In addition, I was working from home a lot. I had just purchased a 2021 Ford Explorer, which should handle some snow. The winter came and went without any difficulties. Fast forward to December 2025 and the situation changed dramatically. I was no longer working remotely as much, and so far it's been an old fashioned Minnesota winter, with all the cold and snow that comes with it. On 12/09/2025, we had a pretty decent winter storm roll on through and it was life altering in the sense I've never been afraid while behind the wheel of a car -- until now. I was barely able to stay on the road. The tires that were on the car were so bad I couldn't even make it up a 3 - 4% grade hill near my house. I needed tires badly. Discount Tire has been my go-to for tires for the past couple of decades. I made an appointment for 12/20 and ordered the tires I wanted. Mother Nature wanted to time t me though, and what was supposed to be just a "dusting of snow" on 12/18 turned into a winter weather advisory. It wasn't as bad as the week before, but it was bad enough that I didn't want to have to deal with it anymore, if I didn't have to. On Friday, December 19, I got off work early so I called Discount Tire and begged to get in to have them installed. The person I spoke with told me to bring it in and they would get everything installed that day. I cannot express my gratitude enough for them making the accommodation to get me in, even a day earlier. Now, I'll be able to navigate the remainder of winter without nearly the difficulty I once had. Thank you to those that stayed late to get my tires installed and get me back on the road!
