Jill got my order and Amp cranked out and pressed the yummy sandwiches, and off I went! Both sandwiches were very delicious. Mine came with meats, sourdough bread (special order), no cheese and no mayo due to dietary restrictions but I went for the spicy mustard! My wonderful wife got an amazing sandwich full of house made ingredients called a Tre Way Jay! Everything on the menu looks incredible and we can't wait to return! Our first choices were excellent! So for starters, this was my first time here. I had heard mixed reviews but ultimately it's a Gainesville staple. We decided to go for breakfast one morning and naturally I looked at the menu before I went. Okay so it is an old, local eatery. I mean really old. The speakers to order are so worn and honestly easy to miss. I had no idea they were even there. I had to back up because I drove right by. And then you're practically having to yell to order, or at least that was my experience. They cook to order so once I ordered I waited maybe 10 minutes at the window. The customer service also wasn't the best I'll add. My order ended up being wrong which just made matters worse. One thing to note is the entire menu is served the whole time they're open. Will I try it again? Maybe. It is pretty pricey and so far I'm not convinced you get what you pay for.

We had some long time friends come down with us as well. Our first stop on our Gainesville Adventure was here! I ordered the #9. Tony Montana Cubano. I do believe all those makes the difference. If you like Cuban sandwich's you must try this one. Also our friends with us ordered the #12 Uncle Drew Monte Cristo and shared and they loved it! All the staff were super friendly! It took about 10 minutes for us to get our sandwich's. Everything was clean and well kept. Definitely recommend The Paper Bag!

As it was summer break, a lot of the other businesses in the building were closed (Vietnamese and Italian restaurant as well as a boba place). The place looks like it was being run by a hardworking couple. We checked out the menu and my wife ordered the Gyro Platter and I ordered the Souvlaki Platter. We also ordered a couple of fountain drinks. The gyro meat was well seasoned and tender. The Greek salad was quite good. The chicken souvlaki, however, seemed to lack flavor and a bit dry. Portions were quite generous and the value was there. We actually packed our leftovers for some quesadillas later. If we do go back, I would order the gyro instead of the chicken souvlaki. NOTE: They don't validate parking which was $3 for an hour

Housed inside the Honda dealership on the corner of 39th and Main, there is no outside advertising... you just sort of have to know it is there. They only serve breakfast and lunch, and it appears that their lunch menu is purely ad-hoc each day, with daily specials posted on a board. I pulled up and walked into the dealership, skirting my way around the sales folks that wanted to sell me a car, and found the cafe in the back near parts. I looked over the menu, and went for a Cuban sandwich. I had to wait about ten minutes for the sandwich to be made, which is fine. They make to-order, and there were a couple of others ahead of me, so all was good. These are not the huge Cuban sandwiches you may have had at other places (all of the ones I have had were in South Florida), but it is still a decent size and at a reasonable price for its size. I got out of there for under $10. The sandwich was good, and they are going to remain on my list of places that have possibilities during the lunchtime hour as they are relatively close to work for me.

So yeah, expectations were not exactly low. I pulled up and kept it simple. Cheeseburger, fries, large iced tea. No need to get cute when you're dealing with a place that's been doing one thing longer than most people have had careers. Let's start with the burger, because wow. This thing absolutely delivers. Cooked to order, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and hits that sweet spot where you take a bite and immediately understand why people won't shut up about it. Five out of five, no notes, no complaints. This is the kind of burger that makes you question every overpriced, overbuilt "gourmet" burger you've ever had. This is how it's supposed to be done. And then... the fries showed up. Hot? Yes. Fresh? Seemed like it. But somehow they pulled off the impressive trick of being both hot and soggy at the same time. It's like they skipped the part where fries are supposed to have texture. Total letdown, especially sitting next to a burger that's basically winning awards in my head. The iced tea did its job. No drama there. So here's where I land. The burger alone is worth the trip. It lives up to the legend, no exaggeration. But those fries dragged the whole experience down just enough to knock it to four stars. Mac's is this close to perfection. Fix the fries, and we're not even having a conversation. Right now, it's a legendary burger with a side of "what happened here?"

I prefer inside, as I'm a people watcher and I love to see "the machine" work when I'm dining. The crew is always very fun and kind. I admire how well the training seems to be. The food is just healthy, simple and done right. They use some actual imagination and ingenuity while still maintaining a scratch kitchen and not completely going crazy. I admire this. It's not easy. Produce is a gamble daily. Meat prices are insane. Afternoon does not compromise. I never needed anything more than a blood orange mimosa and avocado toast, maybe the occasional Dutch baby or pasty. However, the mystery, mystique, whimsy and steadfast "fresh to death" food stance will make you want to try new things here. I am a vegetarian, but more than that I'm picky and they have always had more than enough delectable options. I was happy with brunch... and now I'm elated and estatic about the new dinner service. We were seated outside, & it was a lovely day. I got the Cheddar & Chive Scone ($5, on their seasonal menu), & I really liked it! It was baked perfectly to be crispy on the outside & soft & doughy on the inside. I also got the Dutch Baby, because I was intrigued by how unique it sounded. I enjoyed it! It's described as an oven-baked pancake, & it has thinner edges & it's really soft in the middle; a bread pudding type of consistency. The seasonal toppings they used this day were caramelized apple pieces & a light glaze, & I thought both of those elements worked well with it. They weren't overpoweringly sweet, which I was a little concerned about at first. The portion was good for the $14 price; I took a bit of it home as leftovers. My friends, who both got The Big Break, thought the scrambled eggs were soft & well-seasoned, with a higher quality taste than a typical diner. The bacon is cured in-house & was crispy & delicious. My only gripe with the experience was how long it took to get our food. From the time we ordered to the time we received it, it'd been 40-45 minutes. Since it didn't seem very busy, this seemed excessively long. Overall, lovely place, reasonable prices, good food. I recommend it!
