Visited on a Sunday evening for a quick bite before a show. I know it's unusual not to get a dosa at a place named after it, but the Puri Potato Bhaji was delicious. The Chili Paneer was also tasty, but I would have preferred a bit more spicy. The standout for me was the Gobi Manchurian (cauliflower) -- easily among the best I've had. The restaurant is entirely vegetarian and offers super reasonable prices. Parking lot isn't huge but there's street parking nearby too. Yum!

One of my favorite southern Indian and fully vegetarian spots. They have many vegan options as well. Everything I've tried is delicious and has tons of flavor. Service is quick and menu has tons of variety. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu.

I'm not a huge fan of dosas, and this place makes pretty good ones. The Paper Masala Dosa is very big and can be filling by itself. I also had the Somosa Chat which I thought wasn't bad. Lots of seating available. Service was pretty bad though.

Came here for the dosas which were pretty good- lots of options to choose from. The samba it came with was delicious and they gave us extra to go. The vadai and the mango lassi were also great. They also gave us an extra vadai which was nice of them :) they have a decently sized seating area that is pretty casual.

The best part is that the menu has very detailed descriptions of each item so even if you're not super familiar with this cuisine, you'll know how to order. My husband and I started with samosas which were the best I've ever had! If you're a fan, please go and try this and let me know if I'm being hyperbolic, but they were insanely good! I had the Aloo Gobi Masala which was out of this world. The flavors were well balanced and tasty. My husband had the veg biryani. The portions were plenty and the ingredients super fresh! We're so excited to have found a great purely vegetarian Indian restaurant so close to home. We will absolutely be back!

Color me not impressed at all…read more I was in Hot Breads in Hicksville in mid-July to pick up two birthday cakes for my nephew's birthday party. In addition to being a bakery, Hot Breads also markets itself as an indo-Chinese cafe. Knowing we would be several hours early to a birthday party, we had some of the menu offerings. Samosa and samosa chaat were great, but then again it's kind of hard to mess those up. Everything else we ordered was entirely inedible due to the obscene amount of chili that went into the meal. My dining buddies seemed unbothered by the chili so it's good that not a lot of the food went to waste, but some notice of spice (or option to not have the spice) would have been nice. On to the cakes, we ordered two sugar-free cakes due to my brother in law being diabetic. The cakes were light and fluffy and sweet, and I had no idea they were actually sugar free. These cakes get Hot Bread an extra star. The cakes were personalized. I would assume (and, spoiler alert, I'm clearly wrong) that an Indian bakery owner and operated by Indian people would be able to spell an Indian name correctly. Especially when my nephew's name is only two letters long and therefore easy to spell. They spelled it wrong.

But if the food keeps tasting like this, I may have to reconsider my entire personality. The second we walked through the doors, everything slowed down. Soft lighting, warm energy, the smell of fresh spices in the air, quiet conversations floating through the room -- it didn't feel like walking into a restaurant, it felt like walking into someone's home. The kind of place that makes you instantly exhale without even realizing you were holding tension in your body. Nothing about this place feels rushed. The atmosphere invites you to stay awhile. To eat slowly. To talk longer. To actually enjoy the people sitting across from you. We started with the tempura battered vegetables and good lord... crispy, fresh, addictive. Then came the Red Dot salad -- easily one of the best chopped salads I've ever had. Fresh ingredients, bold flavor, every bite tasted intentional. And then the tiki masala arrived and honestly... it felt comforting in a way food rarely does anymore. Warm, rich, healing, like the culinary version of a hug from a stranger who somehow already understands you. You can feel the love in this place. In the food. In the atmosphere. In the people. If you're in a rush, grab takeout. But this is really a place meant to be experienced. Sit down. Stay awhile. Eat, talk, laugh, savor. Total eat, pray, love energy.
