White chocolate pistachio malt

Jay helped us make the right choice. She recommended the red chicken Philly and it was truly amazing. Thank you Jay for being a true pro!

Hayli Z.

Love that they have veggie options. I got the build your own, so you can choose chicken, veggie meat and steak, then you can pick your cheese and up to 3 toppings. It was pretty good, I got the veggie with mushrooms, peppers and onion and Swiss. The cheese pull on that Swiss was INSANE! I was able to reach my hand fully above me and the cheese at still stretching. Quick service, plenty of parking. I wouldn't go all the time because I dont usually like fake meats but I love that they have this option in Gainesville.

Ribeye Cheesesteak with whiz, onions, peppers and a side of fries with special sauce and ketchup
Miller Q.

Might just be the best cheesesteak I've had in Florida. Meat was tender and paired perfectly with the whiz, peppers, and onions. Bun was soft and didn't get soggy. Fries were crispy and a went well with their special sauce. Service was great, everyone was super friendly and answered any questions. Casual vibe since the food truck was parked at a brewery. Would definitely recommend trying this place out if you see it!

Regular cheesesteak with white American cheese and onions

Great cheesesteaks! Took my wife here for a quick lunch prior to the Gators game. I loved my sandwich but she was blown away. Immediately exclaimed it was the best cheesesteak she's had in Gainesville. Atmosphere is cool too! I loved the menu selection! But what really sold it for us was the customer service! Everyone was so friendly and helpful! The manager checked on every table. And at least four staff members came out from the kitchen to check on us. This place is really good! Support local! But also support good places!

food was SO SO GOOD. HUGE shoutout to Kori, her help was incredible. she was so kind throughout the entire process and helped us figure out our order. Thank you to Ari as well! Cannot recommend this place enough if you're craving an INCREDIBLE philly cheesesteak

Noah A.

Classic cheesesteak was delicious. French fries were nice and crispy with a little seasoning salt. Couldn't ask for anything more. Cori was friendly from the second I stepped foot in the place. I asked her what she would recommend. She jumped right on the classic cheesesteak and I went with it.

Veggie dog with sautéed onions & side of onion rings
Alyssa M.

The food here is really good and while it's not the nicest atmosphere, it definitely has a fun vibe and is themed well. The onion rings were really nice and crispy and went well with the sauce. The service was great and pretty fast. It's a nice casual place and I'd love to come back to try some of their other food options.

Big Philly Cheesesteak with mushrooms onions and peppers

All I can say is wow. I'm born and raised in Philly and this place has a better cheesesteak than 90% of places there. I've tried them all. Carmela's, John's roast pork, oregons, Angelo's, Jim's steaks and soda, Delasandro's, I mean u name it this cheesesteak is better. The bread is soft, the cheese is melted through, the steak tastes amazing. Got the classic white American with mushrooms onions and green peppers and everything tastes fresh. You won't be disappointed.

Carnival style fried Oreos.

Driving home to Houston from Orlando and discovered this gem of a place. The service was more befitting of a 4-5 star restaurant. The ladies were great to all visitors! The food was well worth the drive near campus. Don't even get me started with the fried Oreos. All 3 of us were beyond pleased!

Reviews are largely positive. Many highlight the cheesesteaks and burgers, friendly and attentive staff, and casual retro atmosphere. Drinks and desserts are also well-liked.

The onion rings are nice and crispy and taste delicious. So for starters, this was my first time here. I had heard mixed reviews but ultimately it's a Gainesville staple. We decided to go for breakfast one morning and naturally I looked at the menu before I went. Okay so it is an old, local eatery. I mean really old. The speakers to order are so worn and honestly easy to miss. I had no idea they were even there. I had to back up because I drove right by. And then you're practically having to yell to order, or at least that was my experience. They cook to order so once I ordered I waited maybe 10 minutes at the window. The customer service also wasn't the best I'll add. My order ended up being wrong which just made matters worse. One thing to note is the entire menu is served the whole time they're open. Will I try it again? Maybe. It is pretty pricey and so far I'm not convinced you get what you pay for.

As I get closer, on my bike, I can see that he works here, so I am first in line!! Wow, what a treat!! Lovely smile on the lady who asked me what I'd have. Just two cheeseburgers and side of fries, for me. Didn't take too, long. Service with a smile and the wish of having a good day. I bike around looking for a place to munch! I decide the brick walls at BDP! Yes!! Driving my teeth into the soft texture of bread and the bold flavor of beef, so glad I got two of them!

So yeah, expectations were not exactly low. I pulled up and kept it simple. Cheeseburger, fries, large iced tea. No need to get cute when you're dealing with a place that's been doing one thing longer than most people have had careers. Let's start with the burger, because wow. This thing absolutely delivers. Cooked to order, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and hits that sweet spot where you take a bite and immediately understand why people won't shut up about it. Five out of five, no notes, no complaints. This is the kind of burger that makes you question every overpriced, overbuilt "gourmet" burger you've ever had. This is how it's supposed to be done. And then... the fries showed up. Hot? Yes. Fresh? Seemed like it. But somehow they pulled off the impressive trick of being both hot and soggy at the same time. It's like they skipped the part where fries are supposed to have texture. Total letdown, especially sitting next to a burger that's basically winning awards in my head. The iced tea did its job. No drama there. So here's where I land. The burger alone is worth the trip. It lives up to the legend, no exaggeration. But those fries dragged the whole experience down just enough to knock it to four stars. Mac's is this close to perfection. Fix the fries, and we're not even having a conversation. Right now, it's a legendary burger with a side of "what happened here?"

I've been enjoying Afternoon since the very start. I've watched the decor evolve. The patio is a…read morebig favorite. I prefer inside, as I'm a people watcher and I love to see "the machine" work when I'm dining. The crew is always very fun and kind. I admire how well the training seems to be. The food is just healthy, simple and done right. They use some actual imagination and ingenuity while still maintaining a scratch kitchen and not completely going crazy. I admire this. It's not easy. Produce is a gamble daily. Meat prices are insane. Afternoon does not compromise. I never needed anything more than a blood orange mimosa and avocado toast, maybe the occasional Dutch baby or pasty. However, the mystery, mystique, whimsy and steadfast "fresh to death" food stance will make you want to try new things here. I am a vegetarian, but more than that I'm picky and they have always had more than enough delectable options. I was happy with brunch... and now I'm elated and estatic about the new dinner service. I've visited twice for "After Dark" and it was exceptional. It has some real creativity without sacrificing your health. I'm a fanatic. Please give them a visit and try something new. Life is too short to skip meals at Afternoon! I love them and you will too. Not many spots in Gainesville cook food that is good for you to eat daily. They also brew coffee and they are in a pretty fun neighborhood. Across from Cypress & Grove Brewery. Same parking lot as Serendipity & Working Food. It's the Entertainment District so you can grab a cocktail and walk your dog home! I don't get paid for reviews (yet) :)

We were seated outside, & it was a lovely day. I got the Cheddar & Chive Scone ($5, on their seasonal menu), & I really liked it! It was baked perfectly to be crispy on the outside & soft & doughy on the inside. I also got the Dutch Baby, because I was intrigued by how unique it sounded. I enjoyed it! It's described as an oven-baked pancake, & it has thinner edges & it's really soft in the middle; a bread pudding type of consistency. The seasonal toppings they used this day were caramelized apple pieces & a light glaze, & I thought both of those elements worked well with it. They weren't overpoweringly sweet, which I was a little concerned about at first. The portion was good for the $14 price; I took a bit of it home as leftovers. My friends, who both got The Big Break, thought the scrambled eggs were soft & well-seasoned, with a higher quality taste than a typical diner. The bacon is cured in-house & was crispy & delicious. My only gripe with the experience was how long it took to get our food. From the time we ordered to the time we received it, it'd been 40-45 minutes. Since it didn't seem very busy, this seemed excessively long. Overall, lovely place, reasonable prices, good food. I recommend it!
