A friend and I were looking for bbq in the area we just happened to be in - we stumbled on this spot and when we saw they also had Turkey options, we were very excited! It wasn't busy but it wasn't slow, I ordered the Turkey tips with a side of baked beans and potato salad. She ordered the Turkey ribs with the greens and baked beans. I should have had the Turkey ribs instead - didn't care for the tips. The potato salad and baked beans were great! I also ordered the peach cobbler and that alone will have me back!

I ended up here because my first place ran out of meat.... The staff here are awesome. You place your order and then go sit in your car and wait form them to contact you. I ordered rib tips with sauce on the side. Sometimes sauce hides the imperfections of either not being smoked or seasoned well. Not the case here: the ribs were tender, smoky and seasoned well. There was enough in one order to feed two people. Will definitely be coming back.

This place is 5 minutes form our house and we didn't know it was there, Man are we sorry we missed all the deliciousness! We got half chicken, small rib tips and two pulled pork sandwiches (one was a meal) sides of fries, Mac n cheese and baked beans. We have leftovers for tomorrow. Everything was delicious!! Generous portions. Tried all 3 bbq sauces. All good. Hours are short in Sunday so get there early. Good as mask requirements and keeping people socially distance in such a small space.

I had a BBQ craving and Yelp helped me find my way to Garrett's, which is easy to forget about since its tucked in a small strip mall. I hadn't had ribs in a while and decided to order a rack, some pulled brisket and two large sides; mac & cheese and greens. I was told that the ribs wouldn't be ready for another half hour, so I ordered a side of Fried Green Tomatoes and told them I didn't mind the wait. The cashier was pleasant and asked if I had a frequent shoppers card. She explained the program and punched my receipt to bring back on my next visit. I sat patiently and several people came in after me for take out orders. Before long, my tomato order was up and piping hot. They were breaded in a crunchy cornmeal seasoning and tangy to the taste. I'm glad I ordered them, as I'd skipped lunch and needed something to tide me over. You get a whole tomato, which is about 7 slices. Not bad at all for $3.95! The dining room was empty, but had plenty of room for guests, including groups, to gather. The counter was full of tempting dessert options to satisfy your sweet tooth. I enjoyed sitting and had more order in hand in no time. It came with my choice of bread, so I tried the cornbread, which was really good and complemented the meal. The greens were seasoned nicely and the ribs were meaty and flavorful. The mac and cheese wasn't as creamy as I like, but in my mind, its akin to pizza, difficult to dislike. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my experience and had more than enough food for the hree of us at home, with seconds. Next time I'll treat myself to a dessert!

I have been trying to visit a lot of restaurants that I have not been to before. Garrett's Smokehouse is one of those places that I have seen in my trips around the 56th & Fall Creek area. I remember when this restaurant was 56th Street Fish Market (now Caplingers) many years ago as that was my go to place for fresh seafood. I decided today was a good day to try Garrett's because they has a special for St. Patty's day. I love corned beef and only get it smoked from one other place in Indy on the west side. I love going to small family owned restaurants for meals because usually you will always get just plain good food. Might not be award when in presentation like on TV but the taste is reminiscent of a good home cooked meal. Garrett's hit that for me. The corned beef was tender and not greasy as some corned beef can be. Cabbage and red skinned potatoes made the perfect side dishes seasoned well. Employees were super friendly and I am going to return for the beef ribs.

I was in the mood for bbq, typed "places near me," and, viola! Never knew it was here, right off 56th and N. Emerson in a little strip mall near Derring cleaners and Noah's animal hospital. Open on Sunday, which made me happy. No drills place. Friendly service. Got a lb of pulled pork ($12) and a large mac and cheese and cole slaw to go ($7 ea, nicely sized). So #yum! #NewToMePlace #ReviewsByRL

Proof of purchase, I didn't take a picture of the food before trash

Ordered Turkey Ribs, received what looks like breasts chopper in cubes. They do not taste grilled, I can bake bbq at home. There's a weird taste to the sweet potatoe fries & greens. Very odd after taste. The sauce did not help my cubed Turkey, I selected mild sauce & it was equally meh. I ordered online & the pickup time was accurate. The person who rang me up was nice and gave a frequent customer card. It was just disgusting Photo for proof of purchase, I was hungry I didn't take photos of the food. I got so upset I threw it away

Punch card. Buy 5 dinners, get 6th free

We try to support local when possible. I've driven by here many times. Unfortunately the food was super disappointing and expensive for the quality. Shredded brisket was super dry. Not sure why it has to be offered only shredded instead of offering slices. Smoked wings were over smoked to the point of barely being able to eat (yes, I love smoked wings from other places) BBQ sauce was pitched and just used our own. Sides are super expensive for the sizes of what you get. Mac and cheese was dried up and oddly seasoned. Green beans were pure mush and too salty to eat. Greens were under cooked and nasty. One bite of them and that was it. Threw all of the sides away. We LOVE a great BBQ joint, but this isn't it. Won't ever be going back.

I've been looking for good bbq the past few months and I think I've finally found the place! Tried Garrett's for the first time this evening and WOW! They are currently doing take out only but man did it not disappoint! We got their sandwich dinner which comes with two sides. We got the small portion and we were stuffed after! The sandwiches were full of meat and were so filling.

That is why it pains me to be giving this 3-star review. It's not that anything was bad, but after all the hype, we just weren't impressed. Let me start off by saying that the space is very cool. I loved the dark, swamp-themed mural painted on the wall, the banging playlist and the inclusion of a bar in the back as well as the ice cream counter. The staff were jovial, accommodating and extremely pleasant to interact with. My husband and I both ordered 1/2 slab rib combos. My 1/2 was much larger/meatier than his, so we swapped. The combo comes with two sides. We both ordered the baked beans, he had the coleslaw, and I had the macaroni and cheese. Categorically, everything was ok...good even, but not great or amazing, which were the words that we'd heard from others. Perhaps we didn't order the right items. The ribs were beautiful with the perfect smoke ring. They were seasoned well, but they were not as tender as I would've liked. I like my ribs to be fall-off-the-bone tender, but I know that isn't necessarily the industry standard. The sauce options were mild and hot, but I could barely distinguish the difference between the two. Hot is not spicy. The macaroni and cheese could've used some salt and pepper, but the baked beans were spot-on. The beans were on the sweet side, which is just how I like them. The platter is also served with soft, buttery, rolls with garlic.

It is a bit hard to determine where to order given the large space once you walk in, but they have a counter with a chalkboard menu to the left along the wall. They have a TON of choices and a lot of great sounding sides. The best deals are either platters or meals, as they come with sides and drinks. But they also offer specials during the week which makes things interesting. We got fried chicken breast (as out of all other chicken options almost) with a side of coleslaw. Tasty but a bit dry on the chicken. They do have at least 6 sauces to use (self serve) so that helped but I'd probably try another option next time. I'm more of a heavily seasoned preference if going to go for chicken, so found it also a bit bland. But well cooked and fresh! The sides of several others were great with a lot of variety so you can mix and match. Everyone ate the majority of their meals, so I think it went over well as a new option. The portions are large for the price so you won't go away hungry for sure! It is worth checking out and I appreciate their commitment to Barbeque.

There were a few designs to choose from: a lobster, an oyster, and a fish, from what I can recall. She also introduced me to our gracious host for the evening, Nolan, who was running the show. Nolan is a big ball of energy and a joy to be around. He set the vibes to light, fun and whimsical and I really appreciated that. Everyone moved around the room freely, visiting all of the tasting stations that were set up with whimsical, hand-drawn decorations on the paper tablecloths (much like that seen on the Pinterest commercial). There were 6 different ones, all with multiple options at each station. I tried sardines, razor clams, pickled ramps, an entire array of Fishwife tinned items, mustards, seafood dip that is made in-house, oysters, the list goes on. They also introduced me to an Indiana-based soda company call Bollygood, with Indian-inspired flavors. I love, love, love the Lime Basil Cumin flavor. I wasn't too sure about that combo, but it was delicious and super-refreshing. It smelled like a taco...but didn't taste like one! The Lemon Mango Turmeric was really good too. I also enjoyed the demonstrations lead by Chef Amber. She also has a light that was a pleasure to witness. I could just tell that she really loves what she does. While she does not work there, she still gets to come back for the fun stuff (her words). She has been a huge influence on the whole tinned fish movement at the smokehouse and develops recipes and curates these events alongside Nolan and the team. I loved both recipes that were shared with us and her enthusiasm to show us how we can elevate the tinned fish beyond the can. We mingled. We made friends. Free parking is conveniently located in front of the restaurant. The Flag Room (over 21 only) is just off the lobby to the left and tastefully decorated in black and white race decor with a 60's feel. Slightly dated decor in the venue section of the building but it's coming back! The Flag Room has bar seating or 4-top tables with windows overlooking the back of turn 2 of the track. There was another dining area inside for under 21 patrons when we visited. Not sure if that area is always an option. As we entered the Flag Room our server asked if we'd prefer to sit on the deck. Yes, of course, on this beautiful fall day. And thank you for asking!! We could see both the jumbotron at IMS, hear the cars right next door and enjoy the players on the golf course all while sitting on the deck. On normal, non-racing days it's very peaceful and quiet. Main courses are mostly sandwiches such as pulled pork hoagies, beef brisket, turkey bacon club, burger, tenderloin, chicken, smoked brisket tacos, house smoked baby back ribs and a veggie wrap. My husband ordered the Brisket sandwich which was not only a delicious sandwich but a good value for the price. It was served with yummy, thick, homemade chips finished off with their own in-house seasoning. Quite tasty and I ususally don't care for thick chips. I ordered a cup of the Smokehouse Chili with cheese and onion. I enjoyed the meaty, tomato based chili. For my entree I had the flavorful pulled pork hoagie served with excellent lightly battered fries. Again, it was a generous portion of pulled pork with a smokey sauce that had just a touch of sweetness. Most sauces are to sweet for me but I really enjoyed this one. The fries were amazing with a light batter, golden brown and seasoned well. Our server, Alicia I think, was attentive, very personable and friendly. Our drinks remained full, our tasty food arrived quickly and the prices are reasonable for the portion sizes.
