One word- delish! Waitress was warm and friendly. Food delish! Loved my pork chops and the hush puppies. Love all the food!

Myrtle Beach Mike's is a jewel! It was close to where we stayed. I had grilled pork chops, yams and collards greens. Each bite was heavenly!! Seasoned well, cooked slowly and served hot!!!

Service - 4/5 Ambiance - 4/5 Wait time - 1/5 (44 minutes) Fried pork chop 3.8/5 Fried whiting 3/5 -smelled a little too fishy for me and needed a bit more seasoning Fries - 3.8/5 typical crinkle cut Macaroni and cheese 3.6/5 Sweet potatoes 3.8/5 - a lil heavy on the cinnamon, personal preference though Collard greens 3.8/5 Sweet Tea 5/5 Kool-Aid 5/5 Corn bread 3.8/5 Beignets 3.8/5 Not bad. They're croissant beignets so they taste nothing like New Orleans beignets. Basically everything needed more seasoning. Wait is loooong.

Service was great she came and got our drink order right away. The food came out fast too. Big Mike came out and thanked everyone for coming in and eating at his place. Said his mom was back in the kitchen so he could step out for a second. This is just a little place. Has a diner vibe. They have a pick up window for to go orders or if you want to eat outside. Parking lot is small but we got a spot. Ribs are only Friday's. Our favorites, sweet potatoes, okra, baked Mac and cheese, fried pork chops, hush puppies But we liked the Lima beans, potato salad, coleslaw If you're looking for soul food or southern cooking this is a great place.

These were SO DAMN GOOD!!!!

First, everything felt "sticky" and dirty, like a church fellowship hall in the 90s. Place could def use 1 super deep cleaning and sprucing up to make the place look better. The waitress was kind, we did have to signal her down to get our check at the end. It wasn't THAT busy on the inside but I understand. We ALL (3 of us, keep that in mind) had the catfish nuggets, which is $1.50 Upcharges on the fish orders for some reason. They did not have catfish fillets, just whiting. The Mac n cheese 1 out of 5. Wasn't the greatest, mostly dry Cabbage 0 out of 5. It was just nasty Catfish nuggets 2 out of 5: they weren't hot and you could tell they had cooled down a lot before bringing them out to us. You do get a decent amount also. Also had some crinkle fries and you could tell they came fresh out the oil. Hush puppies were HARD AFFFF! I didn't even know they were on my plate at first, they looked like pieces of the fish. I didn't try to bite into them. beignets were AMAZING! I could have eaten those all night. They came out hot and fresh. My sweet tea was pretty good. After we ate, all 3 of us, had stomach aches. I was just dealing with it until my 8 year old said she wasn't feeling well then my cousin also said her stomach was upsetting her. The only thing we ate in common were the catfish nuggets!! Parking was packed but cars were in and out as they had the pick up window. We got seated pretty quickly also. $73 later, I'm simply was not satisfied and if I ever visit Myrtle Beach, this wouldn't be on my lists of places to eat. I do wish Big Mike and his business well!

Big Mike's Soul Food is located in South Myrtle Beach off 16th Avenue. They are in a standalone building that has its own parking and overflow parking. They also have a walk-up window for pickup orders. I had a great experience here, everyone was super friendly from the host to our waiter. Our waiter walked us through the daily specials and menu offering suggestions when we asked. We ordered a variety of dishes, and it was hard to choose favorites. However, the fried pork chop, mac & cheese, rice & gravy, mashed potatoes & gravy, and cabbage all stood out. My absolute favorite though was the Kool-Aid it was sweet and so good. If you are in Myrtle Beach and looking for some home cooking or soul food definitely do yourself a favor and check this place out. Take a look at the menu and also check out their daily specials it may determine what day you decide to check them out. I will be going again before we end our vacation.

My first time trying Mike's today. For years now, I've heard great things about this place--the best "soul food" around. So I put in an online order today. My food was ready to go on time and... that's as good as it gets from there on. Maybe today was a bad day for them. At least I hope anyway... Literally everything from the cornbread to the fried chicken and everything in between was dry as hell. I had the sirloin with onions and gravy along with rice and gravy- dry. Maybe 4 teaspoons of gravy on top of all of it. The cornbread was so dry it turned to dust once I picked it up. The fried chicken was dry and wasn't crispy. In my opinion, the grease they fried it in needs to be changed because it had that old oil taste to it. The peach cobbler tasted old and starchy. The coleslaw hardly had any taste, dry. Everything tasted dry and not fresh. The Mac and cheese was the only thing that wasn't dry, it was just oily with some burnt cheese here and there. A sweet tea. A big Mike plate, a lil Mike plate, a peach cobbler without the ice cream-$39 dollars... wasted.

I got take out here, so I was only able to get a quick glance at their menu. There wasn't much parking, but they have an additional lot. It was a Monday, so I got a side of ribs $6.50. I also ordered $23.50 shrimp boil and $11.75 Little Mike's. I chose fried porkchop, and it came with cornbread and two sides: mac n cheese and rice&gravy. I think the best thing was the shrimp boil. There was plenty of shrimp (but you have to peel them) and potatoes. I like corn, so I wish they gave more of that too. Instead of fried porkchop, maybe fried chicken would have been better. The ribs were ok. The mac n cheese was actually not bad. Service was good. They gave me utensils and hot sauce packets.

This is the place you go when you want good ole fashioned soul food if you're in Mrtyle Beach. We didn't go in they have a walk up order window. They take your order, you pay and they text you when it's ready. You can eat inside but a small place with a small parking lot. We ordered lil Mike's special 1 meat, 2 sides with corn bread. I had grilled fish with mac and cheese and lima beans and ordered a bag of fried skins about $18. My cousin got fried chicken, pinto beans and cabbage. The food was good but cornbread was a hit or miss. I liked it my cousin didn't. I will be back

My family and I tried Big Mike's while visiting Myrtle Beach this weekend and were sadly disappointed. The customer service was great. However, the appearance online vs. the physical appearance was total opposite. The yams were thick like boulders- giving can dupe. The collard greens were full of stems and were tough. Nobody ever said this but I assumed the okra would have the same batter and flavor as the chicken. Nope! Straight processed and from a bag. My nephews pork chop was so pretty. It was so tough I think one of his brackets shifted... my sister didn't eat the chicken breast it was so bland. All in all, we trashed well over $100.. while I understand everyone's tastebuds are different and sometimes days are off due to staffing. It must not have been our day. The parking lot was full, the inside line was a nice length so the expectation was there but maybe another time. I almost forgot to mention the uncooked peach cobbler!

Chicken, rice, and collard greens.

Busy little gem hidden on side streets of Myrtle Beach. Little restaurant that offers inside seating for 20-30 maybe (I'm guessing) as well as outdoor tables. There is Take out ordering available as well as a take out window. Big Mikes is almost always busy, but the food is just like it says, soul food. We had the meatloaf dinner and a chicken meal. The proteins were cooked perfectly. Tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Most of the sides are really good. However today? The mashed potatoes were a little dried out and tasted like leftovers not full heated. The service is always great and we never leave hungry.

After landing at Myrtle Beach International Airport, my friend and I headed straight to Simply…read moreSouthern Smokehouse for lunch--and it was the perfect way to experience Southern hospitality. If you're looking for authentic Southern comfort food rather than another seafood buffet, Simply Southern Smokehouse is one of Myrtle Beach's best-known local favorites. The restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring a wide variety of home-style classics in a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. One of its most charming traditions is that the staff periodically break into song, creating a warm, welcoming experience that's uniquely Southern. The buffet changes daily, but during our visit it featured an impressive selection including crispy fried chicken, fried pork chops, pulled pork barbecue, smoked chicken legs, collard greens, green beans, cornbread, banana pudding, soft-serve ice cream, and peach cobbler. The fried chicken was outstanding--crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside--and the pulled pork was tender and flavorful. Personally, I tend to prefer barbecue with a deeper, smokier profile, so while I enjoyed the pulled pork, this is better described as a traditional Southern buffet than a destination for smoked barbecue. The homemade desserts, especially the peach cobbler, provided the perfect ending to the meal. The value is exceptional, especially considering the variety and quality of the food. The staff was genuinely friendly, and the singing added a fun, memorable touch that made the restaurant feel more like a community gathering than just another buffet. I also appreciated the thoughtful gesture of complimentary pocket New Testament Bibles available for guests near the entrance. If you're visiting Myrtle Beach and want to experience classic Southern cooking at a reasonable price, Simply Southern Smokehouse is well worth a visit. Come hungry, expect hearty comfort food rather than competition-style barbecue, and you'll likely leave satisfied.

I came across this place and it had two things to make me want to try it - all you can eat, and a low price point including the drink. If the food is going to be bad, at least let me eat as much as I want of the bad food. I walked into a roomy place and was immediately greeted. I was told that they were super packed, but they would get me a seat ASAP. Having so many people waiting in line was a good sign. Having so many ethnicities waiting in line was an even better sign. I looked at who was cooking, and saw a whole bunch of White dudes. Just for the record, being from New Orleans, we have plenty of White people we trust to cook. "Cajun" is a type of cooking for a reason. Having a bunch of White guys cooking, was not the only observation I had about the collective. All those White guys looked like they served time. Once again, being from New Orleans, I do not look down on people that served time. That's many of the residents of New Orleans. Good people that may have got caught up on the wrong side of the law does not make someone ineligible to cook. The time serving looking White guys actually made me excited to taste the food. I've written too much already, so let me wrap this up. There were plenty of sides and proteins that were getting replenished often. I actually tasted spices on the food. The desserts were actually tasty. This place would see me again if I come to Myrtle Beach. Will you be blown away with spices? Not at all. Will you appreciate that they actually used spices? Yes you will. I think you would be happy to try this food.

I'm posting this on every review platform I can because no one should waste their money here. And yes, I feel some type of way saying this about a Black-owned business, but if the business sucks, it sucks--and this place absolutely sucked. Red Flags from the Start * The restaurant isn't even listed with the other shops--just a tiny sign by the elevator. * We arrived at our table and it was dirty. * Our server never introduced herself. * It took 15 minutes to get two waters and one cocktail--even though the restaurant wasn't busy. Drinks Disaster I ordered "The Blacker the Berry" cocktail. I saw photos on Yelp--it's supposed to be dark with a lemon and blackberry. The drink I got was light, no garnish. Another couple came after us and received the correct version immediately. Only after I complained did another server fix it with a lemon--but still the wrong color. Food & Service Failures * It took over 30 minutes just to place our food order because our server disappeared. * Food finally arrived after 20 more minutes--cold, except the shrimp. * Guests who arrived 20-40 minutes after us got their meals before we did. * When asked by the server how everything was I mentioned the above. She asked if I wanted the manager. I said no--I was over it--but she brought him anyway. When he came over, I flatly told him, "No, we're good, thanks." He asked again, and I repeated, "NO, WE ARE GOOD, THANKS." That was the moment that pushed me from frustrated to downright pissed off. Other Problems * Water leaking from the ceiling at the entrance. * Food was bland and ridiculously overpriced. * Automatic 10% gratuity added without our server even mentioning it--I only overheard another table's checkout. * Final bill: $113 for one of the worst meals of my life. The Bottom Line This restaurant completely ruined what was supposed to be a special first-night birthday dinner for my fiancée. I have never left a restaurant so annoyed, upset, and frustrated. Not even on my worst day would I ever return, and I strongly warn others not to waste their time or money here.

Brisk weather with a little drizzle so we didn't want to venture far from the hotel to grab a late lunch. Did a yelp search and up pops Flavor Hills! 200 feet from Hilton Ocean Enclave. Super excited because I've eaten at the one in Durham and it was fabulous. This one has a great location. Spacious. Two separate dining areas plus a heated and covered balcony with seating where you can not only see the ocean but almost taste the salt. Of course it's January so we were cozy inside. Beautiful decor. Full bar inside as well as one outside. Seating for large groups as well as smaller parties. Being the off season we were one of a few tables occupied and service was good. Beautiful artwork on the walls. Gender specified restrooms. Women's restroom had a baby changer and 4 stalls. Very clean. Nice size menu not overwhelming at all. Items were familiar but with unique twists. We were in heaven with the sweet potato cornbread. Appetizer but definitely shareable by 4. If you eat mostly plant based like me not a ton of options but good seafood options for the pescatarians out there. A little disappoint that the bang bang shrimp came with just 4 shrimp for $14. Presentation wonderful though, fresh and delicious. Shrimp and grits delicious. The dessert options are not your typical options. We decided on the peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Phenomenal. I'm not even a vanilla ice cream person and even it was delicious! What I love about Flavor Hills is that you will always find items on their menu that you're not going to get everywhere. As common as peach cobbler is I've never tasted it like this. The brunch menu was served until 3 so unfortunately there were items on the dinner menu we wanted to try but couldn't. Note: 18 percent gratuity added to all checks. It's posted on the door coming in so there's full transparency. Also helpful to know it is on the second level but there is an elevator. Black owned restaurant. Check them out!

We got the fried okra, the mashed potatoes, the mac and cheese, green beans and fries. For the additional side it is $2.99 a person. Honestly, I felt the sides were so tasty & better than some of the meat dishes. The fried pork chop and the chicken and dumplings were not a hit at our table, but we did devour the fried chicken and get an extra order of ribs. We had no idea that this was a bottomless refill, but I don't know how anyone orders more than one extra entree because the portions are huge and quite filling. We were lucky to get a table close to the window so we could have a nice view. All of the workers were courteous & kind. If you are super hungry & have a larger party, you have to come here at least once, while visiting Broadway at the Beach. They also brought out biscuits to our table while waiting for our food, and those are hefty and warm. Hooray for another good Southern eatery during our visit to Myrtle Beach.

When visiting for a family beach trip, we decided to try this beloved seafood buffet. Along the strip in Myrtle Beach, the roads are lined with a plethora of Seafood Buffets ranging from small family owned to large attraction-like restaurants. Without having tried any of the other options, I would say this has to be the best in town. The atmosphere, staff, variety of food offerings, and taste were unmatched. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a unique buffet experience. The exterior of this restaurant is massive and felt like a large Shopping Center with beautiful landscaping, water features, beautiful windows, and colorful siding. Upon arrival, we were asked at the door our party size. They had two entry lines based on table sizes. Since our party was four, we were sent to the shorter line and did not even have to wait to be seated. As we were walked to our table, we passed massive sailing ships complete with rows of hot and cold foods. The ceiling was reminiscent of the ocean skies. The entire restaurant felt like an experience already. I was amazed by the theming, cleanliness, and attention to details. For adults, the buffet is right around $50/person + drinks and tax. The buffet is all-you-can-eat with mutiple serving lines placed around the vast dining hall. As a picky eater, I was honestly a little worried that the offerings would primarily be seafood options; however, I was happily surprised that the buffet line had a LARGE selection ranging from Chicken Tenders and Fries to Pulled Pork and Macaroni and Cheese. I was actually very excited to find so many of my favorite foods and be able to eat just a little of them all! Some other offerings I added to my plate include hush puppies, corn on the cob, fried fish sticks, rolls, and cheddar biscuits all in one trip. My brother is more adventurous in his selection and was able to try different fish and crab legs with multiple trips. They had almost two whole buffet areas filled with seafood dishes that I didn't even visit. His favorite was just the shrimp! They also have a whole dessert room with a wide range of sweet dishes. To be honest, some of the food was mediocre or tasted similar to standard buffet-food-quality. The macaroni was a little bland. The fries were a little soggy. However, the restaurant was so busy that food was being rotated and changed out quickly on the buffet line. Overall, the entire experience was fun and unique. The restaurant was very expensive for a family of four, especially when you're not eating over the top or making multiple trips; however, the nautical theming, food selections, and service set this buffet apart from many others. You'll find something to eat whether you're picky or love the most adventurous of seafood dishes.

This place is maybe cleaner, definitely larger. But the demand for crab legs at this Captain George's, makes the lines long and the wait between refills kind of annoying. It's also colder inside so your crab legs get colder faster when walking back to your seat. Cracking them becomes harder and the shells turn a bit rubbery. Food at both was yummy. You didn't have to write a review to get $10 off for this place, so the price was about dollar and change more than Seafood world. But if you don't end to write a review for seafood world, you'll be paying more there. Overall. It's worth a try but we had a good time at seafood world too. So either or is the option IMO.
