If you are looking for some good fried chicken livers, gizzards, wings, or pork-chops, stop by Maryland Fried Chicken. You will NOT be disappointed. Not only is the food good, it's affordable. Where else, in this day and time, can you get a 3-leg special that comes with two sides and a drink for $7.99? The two ladies working the front of the house have a nice rhythm. They are definitely locals that have taken time to get to know the regulars. Service with a little joke or bit of spiciness is what you will get. There's plenty of room in one section of Maryland Fried Chicken that is available for indoor dining. If you want to enjoy your food while it's piping hot, there's plenty of seating space. However, from what I could see, the majority of people do takeout. On this trip, we ordered the three leg special, and liver dinner, and a single pork chop. Everything was prepared well. The fried okra and the french fries that came along with the specials were also tasty. No complaints here. We will be visiting again before leaving town. We decided to try this place after some good mentions on social media. We had takeout so can't comment on the ambiance. Service was fine, there was a line but it moved quickly. The food was good, but not the best we've had. Fried chicken was a little on the greasy side, Mac and cheese was average. The fried okra and coleslaw were the better sides. Price was reasonable so we'd give it another try. read more

Maryland Fried Chicken is listed as one of the quintessential eateries in Myrtle Beach. If that's any indication, their culinary scene is atrocious. When you walk into this modest little joint, you think you've stumbled onto a hidden gem masquerading as a hole in the wall. It's not. Fried chicken batter should be crispy and crunchy. But I found an adjective that I never thought would describe fried chicken batter, leathery! I would have needed a steak knife to efficiently pierce this chicken batter, similar to the pigskin of a football and way oversalted and uncomfortably greasy. The mac and cheese is straight out of a Kraft mac and cheese box, and the fries certainly came from the frozen section of the local supermarket. This is not the real fried chicken I eat in Alabama and Tennessee, so I cannot recommend this place in good conscience. Note: Always trust Yelp over TripAdvisor and Google reviews, because this site is far more accurate. Case in point, Yelpers appropriately rate Maryland Fried Chicken below four stars while the other sites yield a preposterous 4.5 rating! read more

Judging by how packed it appeared inside, from the outside, I had to check things out for myself. The fried chicken not the fried livers, met my expectations. The chicken was pretty, but lacked seasoning. The rice & gravy was pretty good, but could've used a little something. The fried livers didn't have any seasoning to me. Even after using hot sauce, it didn't change the taste. The customer service was great. The inside only holds about 7/8 tables; mostly only accommodating no more than two. read more

I had the taste for fried chicken and I was not disappointed! Friendly nice service and very quick! The chicken was still hot and fresh when we got to the hotel. Seasoned well and juicy! The sides Mac n cheese and potatoes were good, but they both taste like box food. The corn fritter was delicious! My sides were not as warm as I like but still good. When you see locals waiting lined out the door you know this is a good place. I came in rather apprehensive of a northern fried chicken joint and was absolutely blown away at what these Yankees could provide. When you think of Maryland don't think of blue crab think of fried chicken I guess. Absolutely huge portions to feed my hungry fat a double s. I am super disappointed in the service and food I received. I grew up eating at Maryland Fried Chicken in Conway. I visited the restaurant back in May and was able to do two separate orders at drive thru. On 7:7 I visited the restaurant just be told rudely they can only do one order at the window. After receiving my food the chicken wings were fried so hard it was just unpleasant to eat. The French fries tasted like old oil that needed to be changed. I was so disappointed I threw the food out. But I wanted to make it known that was not a happy experience for me or my family. read more

Wow! Todays special was 3 chicken legs or a pork chop, 2 sides, dinner roll and drink for $6.89!!!! Everything was fresh and delicious. The restaurant seems to have been on this corner in Myrtle Beach for decades. This is my go to place for livers and/or gizzards. They are the best !!!! I'm sure the chicken is great but I have never tried any. The sides are wonderful as is the staff. If you like great liver and gizzards this is the place ! Really good fried chicken. Not too salty or overly battered. Just about perfect. Also had to get the pint of liver and gizzards (I called it lizards in my haste, the counter lady clucked at that one), OMG would have killed for some cold beers at that point. Fries okra cole slaw were also ordered, it was serviceable. But the chicken is where it's at. Never mind the Formica counter top that's been there for decades and the dicey looking local customers. Fu-k the diet and order yourselves some hot crispy fried Chicken in deep oil. You'll thank yourself later after the gluttony and regret! read more

The ladies at the register are so sweet and kind. This is my favorite place to get fried chicken and burgers. Cheaply priced and always fresh. I've been coming here since I was a little kid. My mom has been coming here since before I was born. Must try spot in the heart of myrtle beach. Tip the ladies. They don't have a tip jar but they work really hard and deserve it!!!!! read more

We stopped by because we red these nice reviews! OK, Where to start from. Chicken is fried in OLD frying oil and has rubbery consistency! Besides that it had some strange taste. We ended up ordering somewhere else as these were impossible to eat. Then why I would give them 3* instead of 1? I would give 1* should it be made of plastic... I ordered white meat with Mac and cheese and collard greens, with corn bread, and sweet tea. The food was delicious but don't eat it if you're planning a day of adventure. I finished about half of the food, and took a nap. Made for good leftovers though! read more

If you enjoy bland food you will LOVE IT! The chicken is fried crispy but there is no seasoning on it! Same with the sides, i got green beans (you could tell they were just dumped from a can), potatoes salad (if you love mustard you will love their potato salad because it was filled with mustard) and macaroni and cheese ( i put a ton of salt and pepper to make it be worth eating) so all and all i did not enjoy the food but the service was good! But like i said if you enjoy bland food this is the place to go! They are pretty good at giving you fresh crispy chicken with no flavor... read more

We heard a rumor in Greensboro NC that Maryland fried chicken was the best. We ordered two dinners with fried okra and potato salad. I have to say that I've never had better fried chicken. The okra was just great but I took na star away for the horrid MUSTARD MASHED potato salad. What are you folks thinking? We had a lot left over because as potato salad goes it is simply awful, but when we got home I decided to make some deviled eggs. As an afterthought, having that full container of mustard mashed potatoes in the fridge, I decided to slip that into a few of the egg halves. Everyone raved over them, not knowing they were eating potatoes at all. What a hoot! Anyhow, get the chicken but unless you're having deviled eggs later on, I suggest you leave the potato salad alone. Bonaparte Y'all. read more

If you want a REFILL on the drink you paid for it's extra. If you want WHITE MEAT about $6 more. WAY OVER PRICED FOR WHAT YOU GET! I was so excited to come back here this year and I was so disappointed. Got the 9pc chicken meal and came with 2 sides and rolls. $30. (White meat upcharge). At KFC you can get a huge bucket of bone in chicken (more than 9pc) and a huge bucket of tenders and 2 sides and biscuits for the same price. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Mashed potatoes were POWDERY. Interesting place. It was okay but not off the chain, lip smacking chicken. I have had some good fried chicken so I can say I know what good chicken taste like. The chicken was hot, very hot when served, but did not have a lot of flavor, kind of bland. They cook the food when you order based on the time we waited I'm assuming this. It was a bit of a wait. Now there was a line of folks so maybe I did not order the right dish. I had the 5 wing meal with fries. The price was not bad under $10. Now for eye - candy. Let me say this, it is a fried chicken restaurant. So you can draw your conclusions from that. read more

We stumbled across Maryland Fried Chicken via Yelp and walked to the restaurant (which is located a few blocks from the Sky Wheel). The Maryland Fried Chicken is located predominantly in Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia. We were tickled by the sign that stated there were buffalo chicken, fried chops and gizzards and liver served all day. Maryland Fried Chicken's cute t-Shirt and Logo. I was tempted to buy a souvenir t-shirt. The restaurant is simple with a few chairs and menu board. They have a choice between dark and white meat. The Fried Chicken Box for $11 Fried white chicken breasts at roughly $1.00 each piece. The chicken was tender on the inside and lightly battered. The skin was not ultra crispy, but has nice flavoring. read more

The crab legs were delicious, two clumps with butter and lemons. We also had the shrimp and fries- 8 large shrimp lightly breaded with shoestring fries. Our land lover enjoyed the Reel burger- a juicy combination of chuck and brisket cooked to order. The bun was toasted and held up well to the burger. Overall the experience was very enjoyable. While the food was good. It was the excellent atmosphere and service that took the experience over the top for us.

Fried chicken was awesome, crispy, with an assortment of dark and white meat pieces. We were looking for a knife because of the pork tenderloin and realized you don't need it. It was that tender. You could cut it with a fork and it too was awesome. Everyone raved about all the side items except the mac & cheese it was a bit on the bland side so it was not our favorite. There was no need for a refill of any of the food. The first round was very ample sized and everyone left very satisfied. And if I have a bit of feedback, our waiter was not attentive unlike the waitress serving the tables in our same area. He was didn't bother to come back and see if we needed a refill on any of the drinks or the food. The only disappointing thing was they no longer offer you a small sample size dessert to finish up your meal. It's been a while since I've dined here so I'm not sure how long that change has been in place. However, we understand the food industry continues to be impacted by the current economy. (Listed in pictures along with a menu). Overall the service was amazing! Our waitress was great checking on us often, refilling drinks etc. The food was alright! We were a little disappointed in the Country fried steak (seemed a bit tough), Mac and Cheese and Meatloaf (both seemed to be sitting for a while before we were served). I do want to return to this restaurant and be seated and properly served. Not in any way reflecting on the bar staff they went out of the way to make sure we were satisfied and well taken care of. I want to return because they had great appetizers and you just know the entrees will be very special
