Food was okay overall. They're mainly known for their kulcha bhatura, which I don't eat, so I ordered the masala dosa -- it was decent. For my kiddo, I ordered idli, but neither of us liked it. I love their food!!! I'm just a white Guri but I absolutely LOVE this place for lunch. I have no idea what's going to be in the Thali, but every dish has its own flavors and the right amount of salt. The rice was perfect , the Naan was fresh, and buttery. We first started out only with Paneer/chicken Masala, but all of their other dishes were so amazing we also love the Thali and the Gobi Manchurian! I really like how well priced the dishes are along with quickness of the service. Hans is great (the owner) always so polite and comes over to check on the guests. He truly cares about his guests. I'm glad I found this place. For fine-dining We go to Lotus, but for a quick lunch/dinner we opt for Mithaas! My friend has ordered from here many times. She grew up in India, and she says their food is the best. She convinced me to try the aloo papri chaat. I've never heard of this food before. There is potatoes, cooked chickpeas, roasted chickpeas, crispy noodles, onions, crispy puffed things, mung beans, cilantro, and spices. I could even finish it. I was so full after eating half of it. I think it's meant to be shared as a snack with others. She didn't even tell me what the food consisted of, so I had no expectations. The only thing she asked is if I liked things spicy, sour, and sweet at the same time. I said yes. We ordered through Uber Eats. The dish is good. But lots of fried things, so made my tongue numb after eating too much. She told me to mix the yogurt sauce, tamarind sauce, and green chutney sauce together with the food. It was really really good, but I think next time I will share it with other people. It's definitely alot for 1 person. And I feel like it's more of an appetizer or snack? Hate to admit it, but Indian food is never my answer when I'm asked 'what do you want for dinner?' So when my restaurant club chose an Indian vegetarian restaurant, this avid meat eater was skeptical. Mithaas is self described Indian street food. They have a few locations in NY and NJ. Inside is almost cafeteria like decor, and they have a counter where you can order food to go as well. Everything was a taste experience for me, but some of my favorites were the spicy okra dish, the mango lassi (omg yum), and there was a lentil stew I really enjoyed. The staff was amazing and so nice, they worked really hard to make the part of 60 people flow seamlessly, and the owner was so gracious as well. This was always my favorite place to eat and their Raj Kachori chaat was my go to, but now the manager and staff have changed and the quality of food has dropped considerably. The Raj Kachori shell was so hard that it was nearly unbreakable and the contents of the chaat were not of the typical raj Kachori. Szechwan noodles were very spicy and the taste was not horrible, but also not good compared to the several other times I've had Szechwan noodles at other restaurants. Chole bhature were not good, batura felt stale. And pav bhaji was inedible as the bhaji tasted like achaar almost and was way too oily. You can't miss this spot right next to a huge supermarket. There's a lot of tables and kept very clean. You can order it to go or stay to eat. The service was fast and attentive. Our food came out minutes after we had ordered. The paneer was a must try as the flavoring on the outside was to die for! We had both the thali and I would pass just because it was mostly rice and naan with a child's palm worth of chickpea or paneer. The club sandwich curly fries were great but the sandwich itself was just salad dressing smeared across toasted bread. I'd definitely come back to try their other items! There are several Indian restaurants in New Jersey that you can choose from. Mithaas is one of the more popular ones. I originally came here for a weekend lunch at a family member's recommendation. It is located right next to the Apna Bazar creating a fun location where you can buy groceries and pick up lunch at the same time. The restaurant was packed with large families sharing meals. We managed to find a table for our group and were quickly greeted by the staff. Mithaas is a purely vegetarian restaurant and known for their sweets. They do serve several South Indian and Indo-Chinese dishes such as the Spring Dosa which I had ordered. The menu prices were accurate for popular Indian street food. The restaurant was very clean and divided into sections for people to sit and order. If you are coming in the evenings or weekends expect long wait times. This is a convenient place to pick up some quick food or sweets for the family. Mithaas has two of my favorite food choices, samosas and dosas. The vegetable samosas were cooked perfectly. Very crunchy on outside and soft on the inside. I ordered the spring dosa which was an interesting mix of a traditional dosa and a Chinese spring roll. The dosas came with sambar, tomato and coconut chutney. It was refreshing to taste a new twist on the traditional dosa. We then ordered Rasmalai and Rasgulla for dessert. If you want quick street food without having a proper sit down experience - Mithaas is the place to go. My family and I always go there to share a bunch of appetizers when we aren't in the mood to have entrees/naans. This time it was three of us and we ordered four items - Raj Kachori, Shezwan Noodles, Veg Seekh Kebob, and Bombay Sandwich (totally devoured the sandwich so forgot to take a photo). After coming back here almost two years later, I can happily say that the quality and the taste remains the same as before! We were pretty happy with our selection, veg seekh kebob being our all time favorite. The only thing I wouldn't order again is the Raj kachori which was way too sweet for our liking. read more

If you want quality Indian food in Long Island, then Mithaas is the place to go. I went with a party of 6 and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. Here is my review of Mithaas in Hicksville, NY. Food 5/5: One of the reasons why I enjoyed Mithaas was because of the large variety of food options. They pretty much have something for everyone to enjoy, especially if you ordering family style with 6 people. The restaurant gives off a fast food vibe as you have to place an order at the front and then wait for your food to be given to you. We ordered the Samosa Chaana chat, schezwan fried rice, rava dosa, dah puri, channa bhatura, and the vada pav. All tasted exceptionally good, however my personal recommendation is to get the vada pav and the samosa chaana chat. Those two dishes alone can fill two people up easily. My only suggestion is that the food could have been spicier. They also have a ton of sweets -- as one might ascertain from the name -- but we did not try any of them. Service 3/5: I think the service could have been better. It is hard to get the attention of the staff and some of the staff do not speak English or Hindi, so it was hard to ask for certain items that were missing from our order. The food did take a long time to be prepared and given to us. I am not sure if that is because of the nature of our larger order or if that is normal. Ambience 4/5: very clean and organized restaurant with plenty of indoor seating. It is definitely a very family friendly place. We had to wait 4 minutes to be seated, which is not a big deal. You can pretty much get seated immediately even on a Sunday. It can be slightly intimidating if you are not of south Asian heritage to order food here unless you know exactly what you want.
