A friend recommended C.A.R. to me. They have done several repairs for me as well as regular maintenance. First of all, Tim Sr. and Tim Jr. couldn't be nicer people - honest, warm, and knowledgeable. I had dealt with several other places and the dealership regarding a problem with being able to align the tires on my 2003 Camry due to rusted bolts. I was told by the last place I was at that I needed to replace the tie rods. I took it to C.A.R. and Tim spent a lot of time trying to locate the parts and warned me that the labor might be pricey. When I brought the car in, they did MAGIC, pure MAGIC. They were able to loosen the bolts so no replacements were needed. And so, I was able to have the brand new tires I'd just bought aligned. Had clutch problems, an emergency as vehicle was undrivable, contacted Tim at Comprehensive Auto Repair and was able to get Element in the same day. Fantastic experience! Radiator blew the night before. I was able to get the car in the next morning. Ask to have a look at some other things already knowing that the car needed some work. Tim called me back with a list of things that I knew I needed. He then prioritized the ones that were critical/safety issues that needed to be done and was honest about the ones that could wait until I saved some shekels...the big name guys would have bent me over... The Battery light came on in my 2005 Element. Called C.A.R. and got an appointment within hours ! They replaces the alternator, belt, and tensioner for much less than a price quoted by a competitor. They didn't try to Sell me a battery. Just replaced the required parts. I was back on the road in two hours. I could not be happier with the service. I had 2 loaded or quick struts installed on my 2014 Venza XLE by CAR because I was trying to save money since I am semiretired and a senior and my regular mechanic doesn't use them. He did not do an alignment and said it needed a slight toe adjustment. Ok, great. Then I drove the car. The ride was no better and far worse. Even my wife noticed who is hardly a car buff. So, I returned the next day saying I was not happy with the performance of the struts and I was feeling the road bumps, very stiff ride and had a swaying side to side. I had already had my checked by my mechanic and he found no front end issues prior to this installation. Tim Sullivan, the owner, seemed initially concerned but then in turned into something else and got heated right in front of another customer. He got confrontational right after and told me I didn't tell him what was wrong. I did. I don't know if his tech took it for a test drive before performing the work to corroborate my findings but accepted the job. Had he said you know you have some life left in these struts and they weren't leaking I would have not done it. But that didn't happen. I came back a week later, which was way too long, and I asked him if I could go for the test drive with him and his service manager I think since he didn't bother to introduce me to him. He very tersely refused which seemed very odd and rude. Aurora Ave east of the shop is in bad shape and would show why I was coming back. They came back in 5-10 minutes if that and said there was nothing wrong. I was never 100% sure what struts he installed since I never saw the boxes and could not check the shop numbers with Auto Zone or the manufacturer in Michigan. He said they were FCS struts from the Auto Zone. At one point in the early discussion he said he wouldn't object to trying KYB struts but that fell off the table since there was no further discussion or negotiation. What he did say was "What kind of a game am I playing here?" Game? I just spend $1,000 on 2 struts and I am not happy. Game, are you serious? I asked him for the original parts which he did give back to me. I left and he made some parting comment like he was glad to get rid of me, I'm paraphrasing. I bought these shocks with the intention of improving the ride, not making it worse. In my 66 years as a driver, I have replaced many shocks and struts over the years with after market parts and the result was an improved ride. Hence, I was left with no other option but to put the charge in dispute with VISA OR get stuck with a bad ride. I received his written statement back which was full of out and out lies about what I said, when I brought it back, I never intended to buy my own parts through Auto Zone or anyone else, just trying to get information. He never put it on the rack to check it out. Just a test drive and that was it! I bought this car new and have driven it for 5 years. I think I should know how it drives! Give me a little credit here. He also had the nerve to say I was misusing my rights as a consumer, get this, to RIP HIM OFF!! Are you kidding! This guy has gaul. I am going to file a claim with the BBB and am considering contacting the Attorney General's Office as well. No one should be subjected to this kind of abuse and dishonesty. He never said he was sorry, I'll make it right and made no attempt to remedy the situation. He just blamed me, the customer. When a repair shop tells you are the problem, stay clear of a place like this. I never got what can we do to make you, the customer happy? It's all about the owner, Tim Sullivan. Continue to be impressed with this repair shop. Tim fixed a flat tire for me, quickly and at no cost earlier this month (he also showed me the monster that had pierced my tire-yikes!) Accurate diagnosis and fair price to repair my Honda. Very happy with the service. If I brought my car to the dealership they would have replaced the entire throttle body. At CAR they found and aftermarket throttle position sensor (sensor is not sold by Honda and is riveted onto the throttle body) and did the work to replace just what was needed. Completely unsatisfying experience! Brought my Jeep in for some much needed repair. Decent quote, very quick service. Paid over $1800.00 to have several things done. Had to bring the car back 3 times. Each time I was told everything was fixed. Each time the same couple issues were still present. Finally I was told "I don't know what the problem is and I cannot fix it". Never expected a mechanic to tell me he didn't know what the problem is. Even though I was promised - and paid for A, B ,C, D and E to get fixed I only got A, B, and E. Understood work and time spent on repairs is worth money but if you don't complete the entire repair you don't charge the entire amount! Never saw a dime back for the things that weren't fixed. To really top it off they forgot to tighten one of my lug nuts when they put my front passenger tire back on. My neighbor found it next to my car in the parking lot and I put it back on myself. Could never recommend this establishment. read more

Tim, the owner, charged me $187.50 for a BMW starter install labor for my supplied part. They have $100/hr is their labor rate on a sign in the office. So, 1.8 hours for what three other shops quoted $120 labor estimate or about 1.2 hours. I had no choice to go to those other shops due to Labor Day overflow. ADDTL $7.50 that Tim never mentioned when giving his quote for parts that could have been reused instead of thrown away. The starter seems to be installed well. However, they broke my rear left door ashtray due to carelessly picking up the new starter box from the rear left footwell. I rarely have rear passengers in my car and nobody smokes. There was a fresh white scratch going up the front of the black rear left leather seat and up the black leather door panel to the broken ashtray. Looked like they tried to jam it closed again, due to broken plastic pieces and gear wheel fragments. I had to order a used ashtray module for about $30, since the broken ashtray door is loose and noisy on bumps now. Also, there was only one person's ASE certificate on the wall: Tim, the owner who, by the way, doesn't work on the cars...just manages the mechanics. They didn't have any ASE certificates of any of the mechanics on the wall...so misrepresentatiion/TRICKERY? Finally, their parking lot/driveway is really small and has room for just a few cars! And they refused to give me a shuttle ride home for just 3.7mi distance. They promise shuttle service on their website. Imran had an unfriendly attitude about giving me a ride home. So, they were VERY DISHONEST as mentioned above and they lied about shuttle service for customers. read more

"I've got a guy". Ever heard, "yeah, I've got a guy for that"? Well, I've got a guy for car repairs. This is the ultimate place for your car. Tim, the owner, probably saved me in the upwards of $1500, seriously. Took my car to the Ford dealer who said I needed a new steering rack ($1487 @ Ford). My dad told me to get a second opinion, so I did. Tim did his diagnostics and informed me that it was ONLY the steering return line that needed fixing, an $80 part. Whether it was Ford trying to get money out of me or a missed diagnosis, I am forever grateful that Comprehensive Auto Repair did not do the same. C.A.R gave me a fair price for all the work done (install rear shocks, install rear brake pads and rotors, repair return line, transmission flush, and a one more look over) and in less than 24 hours my car was done. I really cannot thank Tim and his team enough. Now, what to do with that extra $1500 I've got laying around? read more

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! One star is only because you can't save with zero stars! After taking my Jeep there to have A, B, C, D and E done I only got A, B and D completed. After THREE times going into CAR they still could not resolve all the issues. In fact, the owner told me that "he just did not know what to do". That's after he collected the full amount of $1766.00!! Understood there is a price for parts and labour but he didn't complete the work! I never was offered any compensation! Apparently at CAR if they can't do the work you still pay the full price. Total RIP OFF! Take your car anyplace else. To really top things off the mechanics didn't put my lug nuts on all the way and one fell off and was next to my car in my parking lot! My neighbour was kind enough to give it to me. Loose lug nuts?! You can imagine how shoddy the overall care is at CAR. Wouldn't recommend someone take a bicycle there. Your wheel would fall off. Hands down worst experience with any mechanic. Not to mention the owner couldn't nor wouldn't take ANY responsibility for their incompetence. read more

Imran, the mechanic who I've dealt with is kind, respectful and honest. He will explain to you the problems with your vehicle before doing any work and what he does charge is very cheap, especially for labor. I had an air leak in one of my tires in the past few days. Looked up yelp for recommendations, called the shop, they said that they could address it in about 40 minutes. I stopped by in about 40 minutes, and in about 15 minutes later left the place, minus the nail form the tire, and more than reasonable charge.
