A couple of friends hyped this place up as the best barbecue in Indy--and they weren't wrong. We arrived around 6 PM on a Saturday and, despite the line stretching to the back of the restaurant, we stuck it out and left with carryout about an hour and a half later. The menu had a wide variety of options to satisfy any craving. We went with the pulled porker nachos and a 1/4 sheet pan--supposedly for 1-2 people--which came loaded with three meats, two sides, pickles, slaw, and toast. It was an absolutely massive amount of food. The pulled pork was hands down the best I've ever had. We sampled what the cashier called their "big three": pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. Each one had its own unique, melt-in-your-mouth flavor. We also appreciated that the nachos came deconstructed, making them perfect for assembling fresh at home. Everything was incredibly tasty, and the leftovers were just as good the next day. If you're anywhere near the area, this spot is a must-try.

Kelly was so helpful explaining how everything worked and offering recommendations. Everything was good, but the OMG items for us were ribs, pulled pork, wings and that banana bread pudding. All of the sides and extras were items we would all eat again. The Korean pork tacos have a kick, so be prepared. My husband and son loved the amount of heat, though. The Sweet Hog sauce is fantastic and they do a great job with to-go packages and sauces for leftovers. We will be back!
We just love this place! Placed a carryout order today and everything was perfect. I wish I had her name, but the gal that took my order was fabulous. She was patient while I called home to confirm a side choice, and even noticed I was not able to carry the food out on my own, and offered to carry it to my car in the snow and muck. As usual, the food was on fire. This place does not disappoint. The sauces are spectacular, and their side choices are amazing. Tonight I even ordered their specials of chili with brisket and charro beans with beef short ribs to have tomorrow. They sucked me right in with that written on the sign! The hush puppies...OMG. Get these and dip them in spicy bbq sauce. You're welcome!
I've heard so many amazing and rave reviews of this place. It had been on our radar for a while. We went on a Saturday night at 8pm. They were pretty busy. Staff at the counter tell us it's a 40 minute wait, they're out of ribs, baked beans and their soda machine is broken. We should have left and came back a different night. But like I said, I had been wanting to try this place for a while! The brisket was dry and I was hugely disappointed by this. The pulled pork was good. Beer cheese was fantastic. The sides were fine. Nothing really wowed me. I just thought everything was middle of the road. Atmosphere was good. Lighting was good as well. They have ample seating.
Stoped by on Sunday and the place was empty. I studied the menu for a while and decided to go for the brisket sandwich. Then I saw the special with a corn chowder and brisket sandwich. It came out super fast and was hot and fresh. Texas toast on the sandwich was hot and crispy. Really surprising how a place in McCordsville can make barbecue this good. The corn chowder was fresh, hot, and delicious. Lots of flavor. Several styles of sauce to choose from- guaranteed you will like one or more! I will definitely be back.
Love Trax' brisket & ribs!! Made perfect every time & a great assortment of sauces to go along with them (if that's your thing)! My wife got the Pulled Pork Nachos and loved those also! Their sides are good & give that home cooked feeling, but like most places some days are better than others. But don't let that stop you from their Mac n cheese which hasn't missed yet! However, I personally am not a fan of their baked beans only because I prefer them sweeter and thicker. Service can take a little long sometimes but that's because it can get REALLY busy, especially on weekends! So if you go, plan to hangout for a bit. Also, if it's hot out plan to sweat as it can get hot inside sometimes, and especially if eating at the tables outside! DEFINITELY get their Bread Pudding (which feeds more like a cake to me) because it's delicious & has seasonal flavors... as well as their chocolate brownie! Both come with ice cream

I hate writing this because about a year ago Trax BBQ had some of the best brisket around. Back then the brisket was moist, flavorful, and you could actually request fatty or lean cuts. The fatty brisket especially was incredible. Tender, juicy, packed with flavor, and honestly didn't even need sauce. This recent visit felt like a completely different restaurant. Apparently you can't request fatty or lean anymore, and the brisket I received was so dry it literally crumbled apart like beef sawdust. There was basically zero fat left on it, which also meant very little flavor. For the first time ever, the sauce wasn't optional... it was rescue equipment. The ribs were okay, but even they weren't what they used to be. They used to have that perfect fall-off-the-bone texture, and now they were just kind of there. Not terrible, just disappointing compared to how good this place once was. I'm not trying to trash Trax because I know how great they can be. That's actually what makes this frustrating. It feels like the brisket went from "Texas smokehouse masterpiece" to "beef jerky with a college degree." read more

Had another great visit! Especially since on Wednesdays kids eat free with purchase of an adult entree. We love the Mac and cheese so much and the smokehouse meat selection is amazing! We'll definitely be making Wednesday stops routine! I also love that they change their bread pudding flavors monthly! Always something new to try! I've also seen their $10 lunch specials that I'm planing to check out soon. read more
Recently, it was a beautiful day for a picnic, but I wasn't in the mood for sub sandwiches or normal picnic fare. What's a simple and easy option that can also feed your entire family? BBQ, brother! No matter the question, BBQ is usually the answer! Trax BBQ for the win! A quick phone call and my order was placed. You can order individual plates, but with BBQ, I always love ordering a pound or two of pulled pork or brisket. Trax has some great family options on the menu, all ready to easily order. It makes family time a snap! My kids were so excited we were going to eat barbecue in the park! Our family order was packaged well, complete with plates and plastic ware, pulled pork, sides, buns, and all the sauces. (Call me crazy, but I'll pick pulled pork over brisket any day. I love brisket. Don't get it twisted. But you can't go wrong with smoked or slow roasted pork!) Heads up: the Family Meal is listed under the Combos section at the bottom. So, scroll last the larger tray options and you'll find it listed. Speaking of sauces, Trax bottles their own sauce. So, if you enjoy the flavor or heat level, you can grab a bottle to stash at home. They have several options for sauces from sweet to spicy and even a Carolina yellow in both sweet and medium. My only drawback was that a few of the sides had a distinct flavor. It wasn't bad, and you may love it, so try it once. But we didn't really care for the slaw and beans. The BBQ and sauces were great, and Trax helped to provide a wonderful little picnic in the park! read more

Stoped by on Sunday and the place was empty. I studied the menu for a while and decided to go for the brisket sandwich. Then I saw the special with a corn chowder and brisket sandwich. A++ bbq outside of Indy! Brisket and ribs are top notch. The nachos are top 3 in the surrounding areas in my opinion! Just the perfect amount of toppings. Don't skip the bread budding of the month either! Yum. Parking is either infront or across the road and you can seat inside or outside on the picnic tables. read more

This place was amazing. I dig the ambiance, it's like a true bbq joint. Not fancy, but it has everything you need. We hadn't been there before and the staff were so helpful in guiding us through the order process. The menu is on the wall or you can grab a paper menu, you order at the counter, and find your seat. You get a lil buzzed to ring ya when it's time for chow. Drinks and about a half dozen incredible sauces are self serve. The portions are generous. I want a generous portion! Thank you. Some bbq places serve you a pick two combo and it doesn't even total one generous helping. Tasty side dishes abound and they, too, are plentiful. I wasn't a big fan of the potato salad. Man, do I love a good homemade potato salad. This was dill forward with a lot of onion. I was okay with all that, but it finished really bitter. Like your mom. Baked beans were sooo good. Unique in taste and I couldn't place it. Super good. Cheesy potatoes were a win. Hushpuppies have a hint of jalapeño and that's fun. I hope to go back soon!! read more

We went here and were very satisfied! The food was amazing! We shared a 1/2 plate which was so much food! My only complaint was the temperature inside the building was on the hot side. A few fans would help with that. I cannot wait to eat the leftovers. The bbq sauce variety is amazing and there is a flavor for every one. read more
This food is amazing. Top shelf BBQ. You can feel the love that goes into these tasty morsels of protein and delicious sides. All was great, fair prices and good portion sizes. Really enjoyed the Wings, Ribs & Brisket. Fantastic pickles. They have a wide variety of sauces from sweet and sassy to Hot, Hot, Hot. Rustic industrial dinning hall. Kid friendly. You know this place is legit if Katrina Eats Kilos and Randy Santana have been here and crushed their challenge. Nice to see their pictures on the wall champions. I really wanted to like this place but it was just pretty plain. Not bad just not great. We chose the 4 Horseman because it had pulled pork, brisket, mac n cheese and coleslaw all on a sandwich so we could try a little of everything. For our side we chose the beans. I hate to say it but the coleslaw and mac n cheese were the best part. I am a true lover of baked beans, but not these. They have several sauces. I tried 4 and couldn't find one that I really liked. The place is large, simple and family friendly. The staff was suoer friendly. My husband did emjoy his Australian beerThere is pretty limited parking. read more

Came into trax on 5/17 made a preorder for 5pm we took our tray home and were very disappointed in what we were severed me and my wife had ordered this tray numerous times in the past and it standard comes with 3-4 pieces of brisket depending on how it is sliced we had also ordered an extra 1/4lb of brisket on top of what normally comes in the tray we opened the tray and there was only 1 single piece of brisket in the tray to say my daughters and wife were disappointed would be and understatement I pack the tray back up and took it back there was no urgency to make anything right I then asked for just a refund I was told that they couldn't process a refund right now and to call back on Wednesday 5/20 and that if they could process it then it would take an additional 5-10 business for me to receive my refund I have now walked out with no food and no refund it truly feels like a slap in the face read more

I was sold the second I found out that you can choose your brisket as lean, fatty or mixed. I prefer the lean variety, but that is often hard to find. So I was quite excited. And rightfully so, because it was absolutely to die for. You also get to choose between 6 different BBQ sauces, and there are also hot sauces available. I opted for the potato salad for one of my sides and it was delightful. For my second side I opted for the side of the month, which was a Tomato cucumber salad. It sounded good, but wasn't compared to the rest of my food. I'm kind of glad I don't live closer or I would be in here all the time. I really do want to check out some of the other meats here. I have to say, come early, especially if you want some of that glorious brisket, because once they are out, they are out. Only a limited amount of meats each day. And grab the first parking lot you see, or you will be circle-ing for a bit. read more

Great BBQ joint! Don't hesitate at all to try it. Unlike a few other scratch kitchens locally, they were well prepared for food allergy information needs (in our case soy). Much to our surprise, most of the sides were safe for our party (which is not common, unfortunately). Everything we had was phenomenal, but special shout out on the ribs, which I preferred without sauce. Speaking of sauces, be sure to check them all out (table faves were the red hog and Carolina). read more
This place opens at noon and there was already a line inside at 11:40. While waiting in that line all I could think is wow, this must be some good food. The restaurant has a decent amount of parking available out front, but it goes quickly. It is right off of the train tracks and is co-located with Scarlet Lane Brewing Company in the back. There is a large dining area with tables and booths. You will find a self serve drink station and barbecue sauce station here. It was very clean, but i was there when they opened. They also have a small patio area out front with some picnic tables. You will see the joint's huge smoker out front, opposite the patio. They restaurant has monthly specials of a food item, which this month was the Blackened FU Burger, and a monthly side, which was collards greens dueing my visit. They have your regular barbecue favorites that include ribs, chicken wings, pulled pork, brisket, sausage and pulled chicken. Additionally, the have some signature sandwiches and serve meat by the pound. For those adventurous people, this is home to the Half Sheet Challenge, where you have to eat a sheet platter which consists of 4 meats, 3 sides, some slaw, a pickle, and Texas toast. If you do not succeeded, you will still make their Wall of Shame and have to pay $60 for the meal. The woman working the register was very friendly and helpful, the rest of the staff just did their job. They were not rude and not friendly or engaging either. I ordered the Trax PBLT with a side of baked beans. It took about 8 minutes for me to get my food. It was fresh, hot, delicious, and packed with meat. I topped it with some Jamaican jerk sauce and mmmmmmm. I wanted some ribs, but they were not ready, which broke my heart. I was told that they were still on the smoker and they did not have an ETA for when they would be ready. Note to self, come later in the day if you want some ribs. Anyway, this restaurant has some delicious food. I had a tough time deciding and limiting myself to just one meal (I was helped out by them not having ribs ready while I was there). A friend told me about Trax BBQ in McCordsville. It's not far from Tim's Bakery if you know where that is. This place is so good!! Excellent BBQ!! You can do dine in or carry out. You can tell it's good when you see lots of cars coming and going and you can't see it from the street. It sits back just a little from the road. If locals go there and know about it it's probably good. It is! The chief is a REV Indy chef that will be at the IMS in May for REV. I can see why. The food looked so good that everyone had. Ribs, brisket, sausage, pulled chicken and pulled pork are the meats they have. They had a shrimp po boy as a special this month also. For sides they had hush puppies, a sweet corn succotash for the special this month, mac and cheese, and other delicious sides. I ordered the green beans and the cheesy potatoes. I wish I had the recipe for the cheesy potatoes those were delicious!! The broccoli salad sounded good along with the hush puppies. I saw a lot of people eating the baked beans they had and will have to try those. The pulled chicken and pulled pork were smoked and had a great flavor to them. They weren't dry at all. You didn't even need sauce they were seasoned that well!!! I chose the Carolina vinegar and the mustard sauce. Loved them both! They even have a Jamaican jerk sauce. I will say the Texas toast they make is some of the best I've ever had. The seasonings they used made it perfect!!! The staff were all so friendly and nice and the girl at the register was very friendly and happy even though she had a line. She kept it moving and it was just a nice place to eat!
