So I figured I'd write another review due to additional issues with this company. In addition to the rear axle work I had done there that failed multiple times (which I've written a review on) , I just had more rework done. Although this time I brought it to a reputable shop to have the work done as: 1. Bernings doesn't honor their work, no warranty. 2. I didn't want to go through the same issue I had with the rear axle, paying for repairs and then repeated failures. 3. I' wanted the work done right. The universal joint that was replaced at Bernings turned out to be the incorrect part which then of course failed. In addition, the tie rod end I had replaced at Bernings also failed. As I stated in my previous review, the technicians (I'm using this term very loosely with these clowns) have no clue what they're doing. And the owner, your typical con man. So be warned, stay away from Bernings. read more

everytime i have car issues i call these guys and they make sure to get me in asap! they're friendly and work hard on our vehicles every day! some places make me feel stupid when i try and explain what's wrong with my car but bernings does NOT. very nice and easy going :) read more

Bernings was recommended from a friend. The price of the work I had done here was $80. The only shop I called quoted me $150-175. I gave Bernings a $10 tip, and I'll be back again. I can't see myself even buying tires elsewhere.. read more

Since moving to the area, I have used Bernings 7 or 8 times and can find no fault with them. Their service is good, mechanics are professional, competent while their pricing is very fair. They have gone out of their way to save me money three times now and I would definitely recommend them. read more

I needed a new repair shop so I tried these guys out. I don't know how other people gave them only a one star. They were fantastic to work with and they only did things that I needed done and did not change me for extra things. Took my first SUV in and the sound I was hearing was nothing and check everything over. Did not try to up sale me just fixed what was Broken. So then I brought my other SUV in and they did a great job there as well. I will be using these guys from now on. Please support this small shop. They are local and not a big chain. Been going here for years, but every once in a while get stupid and fall for a coupon from someone else. Consistently this place has done quality work, been honest, provided fantastic customer service, and offered very fair prices. There is no other place I would recommend for tires or service and repairs. read more

Bernings is a wonderful place. I take my vehicle here for routine maintenance and oil changes. They are honest on what you need or don't need. Usually have many appointments available. They are busy quite often so an appointment is usually necessary. I love the convenience of having a reputable mechanic shop in town. Highly recommend! read more

I had my rear diff done in June of 2018 and had specifically requested that all seals and bearing be replaced, including the axle seals as this is what is recommended when performing this repair. I was told this would all be done and have texts from one of the techs stating this. By November of 2018 the passenger side axle seal was leaking. I contacted the tech and was told they in fact did not replace the axle seals and it would now cost me $230 to have this fixed. (I have photos and the string of texts of the conversation we had.) This was suppose to be part of the original repair yet they charged me anyway. By December of 2018 the rear diff completely failed. So I brought it back in again to have repaired. And yet again just recently the rear diff failed again. John told me to bring it in and they would let me know what they could do to fix it. Mark ended up calling me and told me it would cost another $400 to have it repaired. When I questioned why it would not be replaced at no charge as it should not have failed this soon (less than 15,000 miles), he got rude and told me I could pay or come pick up my the vehicle and take it someplace else. Knowing that it would cost me over $1,000 again to have it fixed somewhere else. So beware when having your vehicles serviced here. Mark has absolutely no customer service skills and is a complete scam artist. And the techs, I wouldn't trust them to fill up my tires properly. Also, with the pattern I've seen by this company when receiving negative reviews, I'm sure they're response to this will be " We don't seem to have a record of you coming in". Unfortunately I have had to bring my car into Bernings twice in the two months I have lived in Hanover. Both times for separate problems. I have been extremely Happy with the service I have received from these guys. They will take the time to explain everything that needs to be done without trying to sell you on something you don't really need. Without knowing prices for certain parts required to fix certain problems, I don't see how you could find a more fairly priced shop. Nobody ever really wants the service these guys offer but, if you need your car worked on these guys guys are tough to beat. read more

My check engine light was on, drove in C& G. mechnic gets is diagnostic tool to read the codes, plug into the connector, just a plug not connected to code machine plug hanging from my car. Tells me it is scanning my car. BULL Sxxx1 and then he mention a leak in the line, to find the leak it would cost $140.00. Do a smoke test. YEAH right he was blowing smoke to me!! Went to another auto shop the gas cap was not on tight. the check engine light went off. read more

Bernings is super awesome. I was headed up to Detroit Lakes over the fourth of July weekend to see my best friend who flew up from Louisiana. She has sever MS and it meant the world to me to see her as she isn't able to come home very often. On my way up north driving from Maple Grove engine lights are starting to go off. I knew it was my alternator right away because my car went into a low engine power mode. I exited off I94 onto 241 and started looking for an auto shop. Bernings was right there off the main road and thought this is a stab in the dark to get my car repaired quickly and are honest people. They tested it and it was the alternator. It was around 4:00pm and a busy holiday weekend but the guys were courteous and supportive to replace the alternator right away. I was very upset and crying as it really did mean the world to visit with my best friend as it isn't often we get to be together. They offered me soda or coffee and were supportive of reassurance this was the problem. I also know the main basics about repairing several things on a vehicle. The guys didn't make me feel, as a women, I didn't have a clue about the problem but praised me for understanding what the issue was and how to fix it. If you own a imported vehicle, don't bring it to this shop. The shop is dirty, no place for you to sit and the owner is after to get your money. They will tell you that they could do the job but in the end will ruin your car and cost you more money to fix it because they will also break something else in your vehicle. They will give you a cost estimate low enough to bring your car in but you will pay double or more because they will work on your car for so long because they don't know what the hell they are doing. I had a wheel bearing replace on my car, they replaced it but they also stripped two threads in my wheel bearing carrier that holds two of the control arms in my suspension. They fixed them buy installing low grade bolts and nuts to squeeze the arms in place that broke after 10 months. If I had not inspected it after hearing some noise, I would probably ended up in the ditch. Also, the bolts that hold the lower control arm that they removed and put back on was not tighten to spec because the bolt was ready to fall off. If you have a domestic car, you can probably bring your car in, but if you own a imported car, take it somewhere else, take it to the dealer if you have to. I thought i could save some $$$ by bringing it here, but boy was I wrong. Take it from me, don't bring you car here, you will regret it at the end. read more
