    Chinese food
    Vivek B.

We were very excited about Bikanervala opening up in Long Island NY and have tried it a few times now. I must admit that the experience and food has improved considerably since it opened a few months ago. They had some teething problems at startup but I'm happy to say that all that is behind them now. The servers are pretty quick at bringing the food to the table after you order and pay at the counter. I thought the location of the restaurant is a little off the main Hicksville path but the place is big with plenty of seating. Would definitely recommend the Tandoori food and the any of the Chaat. I haven't tried the Indian Chinese yet but I heard it's good too.

We ordered a thali and aloo puri. Both were tasty and mild spicy which was perfect for a family with kids. I would suggest getting a deluxe thali for better portion. Lovveedd the ambiance, it's very well lit and clean. Service was great too, no complains as such.

This is a great addition to Hicksville! I was a little confused because I thought this was a sit down restaurants but it's more like a Chipotle. If you have any confusion about what's on the menu, if you go on their website and try the order to go option, it breaks down what each item is. After ordering, my friend and I sat at a table that was super clean and comfortable as was the bathroom. Then when your order is ready, they call it out or the number pings on a neon sign. The food was delicious and there was plenty left for left overs. Everything pictured only came out to $45 dollars which I thought was a steal for two people. Finally, the staff was very sweet to us and asked us if we needed anything during our meal several times. I will definitely be returning. Of note, this is a vegetarian restaurant:)

The food is fresh and many options. They are waiting to include dosas in their menu. I have to say the sweets are good and batura is good.

Given the culinary brilliance here, if you order one of your favorites, it'll be done well, but you're better off trying something unique that might not be on the menu at your local Chinese, Indian or Thai spot. Chili tofu and basil ginger fish were two great showcases for the complex spices available here. (I'm a real American hero, I ate fourths since my parents preferred leftovers that didn't have the top spice levels). And if you're spice-adverse yet chili-curious, the honey chili potato is worth a shot. These are essentially fries. Our server, Ten, was amazing. He adeptly handled the multiple time frames of our orders and is ready to provide suggestions for those who didn't spend 40 minutes researching on Yelp. Part 2. I wish there was editing capability for older reviews. I'm a two-sentence guy - are there fish tacos, does it have strange hours of operation and will they sneer at me for wearing Kohls? - and my first Kunga Kitchen attempt was a bit extra. It even had a narrative arc. I'm someone who thinks movies can be better if the character doesn't change or learn anything, but I tried for three-act structure and can't possibly top that original review so it would be better if I could a couple of recent entrees to the first one.

The restaurant is medium sized, lots of booths, and was decorated for Valentine's Day. They take reservations and were pretty busy. Service was good, although a little slow at the beginning. I tried the following dishes: Cauliflower Manchurian (3/5): This dish was pretty good, but not amazing. I did enjoy it. Garlic Chili Noodles (3.5/5): Pretty good noodles, not very spicy but good flavor and consistency. Hakka Chili Chicken (4/5): I liked this chicken, but my dining partner did not. The chicken was boneless dark meat, which I really like. You can get it with no, light, or full gravy. We did full and had it with rice. I did enjoy this dish. Overall, I had a pretty good experience at HAKA. No dishes were real standouts, but they were all decent. It is not a bad option for Indo-Chinese in the area.

The menu has both indian and chinese dishes. It's not fusion just two different cuisines being sold. We ordered a roll that came with shrimp tempura, mango and salmon. It was very good, a warm grill that felt like a sandwich. The side galore noodles we ordered were dry and not very flavourful. We ordered shrimp with then and they came with fried/tempura shrimp, which we found odd. There was also egg on the dish but it did nothing for the noodles. We ordered the noodles regular so they should have had some sauce but there was none. The chicken dishes were both really good. The chicken wasn't overly fried or breaded. It tasted fresh and had a good bite to it. I like the spicy garlic chicken a bit more because of the spice. The haka chicken was more of a sweet and salty flavor. Both were tasty. If I'm in the area I'll come back here.

It is a large establishment next to the very busy Ikea next door but I surmise people rather eat Swedish meatballs for half the price of Wild Fig. I ordered the Mixed Salad Bowl with chicken and my first impression was that it is quite similar to Cava. However, they emphasize that the main inspiration here is Turkish food which explains why the offer Pides. While Cava most definitely wins in the flavor category, Wild Fig's ingredients are less salty and oily. I would even believe that it might be healthier in that regard? The portions are above average and priced competitively. I was immediately prompted a tip screen on top of a $1 service charge fee. I did not ask what the service charge fee was for but at $12.99 a bowl these days, that is a good deal. I would need to come back a few more times to see if the complaints on other reviews are justified, but my experience today was good.

I also received the crushed chicken pea instead of white rice and I chose the chick pea based dressing. The food was pretty good and tasty. I didn't care too much for a good and hold plate in one setting. The temperature in the salad could have been closer to the temperature of the rest of the food. The steak was a bit chewy for my and the chicken appeared to have a hint of spice. I'm not complaining just stating my preference, my plus one had no mentions about the food but ete really didn't like the idea of them given her a dirty tray.

Their sandwiches are pretty clear in description. I dislike that the chicken sandwich pastrami sauce has pork in it, so anyone who avoids pig products like the plague needs to inform them when making the order. The sandwich itself was pretty good. The bread didn't cause my lips to flare up like other yeasts do. They didn't go heavy on the balsamic vinaigrette. The workers came out to greet me and give me a tour even though it's pretty self explanatory. After the drinks refrigerator and sandwiches menu, there are three additional menus for sides, fruit/veggie smoothies and protein smoothies. I ordered a chocolate protein smoothie and the cups they have are larger than the portions they serve. They apologized like it was an inconvenience to me, but actually I was happy that I didn't have to worry about any overflow or spillage. I think it's great that it's a tad bigger. I also bought a pan de nata to try. They forgot to add the cinnamon, but it didn't need it. It was done to perfection. Bakers of All Nations in Mineola now has some good competition. On the walls surrounding the smoothie bar and dining area there's a mural that explains the type of cuisine you're getting and about the chef's travels. It's kind of neat. Happy eats!
