1/2 rack of ribs, seasoned fries, Mac and cheese, and rolls
    Bradley J.

Big Hoffa's was a great meal and I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. I ordered the half rack of ribs with seasoned fries, mac and cheese, and rolls. There was a lot of food for the price, and the ribs had plenty of meat on them. The fries were solid, and while the mac and cheese wasn't my favorite and reminded me a bit of cafeteria mac and cheese, I still left full and had leftovers to take home. The food was ready surprisingly fast, probably within 7 to 10 minutes. The staff was friendly throughout the visit and did a great job checking in on us, clearing trays, and making sure everything was going well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As for the atmosphere, I can appreciate the theme they were going for, even if it's not quite my style. The dining room is pretty dark, and the dark murals make it feel even darker.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That said, the food and service easily made up for it. Overall, it was a really good experience and a place I'd happily visit again.

My husband and I have repeatedly been told how good the food is at Big Hoffas, so it's been on our list to visit for a loooong time. That is why it pains me to be giving this 3-star review. It's not that anything was bad, but after all the hype, we just weren't impressed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Let me start off by saying that the space is very cool. I loved the dark, swamp-themed mural painted on the wall, the banging playlist and the inclusion of a bar in the back as well as the ice cream counter[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The staff were jovial, accommodating and extremely pleasant to interact with. My husband and I both ordered 1/2 slab rib combos. My 1/2 was much larger/meatier than his, so we swapped. The combo comes with two sides. We both ordered the baked beans, he had the coleslaw, and I had the macaroni and cheese. Categorically, everything was ok...good even, but not great or amazing, which were the words that we'd heard from others. Perhaps we didn't order the right items. The ribs were beautiful with the perfect smoke ring. They were seasoned well, but they were not as tender as I would've liked. I like my ribs to be fall-off-the-bone tender, but I know that isn't necessarily the industry standard. The sauce options were mild and hot, but I could barely distinguish the difference between the two. Hot is not spicy. The macaroni and cheese could've used some salt and pepper, but the baked beans were spot-on. The beans were on the sweet side, which is just how I like them. The platter is also served with soft, buttery, rolls with garlic.

Big Hoffa's was A-OK in my book! Came to Indy for a bball tournament and had some time to kill in between games to grab some lunch. Hubby and I ordered a meal for two and it came with your choice of 2 meats plus ribs, and 2 sides along with bread rolls, and pickled veggies. We decided on the pulled chicken, brisket, ribs, with sides of Mac n cheese and bbq beans. Everything was delicious and very filling. Kinda sad that I didn't get to order dessert as we decided too late and didn't want to get back in line. Restaurant is set up where you're in line to place your order and pick up your order at the other counter. Line can get a little long but it goes by pretty fast. You then seat yourself and all the condiments, sauce, and drinks are all at different stations for self serve. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are plenty of seats inside and even a bar inside the restaurant. Very casual and kid friendly atmosphere[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].

Such good BBQ. Being from San Diego, I always like to try local favorites and Big Hoffa's did not disappoint. Service was outstanding, every person I encountered was very nice and helpful!! Great place for families or groups of people!! Tried the Brisket Sandwich and some ribs a friend gave me. Whatever they used to create that crust on the ribs was perfect!! Not too sweet, not too overbearing, just money!!! Finished it off with Peach Cobbler which you can pick up after you eat, I thought that was pretty cool (you order everything at once). Will be back next year when we're in town!!

This is the first real barbecue place I've tried in the area and it's delicious. They have their own unique twists on many things and it's all really good! The brisket sandwich and rack of ribs were juicy and tender. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All the staff is super friendly and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall its just really what you want from a barbecue joint. We didn't get to try the ice cream but all of the flavors look fantastic as well.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Big Hoffa's is such a vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's always busy, has great food, and fun atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The speak easy is a nice touch to a classic staple of Westfield.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This smokehouse BBQ spot is absolutely worth the hype and an easy add to the regular rotation. Got here right when they opened and there was already a big line out the door, which is always a good sign for a BBQ place. Even though it was busy, the line moved at a reasonable pace and the food made the wait more than worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere had that casual, bustling smokehouse feel that works well for both adults and families.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food itself was the standout. The meat was incredibly tender and cooked perfectly -- juicy, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you go out for BBQ. The fries were very crispy and well done, not soggy or limp, and the mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and super satisfying as a side. Everything on the plate felt fresh and hot, not like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. It was also a big win for our family. Our toddler loved it so much she ate her entire kids' meal, which almost never happens, so that really says a lot about how good the food was. The portions were generous without being overwhelming, and it felt like an easy, low-stress place to bring a little one. Between the great BBQ, solid sides, and how well it worked for our toddler, this is definitely a spot we'll be coming back to again.

Came in on a Saturday night and OMG it was great!!! Pros - Quick service - Amazing quality. Meat was spectacular!! - Sassafrass tea was delicious! - Homemade pickles were great - Pricing not bad ($45 for two plates and an extra side of pickles) Cons - I can't eat it daily!

This food is amazing! We just moved to Westfield and knew we wanted to try this place. We did order a delivery and were initially brought the incorrect food, but they quickly resolved the issue and delivered the correct order immediately. We can't wait to visit the actual restaurant someday soon. Highly recommend!

We stepped into the lounge area of Big Hoffa's (+21). It was a blast! The bartender was so great to talk to and she gave us a lot of info about the food and theme/history of the restaurant. I highly recommend the wings and the brisket. 10/10 food. Honestly everything was amazing. Not a bad thing on the menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Definitely check this lounge out![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We have drove by this place so many times and finally decided to stop in. The parking lot was jam packed so we thought that's a good sign. We walked in and didn't see the door inside the vestibule that said "enter" and went in the exit. We got ourselves righted and got in line. We wanted to keep it simple so we ordered the half rack of ribs and the brisket sandwich. The ribs fell off the bone and the brisket was delicious. My personal preference would be a little less barbecue sauce on the sandwich - that will be a request next time. Tried the peach cobbler for dessert which was very good but I was so full from dinner I couldn't eat much. Overall a fun, casual place to get pretty good barbecue.

We tried out the tavern and were amazed!! It's full service, so you can order food. The atmosphere was sooo cool, the bar was huge and filled with bourbons. The menu is extensive. I loooved their martinis, specifically the chocolate one!

I almost skipped it, and I'm so glad I didn't. It was incredible. The BBQ sauce deserves a shoutout too. My only hope is that they get some more sides in the future like fries & Mac n cheese. But meat is the real MVP. One piece of advice: get there early. They just opened their new restaurant and are still figuring out how much food to prepare each day, and they were completely sold out before 2 p.m. That's a good problem to have! Show up hungry because you'll want to try everything. Be patient as they are figuring this out and have huge crowds. We waited in line for about 40 minutes and it was well worth it. On top of all that, the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the BBQ. Ben is a blast to talk to, and his staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming. You can tell they care about both the food and the people walking through the door. I'll definitely be back. Best BBQ I've had in Indiana.

The menu is a mix of bbq, soul and Southern style cooking. Cornbread, green beans, peach cobbler, etc., included. I had the bbq loaded baked potato with bbq beef brisket. The brisket is amazingly tender and moist. The potato was smothered in cheese, onions, jalapeños and bacon. Yum. The bbq sauces are very tasty. I had the tangy sauce which had a kick to it. My husband had the pork tenderloin sandwich. The pork was hand prepped and breaded and very good. The Sidewinder fries are the BEST in Indy area - hands down and the portion is generous. Everyone was stealing his fries. My granddaughter had the Kid's pork bbq slider with Mac and cheese. She also devoured a corn muffin. She loved her meal. Others had the Pork Bbq sandwich combo with backed beans. The beans are freshly prepared and crave worthy. Pork sandwiches had a generous amount of moist pulled pork. We ordered at the counter and food is prepared fresh so there's a bit of a wait during dinner hour. About half people get their food to go. Prices are reasonable - especially desserts. The dining area is small - maybe five tables. Seating is tight. The patio area outside is nice if the Indiana weather cooperates. I love this place.

However, in planning the meal it had inadvertently been overlooked that Pizzology didn't open until 4pm. So, making a quick change of plans meant that we stopped in at Rackz almost directly in front of the Pizzology building. In case it's not obvious, this is a BBQ joint. There's accessible parking, an appropriate curb-cut, and the entryway is a pretty easy to maneuver one-sided glass door that is level to the ground. I found the interior to be a pretty good layout. There's also outside dining that's available when the weather is appropriate. The menu is consistent with most BBQ joints. Rackz offers both dinners (two sides and drink plus meat) or sandwich combos (only one side). The price range is generally in the $10-20 range, though they also offer some family-style options that go higher. So, we're talking BBQ, pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, ribs, and there's even a breaded tenderloin sandwich. They also have a "veggie BBQ dinner." Don't ask me, but it's on the menu. Sides are creative ranging from sidewinder fries to potato salad, mac n' cheese, baked beans, glazed carrots (which I got the chance to try from a fellow diner - I really did like these), and a few other items. I was honestly very impressed with the menu. They also have kids meals and a couple of different Wick's Pies (the classic sugar cream and pecan). I opted for pulled chicken sandwich with sidewinder fries. As we know, I always get iced tea. I really wanted to go for the breaded tenderloin, but I had a full afternoon and that's a splurge for me. However, I was super happy with this meal and would easily order it again. Employees are friendly. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. Rackz also offers catering and they do have a rewards program. While this is a bit out of my way, I'd easily return when in the area.

Being fairly new to the Fishers area, I did a quick review scroll (as a yelper does lol) and went in with high hopes... and let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint! First off, the menu? Solid. So many options it almost stressed me out, in the best way! I finally landed on the Aloha Special Plate with Hawaiian BBQ Chicken + Chicken Katsu, upgraded my rice to fried rice, and it also came with the mac salad and veggies. Now when I opened that container... BABY. The portions?! Generous is an understatement. They did not come to play! The BBQ chicken was sweet, savory, and full of flavor. The chicken katsu? Crispy, golden perfection. Like... exactly what you want it to be. The macaroni salad was also hitting... creamy, flavorful, no complaints there. Only thing that fell a little flat for me was the rice, it just needed a bit more flavor. But honestly, everything else made up for it. It was late, I was home for the night, and I told him I would try to return within the next day or two. When I returned, the owner was not there. I was informed that I would only receive one-third of my money back. Since I had eaten only the rice and vegetables, I requested a 50% refund. Those items were listed on the menu at approximately $7, while my total bill was $18.52. Given that I had been asked to make a second trip back to the restaurant, my request seemed more than reasonable. The meats were still in the container... even the parts I attempted to chew but had to spit out. (Gross, I know!) The manager stated that he would need to call the owner for approval. After speaking with him, the owner instructed the manager to refund the full amount of my meal. The manager then pulled out the cash but proceeded to take several phone orders and serve another customer who was waiting for food--all while I stood there waiting for him to hand me my refund. He kept saying, "One moment." After patiently waiting, I finally asked, "Is there a problem?" He replied that there wasn't, but then began typing another message into his translator app. At that point, he informed me that while he would refund my money, I was no longer welcome to eat at the restaurant. I was absolutely appalled, but simply responded, "Okay." I have no interest in supporting a business that neither values its customers nor stands behind the quality of its product. Fortunately, there are plenty of other places to eat. He then added that because no one else had complained about the meat being tough, he did not believe that it was. I accepted my refund... all $18.52 of it... and left. I will never return, and based on this experience, I would encourage others to think carefully before patronizing this business.

Before I describe the food, I have to write about the way they deliver the food. I saw one of the staff bring out this boat of food wrapped in white paper to a table near us and thought that was an order of a specific type that warranted such a delivery. When I asked our waitress about it she smiled and said that was how she was going to bring out our food. It's a little thing but we thought it was unique and just added to the feel of the place. A few minutes later we received our food in a white paper boat and it was awesome. The breadsticks were good; the nacho cheese wasn't the best. The coleslaw was a hit with my wife and son. The Cuban sandwich was really good. The chicken wings were outstanding! The wings are smoked and meaty...and the blue cheese dressing that came with it was delicious. The waitress told us that they make the blue cheese in house and I believe her. The fries were tasty- our waitress was right in saying that a small order would feed a family. My sandwich was heaping with moist, brisket on a fresh soft roll. Their bbq sauce is fabulous - sweet with a tinge of heat and lots of spices. The tots were crispy. The owners are friendly. We chatted about local sports for a bit. Their hours vary. They close early if they sell out of bbq, which happens frequently. But you can special order for pick up. The shop is located in an old house with two steps at the entrance. I didn't see wheel chair accessibility. The parking is tight, but there are additional spots in back.

The owner confirmed if I wanted sliced or pulled,,, then fatty or lean. Sliced is most difficult to get right IMHO. I was pleased with each bite. Side of potato salad was spot on. This used to be eastern deli with BBQ. The deli is gone and owners are slowly updating house it appears. Priority is the meat. It's clean now... I found it humble yet clean.

Super friendly staff. We chatted with the hostess for a bit about the other Family of Grindstone restaurants. We started with the short rib poutine. We had it last year and frequently joke we need more than 1. The meat is so tender and there is a good amount of it on the dish. The app has plenty to share for the three of us adults. I also love the added touch of the scallions. For our meals, I had the Jambalaya pasta which was a large serving with plenty of meat, my husband had the tenderloin sandwich (which was massive and the best he said he has ever had on all of his trips to Indy) and our friend had the piggy melt grilled cheese (Mac and cheese and pulled pork!) That sandwich had incredible flavor and I said I'm getting that next time. We ended the meal with bread pudding bites as the photos on here looked delicious and the waitress recommended them. They certainly did not disappoint. The restaurant has a bit of a nicer vibe and there are certainly some people that were there dressed better than us, but it is not a stuffy atmosphere. Delicious food for very reasonable prices. Good beer selection as well.

It's 3 stars because the salmon was undercooked and somehow looked like chicken on top and pink in the middle. I had to send it back. We requested the sweet potato fries be well done and they were not. The manager was great and very accommodating as was our server. I just want to be able to enjoy the food. The strawberries in the salad didn't seem fresh. They were mushy and I didn't want to eat them. If I go back it will probably be for drinks and maybe appetizers only. The zucchini bread that comes with the salad was really good.

Half of the appetizers were known to me and were wonderful, while the other half was a food adventure. I ordered the spicy chicken sauté and my wife got the mild version of the same. You get a good size portion and it was absolutely amazing and very tasty. You have the option of having the restaurant chef cooking your meal, or you can have them bring the ingredients to you and you can cook it yourself on the in-table cook top. The service was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is new and the dining area was very clean. Parking in front is very small and challenging. I recommend you park in the rear of the restaurant. This restaurant was a great experience and I know we will come back again.
