I had to make an urgent stop at the shop today because I had a flat tire and air was leaking out. They were able to get me in right away, and it only took less than an hour to fix the tire. The total came to about $53, including taxes, for one tire. They have the highest Google rating in my area--which is why I chose them. I really hope I won't have to go back for the same issue again. I also hope they stand behind their work with a good warranty. So far, I'm very happy with the service--they really deliver prompt and efficient work that meets my needs. Plus, they offer some of the most generous complimentary snacks and beverages, which I definitely took advantage of during my visit. read more

Car was acting up so I took it to Journey Automotive because of the great ratings and testimonials here and I was not disappointed. Got my car in that day (my dealership's next open appointment was next week), diagnosed the problem, quoted me a price and then fixed it that day. Friendly and trustworthy business that I highly recommend read more

J Murray was awesome! Journey Auto is not. Scammers! I dropped my car off for a brake job. They called me later to tell me my car as unsafe. Replacing the controller arm was a priority. They said it really needed front end suspension replaced. They quoted $3000 for the list of items. My car is less than 5 yrs old with only 70k miles. I had it inspected elsewhere and was told there was NOTHING wrong with the controller arm or any part of the suspension. Scammers! I will never go back there again. Don't trust them! read more

Great little shop in S Elgin with superb service and knowledgeable staff. Zach does a terrific job. Thanks Eric read more

I needed brakes, and an oil change. Took my car in around 830am....received a call about an hour later from the tech. He thoroughly explained his findings, gave me the price up front which by the way was super reasonable. After the initial repair the tech found another issue, and instead of trying to strongarm me on getting work done he gave me several options on what to do. I will be bringing my vehicle back for all my service needs. read more

This is by far the best auto service place I've ever been to. My husband and I have been trying to find someone reliable, honest, and not ridiculously priced for years and we're honestly just so relived to find that these guys are NICE and go out of their way to make your experience worthwhile. They check all the boxes! 10/10 would recommend read more

These guys always do a great job! Fair, honest dependable. Have been coming here for car repairs for years.

Tried this shop out for the first time today. Had me in and out quickly. Showed me what was wrong and gave me options on what I wanted to do. Price was fair. Didn't try to push anything on me either. Definitely will be going back. read more

This is my new car repair company. Made an appointment and was taken right away. Friendly knowledgeable staff. They called with estimate before work started. The were precise in their diagnosis. A few hours later the car as fixed. They showed me where on the car where the parts were replaced and showed the old damaged parts. Highly recommend local business. Very competitive prices. read more

Honest, reliable and great customer service! I have been referring them & taking my own vehicles there for years!

I've only been here for oil and minor maintenance so take this review for what it's worth- but for those things they were great for me. They got me in and out quickly and I haven't had any issues with the work performed. Like I mentioned, I've only done minor maintenance here so I can't speak to their abilities beyond that. But, I'll definitely not hesitate to come back for the next oil change or brakes I need. read more

Great owner, explains what is being done to your vehicle and why it needs to be done. I've had them work on my car several times- from oil changes to actual work on the vehicle- and they have always done a really great job. I find that the price is good for great service, I definitely trust this company as my mechanic. read more

Brought my car in after a bad slip in the snow, left it overnight came back the next day the younger guy said he drove the vehicle (which I didn't drive because the car wouldn't move) around to the Bay. He said he had to rev it high. J Murray (I assume the older guy) said that never happened that they had pushed my vehicle. The two of them had differing stories on how they got my inoperable car into bay. I generally believe the younger guy because I had a terrible burnt rubber smell for the following two months lingering in the car. He then quoted me $3000 to fix. Claimed I need a whole new suspension set up and the subframe was compromised. I took it elsewhere. Had it towed the same day. The tow truck driver looked at it and said "looks like a control arm problem". Sure enough the shop I took it to said exactly that , it was a control arm. Costed $250 plus the part and the car was as good as new. After that experience seeing that the guy I assume was the owner had no issue lying to my face and then wanted to quote me for more than what was wrong is saying alot about this scam.i just hope the younger guy that revealed how they mishandled my car learns to not be decietful to customers like the Mr.j Murray If you don't know how to change your oil or the weather is bad then just take it here.but don't be fooled about getting things fixed by these liars read more

John Murray, Bob C & crew are great. Guy or Girl they will treat you with respect and integrity. My husband Tony and I have known him for a very long time. Though Tony is a very good parts-changer there are still repairs he will not attempt and John is always happy to do any needed service. No tricks, lies or other nonsense other local shops try to pull. Just a good honest family business. Keep up the good work John! :) read more

Trusted mechanic. Upfront, honest and reasonably priced.

These guys are very helpful and accommodating. As a woman I'm used to getting scammed by mechanics, so it's a relief to find a trustworthy shop that performs the services you pay for and doesn't try to add on unnecessary "repairs." read more

I've been relying on John for many years to keep my high mileage cars in good repair. He has consistently provided excellent service. I've always felt like John has had my interest (and wallet) in mind, as he's always provided professional service, concerning routine preventative maintenance, or major repairs. (yep, I know this sounds like a commercial..but I've also seen how he's dealt with other customers, and he demonstrated the same professional svc to them) Well....I'll stop gushing. Just to offer one last example. He kept one of my cars running perfectly for almost 300K miles. (that didn't happen by accident...) read more

Highly recommend to get your car fixed correctly and quickly as quoted. My heater was blowing cold sir and now is so hot it is wonderful.

This was my first time at J Murray. They were all very nice. I used their website to book my appointment and shortly after they called to confirm. I was able to get an appt quickly. My service was done fast and they were honest. I will definitely be using them for all my cars needs including oil changes. I highly recommend J Murray. read more

My car wouldn't start and had to be towed. AAA said J. Murray was close by, so that was where I decided to have it towed. They were clearly pretty busy, but got my car in fairly quickly to take a look and let me know if they would be able to fix it the same day or not - which was so great, since I was kind of stuck there and didn't want to call for a ride unless I had to. They diagnosed the problem, gave me a quote (which, according to my quick Googling, was totally fair) and got it fixed as soon as possible. While it would have been great if my car hadn't broken down, I was very pleased with my experience at J. Murray and will absolutely use them again if I have a problem in the area. Definitely recommend! read more

I recently had some major work done with John and he did excellent work! When I picked up the car ( now 11 years old) it drove like it did the first day I got it. I highly recommend John and his team. I will continue to bring it to him and with his help will keep this car for many more years! Thanks again John! read more
