I met a friend at BIGGIE'S on January 3rd for lunch and the experience is always satisfying! BIGGIE'S is located at 430 Route 17 South in Carlstadt and today I had the Shrimp Avocado Salad ($29.25) along with a Iced Tea ($3). The interior is tastefully New Jersey with many pictures of Garden State icons and alike and the help is excellent as Camryn who served our meal was friendly and attentive to detail. Centrally located in South Bergen there menu is quite extensive and this is a great place to catch a game or stop by after going to Met Life. I can't believe Biggie's has always been 10 mins away and i'm trying it after so many years. Had to stop in twice on a trip back home! Family friendly environment, with amazing service, and even better food! Biggie's is also great to watch a game and get a drink. Went twice for lunch and dinner. Decided to grab a quick lunch at Biggies. As a sports bar, it seemed like the ideal choice, especially since I've been there a few times before and had decent experiences. To my surprise, they carried Kumamoto oysters--one of my favorites--which was a great find. I also ordered a wrap, which was solid. The real highlight, however, was the service. The bartender was a seasoned professional who understood I was in a rush and timed everything perfectly. With a few minutes to spare, I decided to treat myself to a pour of Don Julio 1942. I've been in the business for over two decades, so I understand pricing, markups, and the balance between quality and cost. Typically, I'd expect a pour like this to fall in the $35-$45 range at a place like Biggies. Fortunately, I asked for the check at the same time as my drink, and to my surprise, it was $75--a staggering price considering the entire bottle retails for around $160. When I brought it up, the bartender, staying professional, involved a manager. While I don't fault the manager personally, the response was disappointing. Instead of acknowledging how this pricing might come across to customers, I was met with an argument that "there are only five neat pours per bottle." Let's break that down-- a 750ml bottle is roughly 25oz, and even with a generous 2oz pour, that means this pricing values the bottle at $1,000. That is well beyond what's reasonable for this type of establishment.RESPECTFULLY I'd strongly suggest reconsidering this pricing strategy because, simply put, no one is paying that twice. If the goal is to move product, this approach isn't sustainable. On a business trip for 4 days. We will be dining at Biggie's the 3rd evening. First off the first night we had Nicole as our waitress. Second night we had Amy. Outstanding service from each! There was not one thing you could complain about! Friendly, made you laugh just very wonderful people!! The food at Biggie's outstanding! Lobster Bisque, New England chowder all is to die for! Best place to get fresh raw clams and chowder! They have a bar area usually packed and loud with people watching sports on their many TV's or a quieter dining area. We have been coming here for years and even took a class with the owner years ago on how to shuck clams. Prices are a bit high, but service and quality of food has always been excellent. There are many dishes to choose from, but we tend to stick to our favorites. Clams, soup, steak sandwich, po boy with fried clam belly, coconut shrimp, and mussels. Go during happy hour and save some money as there are plenty of appetizer like dishes to grab as well as drinks. Parking lot is a bit tight and during football games it's difficult find a spot. The restaurant used to be great for all occasions, but it is much better for a quick stop for a drink and appetizer to catch up with a friend. The prices of the food are high and not worth it anymore. The seafood is still fresh, but the Oyster Rockefeller was very soupy and wasn't broiled for a light crust or coloring on top. The oyster and filling didn't complement each other at all. The best part of the dish was the Oyster Oreganata. My friend ordered the soup, and she said the soup was ok but didn't have a lobster flavor or lobster in the soup. The bread bowl wasn't great. The waiters and waitresses were all very nice with a warm greeting at the door by the hostess. The bar wasn't too loud and offered many different sports games, so that there was something to watch for everyone. Amazing busy sports bar is what I would call it. This restaurant serves the best clams, oysters, mussels, meatballs and garlic cheesesteak sandwich you'll ever taste. The owners and staff walk around and have you feel like you're family. I liked the seafood fiesta enough that someday I might try the items that are popular but don't exactly match the aesthetic, such as Thai chili shrimp and tuna tacos. The fiesta sauce wasn't showy, letting the super-fresh scallop, shrimp, calamari and mussels take the stage, but by the end I got a spoon to get it all. At the risk of boring those who didn't sign up for my Intermediate Uber Eats Geography seminar, I'm not sure why a place in Carlstadt shows up on the app sometimes here in JC, but I'll note the order was reasonably fast and was still hot after the journey. I have never been here before, but I was in town, and I like oysters, so I thought I would take a chance. Place was CRAZY busy on a Friday night. Parking lot is small and hard to navigate. If you have to exit figure 10 minutes to get back and try again because NJ traffic patterns suck. The bar was -very- crowded at 8:30 on a Friday, but I eventually got a seat. Dispute all this, HOWEVER, this place is worth the effort. The BEST Blue Point Oysters I have EVER had. Large, fresh, and very tasty. I tried their Rockefeller as well, and they were spectacular. I finished with the Buffalo wings that my bartender suggested I try grilled, and they were awesome. I was talking to the guys next to me about their entrees, and they were very pleased too with their clams and Mac n Cheese. I HIGHLY recommend Biggie's, and I will be back tomorrow for more. We slid in here yesterday night around 9:30 to grab a quick nighttime bite for my mom's birthday. I was not expecting the level of deliciousness and service I was hit with! I thought we were just gonna grab some quick diner food from a place easily accessible from the American Dream mall, which closes at 9pm. AMAZING creamy sauce, LARGE shrimp, MUSSELS, (I don't like scallops so I gave them all to my mom) well-flavored, speckled with green parsley (?) flakes, even the PRESENTATION was superb, it was so mouth-watering to LOOK at. I wasn't even that HUNGRY before I started eating it, and then I couldn't get enough. It's one of the higher priced items on the menu at $27.75 but it's WORTH IT. My sister got a cheeseburger and fries; sounds basic next to my plate but those fries were also on point and I kept eating hers. My mom also had the tiramisu at the end and she says it was also delectable, and the waitress even sang happy birthday with us to her. I would most definitely return here if in the area. Biggie's has great options to select from their menu. From light to heavy especially for Keto or Low Carb eaters. Parking lot is not huge and I call ahead of time and ask if there's a wait. One thing that disappoints me is their bread. I had to ask for it which annoys me plus it was cold including the butter. Overall the food is good. I really wanted the special "Sunday's Gravy" which is rigatoni with pork butt and homemade meatballs but I was low carb eating so I just got ribs with baked potato. It was huge and delicious. They had a large menu that had seafood, burgers, and a number of Italian dishes in a sports bar atmosphere, very different. The friendly service was top notch as everything came out quickly. For a starter, I shared the Thai chili calamari ($14.25). It was fried calamari with their homemade sweet, but spicy Thai chili sauce. It was more sweet than spicy. The calamari were fried to perfection, but I thought the sauce was decent because of the poor balance. I had the seafood salad ($16.50) as my meal. It consisted of scallops, shrimp, mussels, calamari, celery and red onions marinated in olive oil, lemon juice, and Italian herbs over iceberg lettuce. There was a ton of seafood present in the dish. All were very fresh and delicious. I would have liked a bit more of the Italian herbs and olive oil, but regardless, extremely appetizing. I also tried the taco pizza that had spiced ground beef, sauteed red onions, pepper jack and cheddar cheese with shredded lettuce, tomatoes and a lime sour cream with a chipotle mayo drizzle. It was just okay. The beef was not seasoned the best and I did not think a chipotle mayo drizzle was needed on this type of pizza given the rest of the toppings. For dessert, the tartufo ($7.50) was ordered. It was a vanilla and chocolate gelato with a chocolate hard shell. There was a poor ratio of whipped cream to gelato as there was too much whipped cream. The gelato was creamy and smooth. Will I go back? Easily. read more

Packed parking lot, the place was full max capacity on Thursday evening 7pm. Had nice craft beer on tap, followed by raw clams (should have gotten more than 1/2 dozen, so good and fresh), steamed mussels white sauce (they put out the italian bread for a reason, sauce just taste better soaked in bread) and we split a seafood fiesta pasta dish (seafood pasta in fra diavolo sauce). Everything good fresh and decent serving sizes. Noticed that most of the diners looked local and they looked like they could eat a lot; from our experience this is a good place to go for fresh seafood and more at a decent price and serving sizes. I've passed Biggies on 17 a million times and finally stopped into for happy hour. My friend and I were seated right away and realized the happy hour menu was mostly bar food with a small selection of seafood sliders. We decide to start off with a drink, they had 5 dollar martinis and I feel like that's where it all went wrong for me. I ordered a lychee martini and my friend got a peach Bellini. Hers tasted more like an orange cosmo and once I told the waitress she came back with the same exact drink. There wasn't a single hint of peach in it. As for my lychee martini, all I tasted was grapefruit. It wasn't bad but definitely not what was advertised. We moved onto the bar food, we decided on : Mozzarella sticks - can't go wrong Firecracker shrimp - it was good, not a spicy sauce and the shrimp was cooked well. Calamari - it was sooo oily, definitely wouldn't recommend it. 2 for 6 sliders - buffalo chicken and pulled pork. Chicken was good, pulled pork was not my favorite. Overall, for bar food and a happy hour menu there's dive bars with better grub around the area. I probably wouldn't go back to this location. Parking is also a little rough here. read more

Food was really good, we ordered the Taco Pizza, the seafood with lobster cream sauce (we substituted the rice with noodles) and the seafood fiesta. We shared all 3 since we each wanted to try it all lol we also had a children's mozzarella sticks and fries and she enjoyed it. Sangria was meh and honestly myself and two friends were highly disappointed by the server. Rarely came by, took forever for orders and only time she was quick was with the check. Getting seated was a short wait and the dessert (chocolate lava cake) which we were very excited looked a lot better than it tasted. I used to love coming to this place. And I did 3-4 times a week. Most of the menu items were good to great at that time (pre-Covid). However, I returned recently after over a year and seemed like everything went down hill. Ordered clams casino which was dry/salty, clams oreganata was burnt, even steamed clams was tasteless (very watery butter broth)... which was sad cause I used to love dipping bread in it. Also ordered flounder which you can see in the pictures, there was literally 1mm of fish and soggy breading for $24.50. I also tried few more dishes because at this point I was getting sad. Last night, 5/2/23, I experienced direct physical and verbal assault from a server and the manager/owner I believe named Steve. I am writing this review to express my serious disappointment with the customer experience and management at this restaurant. I had placed an order for rigatoni arrabbiata with shrimp, instead of chicken. Upon arrival, I noticed an additional charge for the shrimp. I ask if the additional charge could please be removed since I was not informed of the extra fee over the phone when ordering. The manager Steve then comes over, and his first aggressive words are "You don't want to pay for your food". I kindly explain the situation to him. He does first seem to understand and begins checking me out, but then starts to get aggressive again while stating I should have known it was extra money for shrimp. As I begin to explain the situation again, Steve then becomes physical by attempting to grab the food from my hands and yelling for me to leave. I would like to clarify that up until that point I was not rude or aggressive toward this manager, at all. He then proceeds to walk around the host stand and begins to assault me by grabbing my clothes and pushing me against the window. As I try to get the food and yell for someone to call the police, another staff member runs over and instead of helping me begins to do the same by grabbing my clothes and shoving me to the ground, without asking any questions or understanding the situation. They are yelling for me to get out, but they are both physically on top of me. I yell at the two men, if they would just get off of me, I would leave. At this point, the manager follows me outside while I was yelling that I'm calling the police. As Im retrieving my phone from my car to call the cops, he again tried to attack me by attempting to throw punches and had to be physically restrained by his own staff members. He then threw my food at my car and threatened to beat me up if I ever came back again. (Car pictures below) I apologize if they felt I was in the wrong for asking for the bill to be adjusted, but I cannot justify my request equaling or resulting in physical assault and being forcibly thrown out of the establishment. And at the end of the day, the manger could have just said no to my request. It did not have to result in violence. I have never experienced something like this in my life and I'm horrified by my experience at Biggies and wanted to bring attention to the violent and hostile behavior of their staff. Truthfully, I pray that this establishment deals (harshly and fairly) with the persons involved and that as a consumer no one has to encounter this level of violence for a simple disagreement. read more
