. My hopes are that enough people read this, and stop patronizing that dealership, and it turns I to an empty lot that can appear on a History Channel episode of life without people read more

Totally frustrated with the service so far for RVF service center. It was a month & a half wait for have a airbag recall fixed on my car; which I was fine with. I was told I would receive a loaner vehicle to use; instead was offered a ride home because it was only going to take 3 hours to do the work. 3 hours ended up being 26 hours without a car, or my kids car seats since a small job turned into a mystery waiting game. When I got my car back, pieces of wire and plastic littered my car from the work they didn't clean up after, and I noticed as I was pulling out that they had lost part of the dial for my thermostat. Still, not a huge deal, I parked and ran back in for what ended up being a 30 minute wait while they looked around the garage for the dial, only to be told it had been been disposed of during cleanup.... It was okay though, they ordered me a new dial and it would be in a few days... I waited a week and called to inquire about the part and was told it would be another day or so and that they would call me.... Waited another half a week than called again, was told the same. Part came in after 3 weeks, and I was told to just drop by and they'll pop the dial on (easy, right?) I asked my husband to swing by for them to pop the dial on like they said since I couldn't find the time in my work week to go in during their open hours. Well, upon arrival he was told the car would need to be LEFT again because they didn't order just the dial, but the entire unit and they need time to dismantle and install it. Overall, they ATTEMPT to fix problems that they cause, but so many small issues seem to pop up for simple things. The part should have been expedited for delivery, there should be accurate (or at least a close guess) to how long labor should take, and better communication. read more

It's been 3 years since my last review of RVF and my family and I have decided to part ways with this dealership. We gave them 3 chances and continue to be disappointed. Their team does try to redeem themselves but then there's always another issue. After thousands of dollars and numerous issues we are taking our business elsewhere. I do want to commend Jesse in their QuickLane department....he is amazing. I have a brand new car that I promised I would buy from Mr. Hennessy and now that I have done that I am taking the remainder of my family's Ford business elsewhere. What a joke. Might as well told me they could not get me in any time soon. They have a little mom and pop service shop. I dropped of my car Sunday and they did not look at it for 4 days. I called to ask when they may get it in and they said they will not look at any drop offs until they finish all scheduled appointments. When asked when this might be they had no idea. They said they still had 9 cars in front of me when I called a 1 pm. I asked when the first apt was and they said it was 3 weeks out. So my car would essentially sit and go to the back of the line at the start of each new day because they are booked up for 3 weeks??? Nice policy! Were you planning on telling me this or just letting it sit until I figured out it would never get in? Seems they are overbooking and short staffed and can not handle their work load. Not sure I'd trust them to fix my car anyhow when the service dept is so messed up. Do not waste your time and take your car here! I just purchased a pre owned vehicle from River View, and plan on exclusively shopping here. Mark Groggin was my salesman. He worked with me to find me the very best pre owned vehicle that would fit my budget. He was very knowledgeable about how the vehicle operated and different options featured. After getting home with the car, an unforeseen mechanical issue developed. My car was taken in by Jason B in the service department. It was repaired in a very timely manner, and covered under the dealerships warranty they give on all cars. Prior to purchasing from River View, I visited 2 other dealerships. The first salesman gave me his card, told me to check the online inventory and get back to him. The second offered less for my 2 trade ins than I was given for 1 by Mark, and wouldn't even discuss working with me to make up the difference in what I needed to fit my budget. I can't say enough about the service department. Prior to my visit I had taken my 2008 Ford F1 50 to Bartels in Plainfield. I spent about $600 that didn't even fix my problem and they wanted to charge me over $2000 for a new PCM. I had a bad feeling about that and decided to take it out to us we go to Riverview forward. Everyone I spoke with was very friendly and very helpful and extremely well at communicating. They fixed everything I needed and gave me a great detailed explanation all for under $500 which I was really happy with. Thanks a ton guys!! read more

John (the owner) went above and beyond what he had to do in order for me to get the car I wanted. I looked at two different trucks. Knowing one was out of my price range and the other too small, John noted he had a back up plan. He had a truck brought over from his home and let me test drive it. Quick Lane is Quick Crap! I brought my wifes Edge in for an oil change and was told by the service writer I needed new brakes all around. I did it because the car had original brakes and figured it was time. Well $800.00 later and a few thousand miles down he road, one of the rear calipers locked up and required another rotor and pad. The other side was going to be a problem as well, so that one was replaced too. But not by the chubby kid with the Craftsman tool box! I used my regular mechanic and he said they did not use the proper lubricant, or not enough because he had to heat the bolt up to remove it, which should not have occured on a brake job which was done such a short time ago. I had the dealership do it for convenience since I was there, but never again. It looks like that Quick Lane is for the jobs the mechanics don't want to do and is staffed by parts changers. I am taking the car back to them to check the front, already knowing that the same is going to happen there, just want to see if I get an honest answer that it was their fault. Now this was a few years ago so I hope the crew is better. But I will see. Nevertheless, if they say it needs front brakes they will not be the ones who do it. Again, my experience at this dealership went above and beyond my expectations! After enduring a tough Chicago snowstorm and realizing that I wouldn't survive another day without All-Wheel Drive, I called the dealership to see what they could do. Within an hour I received three car options to review. I chose one option and within 24 hours the car arrived at my house for me to test drive. We loved the car, but wanted to make some tweaks to the exterior and interior. Not a problem - within 1 week the tweaks were made at no additional cost, the car was purchased, and it was personally delivered to my home sparkly clean and with a full tank of gas. I would definitely not recommend this dealer to anyone. I had my car in there for service and was treated terribly. The service adviser working with me was Jason. I am not even sure where to begin with what he failed to do. I brought my car in the morning and around 1pm, I was told the issue with the vehicle. He said he was waiting on parts to give him pricing and then would let me know that....that took 2 hours and I never heard back from him. I had to call and another service adviser helped me with that information. I never heard of it taking 2 hours to wait for a price?! Wow. I informed them that I did not have a lot of money for the repair, and he said he would try to do what he could to help me out. When I found out my car wasn't going to be done that day, I told Jason that I needed a car, because that is my only vehicle, he told me he could rent me a car from enterprise AT MY EXPENSE?!?! How does that make any sense? I just got done telling him that I was struggling to pay for the repair and now ON TOP of that he wants ME to pay for a loaner car?! Unbelievable. They definitely do not try their hardest to help their customers out. I never heard from Jason after that, when I went to pick up my car the cashier took my money and that was that. I wasn't even explained what worked they did!!! I am not sure if that was what topped it off, or if it was the fact that when I was waiting for my car to pulled around to me. I overheard a conversation in the waiting room with a gentleman wearing a suit ( I am assuming the owner)and another customer. " Whatever you need don't hesitate to let me know, we have loaners, I can give you a car off the lot, we even have a courtesy shuttle" Is that so?! Why wasn't I offered any of those options?! Do I need to go to the owner to get this special treatment?! Well, it simply doesn't matter because my car will not be back there, and I will make sure I let people know to take their car elsewhere if they want to get treated with the proper respect and care they deserve. read more

There is an aweful lot I want to say about Riverview Ford in Oswego. For years i have been buying and servicing Ford Vehicles all over Chicago. I have had both good and bad experiences. However, over the last 7 years i have been both buying and servicing my cars from Riverview. Sales: I do my fair share of internet shopping. I have come to realize that no matter how many dealers i shop, Riverview is ALWAYS in line with their price and usually end up giving more for my trade-in than the others. It has gotten to the point that i don't even feel the need to check around as i have total trust that they will take care of me. Service: I cannot believe how accomodating and amazing their service department operates! They have done everything from picking me up on the side of the road, to squeezing me in last minute to get work done. They are very upfront and honest with their work. Never have they told me one thing and it ended up being the other. Their prices are fair and i know the work is done right! I know not every experience can be like the ones i have had, but what i can tell you is the best thing about Riverview Ford, is that the owner is there everyday and will not hide in his office. Most places i have been to management and owners seem to disappear when negative comments or issues arise. Any time I have had a question/issue the owner and managers have met me personally and we came to a mutually beneficial solution. It is that honesty and trust that will be the reason i continue to buy and service my cars there. Just to prove my point they are so good at what they do, I live in Chicago and i bring and buy my cars out in Oswego... I travel for Riverview Ford and will continue to do so. They treat me like family and they know all of their customers when they walk in the door. Not to mention the fun activities they do during the year (Santa at the store on Christmaswith Reindeer rides!) In this day and age with Home Depot, Car Max and all these corporate owned conglomerate type businesses that are all about bottom line, Riverview is that Family owned place where you really get a feel that they truly WANT your business. Well I was looking for a new vehicle that the dealership did not have. I emailed them and told them what I was looking for. I also told them if they could track down what I was looking for I was willing to buy from them. I received an email saying they would be happy to help. I sent them the color and options I was looking for. A week went by and I emailed my contact again as I had not heard anything. He response back that he is calling looking around for the vehicle. ANOTHER WEEK goes by and I email him for an update. No response!!! Clearly they did not care about or want my business!! I got tired of the lack of communication and so I went to Gjovik Ford and purchased my new vehicle from them. These guys have no clue what customer service is. I wanted to buy a $40k+ from them and they clearly didn't care or didn't want to take my money. After this experience I wouldn't spend $4 at this place let alone $40k. Horrible experience. Had my brakes done here. I thought they where done right the first time on my car. I had to bring it back 10 times. The first time the brakes locked up from no grace. Had the pads fall out several times. I also had my tie rods fixed, so I thought. They broke three times. After the third time they refused to fix them. I found them trying to drill holes in my engine. If you try to get a loaner car from them except them to ask you if you can leave them an 5 star rating and then they will ask you for a pay off. That's if they feel like giving you an loaner. The service center is the biggest scam I have ever seen. I understand that my car is 10yrs old but that has no bearing on the breaks. They also tried to take advantage of my mentality handicapped sister. All the five star rating is the employees writing them. I just cannot say how pleased I am to have dealt with John Hennessy and his service manager Jim at Hennessy ford.My son and I had taken his truck to another ford dealership.and paid for two hours of diagnostic services due to a check engine light and misfire.This dealership told us that the repairs would cost in the thousands.We wanted a second opinion and brought the truck to Hennessy ford .We had explained what had happened and what we were told at the other dealership.John and his service manager Jim took the truck in and went through every aspect of not only the engine but also the trans.They had detected the problem and corrected it at a cost 85% below what the other dealership quoted. Great experience at River View Ford especially with Ryan Moulding! I recently have been having a problem with my Ford 150 truck because it was making weird sounds when turning. So I took my truck over to River View Ford and talked to the young gentleman named Ryan Moulding who was the service writer. He was GREAT and so helpful! After telling him about my truck's problem, he named off a few things that could be wrong but wanted to look at my truck and see where the sounds were coming from! He was very educational when teaching me all the information about my truck and found out exactly what was going on! Ryan provided outstanding service and seemed very excited to help me out with my problem unlike some people who get annoyed when you come in with a problem. Overall I could not be happier with my visit to River View Ford because now my truck is fixed and I know that if I ever have a problem again, Ryan Moulding will be able to help me. read more
