Horrible experience. I called to find out how much it would be for 2 filters and a transmission flush on my CRV. I was quoted a price and made an appointment for the following week. I arrived for my appointment and after 30 minutes, I was informed they forgot to order the transmission fluid. I made another appointment for 3 days later. Again, I arrived and after about 15 minutes I was told that a technician had put the transmission fluid ordered for me into another car. I was also told that if I rescheduled yet again, I would get a discount. Today was supposed to be the 3rd appointment and I called to ensure they had everything they needed and we would not have a repeat of the earlier issues. I was told they had everything. When I inquired about the discount, they told me they were already taking a loss on the transmission fluid and the best they could offer me was 10% off. I scheduled an appointment on Monday for a vehicle inspection for Wednesday at noon. I explained to the store representative I could only bring my car during my lunch break. When I arrived, there was no one at the front desk to greet me; then, I was informed the inspection would take longer because they were on lunch and were short a technician. That situation could've been avoided with a simple phone call if Firestone valued my time. What a disaster from the moment I walked in. No one at the front desk. After waiting 10 minutes I walked into the shop to let them know I arrived. The employee was on the phone but didn't get back to me for another 10 minutes. I came in for a simple oil change and was told I needed a new cabin filter which would cost $46.98 which was totally not true as I changed it two weeks earlier. I had my brakes completely replaced about 1.5 years ago. I don't drive my car much (especially working from home during the pandemic). I started having trouble with my back brakes last week and took my car to Merlin. They asked my husband if he tried to do it himself because of how poor of a job it was. They said the brakes should have lasted much longer and weren't even safe to drive on. This is the 2nd car we've taken to Merlin to fix a screw up that was made by this Firestone in less than a year. We brought out Nissan there for an oil change and brakes. Spoke to Luis, he said the back brakes are the only ones needing to be changed, but we would have to do it in a few days as they had to order them from the dealer. We made an appointment that day to bring it in on Saturday, the 20th at 10am. We specifically asked if the car will be done the same day, as it's my only car and I work in Itasca all week. He said yes. When we got there on the 20th, Luis said that the are busy and will not be able to have it done today because they have to order the brakes and rotors from the dealer. We said that we had an appointment and were told that they would order the brakes for the 20th. He said "I don't want to sound like an a**hole, but you should've called and checked. Seriously?! So they called the dealer, they said that the brakes were being delivered. Went pick up car, the total due was over 1200.00. They replaced the front brakes as well. We NEVER told them to do the front brakes since Luis said only the back brakes needed changing. I will be calling corporate on Monday to report this, they are unprofessional and liars. We will warn everyone everyone we know to avoid this shop. read more

After waiting almost 10 mins to even talk to someone(while I watched 4 employees in a group chatting & laughing) a man said in a gruff voice said What can I do for you? I explained the scary issue. He said I have a lot of cars in front of you. You would have to leave it here all day & started to walk away. I said ok, I guess I'll call the dealer & see if they can help. I don't have a single good thing to say. I had to try 3 times to start my car yesterday and then today it made a loud clunking noise when I tried to turn it on so I took it to Firestone. After about 4 or 5 hours I was called and told they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. Then they charged about $30 for labor just to tell me they were too incompetent to figure out what was wrong. Then they had "recommended services" listed on the receipt. I asked what this meant since I was told everything was fine and I got an unclear and somewhat short response about it being manufacturer's recommended services whatever the hell that means. I asked if those services would help the noise I heard and he said, "No, we didn't hear anything wrong with the car, if you could bring it in when it's making that noise that would help tremendously." Well, I did bring it in when it was making that noise. It made the noise on my way to this stupid place. Then when I tried to explain when I heard the noise I was rudely interrupted and told to "hang on, my other phone is ringing." Not "could you please hold, I have another call?" Screw them! I hung up and will NEVER take my car to this unprofessional and incompetent store again. read more

On August 18th, 2019, I presented to the Firestone dealership in Elgin, Illinois, @ 8am. It was a Sunday morning and no other customers were around yet. I had a bad tire on my Ford SuperDuty. I wanted to have it replaced with a spare I had with me. The employee refused, citing company policy that spare tires could not be touched by Firestone employees. That was annoying, because I was out of town and needing help to get down the road. I opted to buy a whole set of tires for my truck. The employee declined to sell me any tires. He said he didn't have tires to fit my F250. He never even hit the computer to look it up. He simply was not interested in helping us or selling a whole set of new tires. I experienced a complete anti-customer service experience @ the Firestone store. I took my business elsewhere and will continue to do so in the future. read more

I have an update to yesterday post. The manager Ron called me personally and apologize. He was quite nice and very sincery about how he expects his employee to treat the customers. I am very please with how quickly and expediously this issue was handled. I would like to say THANK YOU Ron!!!!! I gave 2 stars because I'm giving them a lot of room for improvement. today I stopped by to check my tire pressure and when I pulled up I waited about 5 minutes or so to see if anyone was gonna open the garage door and no one came out until an employee signaled me to move my car so I just walked inside hoping to see somebody attending the front desk no one was there so I waited there were some people there waiting for their cars to be done, and I decided I could just wait for a lil bit more as 5 minutes pass still not a soul has attended me and I'm waiting for what is just gonna be a tire pressure check after I go to get the attention of the people on duty he says that's about 20-30 minute wait So my thought is I could've at least known that that was the wait time and left and came back but these gentleman were not there to tell me it goes to show that sometimes being the nice person and waiting is not gonna get you results what the heck people on duty today! The other bad story about this location is that after my wife purchased a whole new set of tires from this location she came to get them rotated at this location and she later found out that the wheel lock was at home fifteen minutes pass as she's waiting but they didn't look or ask about it the wheel lock and then she was advised to go wait at the next door target where she then waited for 30 minutes and then they gave her a call just to tell her that the wheel lock isn't In the car what kind of service is that!!? Please try to do right by the customers we only want excellent service at a fair price and as a customer we just want to be notified of bad news ASAP!! Thank you read more

Bad experience from one person to the next. I was clearly lied to so that they could get some money. Do not go here. My car was towed there. I called the next morning and told them it would likely be the alternator. They said they'd test it. They called back and wanted 1300 bucks to Change the alternator. For a car I was getting rid of I said I'd get it towed home. The associate said if I kept the battery that they put in to test. That the car would make it home without needing a tow. And then I'd have it if I got it fixed. So I would save on the tow. I needed my cousin to pick up the car which they said was fine because I was not in town by the time they closed. My cousin went to pick it up and they charged him more money than they told me for the battery and were swearing up and down that if we were to take it we should get a tow because the car wouldn't make it down the street. A complete opposite of what the guy the night before said. So he was obviously lying to sell the battery. And then the next day they were trying to sell other services through fear. By the way got it fixed at a licensed shop for half the price. read more

Wish I could give this location negative stars. I used to like the Firestone location in Elgin il on Randall road but recently I have received the absolute worst customer service I've received from any company. How do I get in touch with a manager. The staff only wants my money and wants to push me off to another location to fix the wheel alignment that they half assed fixed. Very disgusted with the level of service here. I have never been so pissed at a company. They won't get me in touch with upper management. Horrible customer service! The service manager needs to be re trained on how to treat customers appropriately. First, we walk in and we're greeted by "yeah".....then proceeds to tell us "I have 35 appointments today and 12 left from lastnight. Didn't even ask what i needed serviced. Don't even waste your time at this location. It's funny because we then drove to Discount Tire who doesn't even open for another 45 minutes. All the employees getting out of their cars and they stopped us and said "Goodmorning, were you guys looking for some services to be done today? We don't open until 8 but maybe we can help you." They actually let us drop our wheels and tires off at that time instead of waiting and told us they'd be ready later this afternoon. These guys are the best. They could not have been nicer, they explained everything they were doing and they didn't try to sell me any extra stuff I didn't actually need. And I'm a 25 year old female so they usually try to sell me windshield wipers at the very least. They also did everything they could to make it less expensive for me - I broke the air valve off my tire so it was completely flat and rather than selling me a new tire, they fixed mine. I have a headlight out on my 2013 Chevy Malibu and stopped in to see how long and how much it would cost to fix it. The sales associate began telling me that because of the make/model of my car that the bumper would have to be removed to replace it, so I should probably just replace both at once. I informed him that the other one was fine and to please let me know the cost for replacement of the one that was out. After several minutes looking at his computer he informed me it would be $371 in parts and labor- FOR A HEADLIGHT- because the labor would take about 1.9 hours. I don't know if this guy thought I was naive or an absolute moron but when I informed him that I've had the other headlight replaced for about $50 he offered to do them both for $371. I laughed and walked out. I immediately called my local Chevy dealership, which told me it would be $74 in parts and labor. I called the Chevy dealership from which I originally purchased the car for good measure and he also had a good laugh and told me that the bumper absolutely does not need to be removed to replace the bulb for this make/model, just loosened slightly to take it out and he would also charge about $75. I wouldn't bother writing this review if this was my first negative experience with Firestone but this was after they quoted me $700 to replace a busted out tail light last year. Very bad experience. Poor communication between techs and management. I had the tires from The Tire Rack shipped directly to them. Left the car and dropped the key through the door early am with clear written instructions. I had old tires in the trunk to be disposed of. The tires on the vehicle ( winter tires in good shape) were to be taken off and placed in the trunk. The new tire rack tires were to be installed on the wheels. Got the call from the manager confirming the instructions over the phone. They took off the winter tires and placed the tires in the trunk exactly as requested( A+) but instead of installing the new tires from The Tire Rack they used the tires that were garbage and were supposed to be dumped. Me wife went to pick up the car before closing and made them realize their mistake. They said that they were closing and to leave the car with them again. We refused because my wife had to go on 120 mile trip early morning the next day. When I called the next day the manager first words were" O yeah, when are you bringing the car back" They are light years behind the curve on customer service. I only paid for the alignment there and took my the tire rack tires from them. I will never go back again. read more

Not very honest people. Will try to rip you off any chance they get. You bring your car in just to get tire fix and they will tell you a hundred things wrong with the car. I brought my car there the other day for blown tire and they said bearing, axle, struts, stabilizer and all other things were the cost of the blow out and it will cost over $2000 to fix. The tire which has warranty will cost me about $200. Took my car to another shop and it cost me less than $400 including labor. it turned out i didn't need to replace all the parts. i took the tire to a different Firestone location and they charged me $50 Plus fee for a brand new tire. I should have learned my lesson last time. Never again. read more

Called firestone and told them i wanted a rotate and balance along with a tire repair. Guy on the phine said no problem. I told him i had repaired the tire myself. Made an appointment and waited 45 minutes for them to tell me they cant repair the tire because i plugged it tried selling me a new tire and recommended a brake inspection. I brought my car in to have winter tires put on. I opted to stay in the waiting room, and the man behind the desk said it'd take approximately 1 hour. After an hour, I asked how it was going, and he said that they were having some issues with the low profile tires, but that they were well underway. After 1 hour and 50 minutes, I asked again, and he said they were just finishing up. After 3 hours, my car was done. I was the only one in the waiting room, and I would've greatly appreciated him keeping me more properly updated. I told him so, and he was short with his responses and claimed there was nothing more he could do, and that he "did me a favor" by not charging me more for my low profile tires. I said I appreciated that, but it did not change the fact that he could've done a better job not letting me waste 3 hours of my life for a job that was supposed to take an hour. I honestly wasn't even upset that they ran into problems and that it took 3 hours; I was upset that he kept pretending like it was nearly done for several hours instead of being proactive and telling me that it'd be a few more hours than anticipated. read more
