I went to King Ribs today . I have been a loyal customer since I returned to Indiana in 2005 . I have always given them great reviews even when the ribs have been overcooked . Today I ordered my usual whole slab . I was only given 4 overcooked bones and the price was ridiculous! They used to have a full rack deal on Monday but obviously that's not the case any longer . They have reopened the 16th street location after remodeling a must be expecting the loyal customers to pay for it !! After many years of me being a loyal customer I do not plan on returning!! Quality isn't the same like it used to be. Only the mac is good now and I actually don't trust it. Do not recommend. Horrible experience. Waste of money and expensive. Rip off. No good. Overrated. Stopped by King Ribs after a trip to the Indy race way (about a mile up the street). Walked in to the friendliest cashiers. Ordered 2 dinner plates with sides. Got 4 healthy portions of ribs with sweet cole slaw (tasted like candy) & macNcheese. Came with a role, perfect for dipping in the bbq sauce. Other dinner plate was tips and chicken (so tender) with beans and potato salad. Got those good bbq sweats halfway through eatting. We did not have a good experience here. We ordered potato salad and did not receive any. We also did not get a receipt to verify if they heard us order the potato salad or simply forgot to include it with our order. Cornbread is available only on Fridays. Why? Why not every day? I didn't like the honey barbecue sauce on the ribs I ordered. But I managed to fill my belly so it wasn't a total loss. The drive through service was slow. This is the best BBQ in Indy hands down. You need to try this. I got the ribs with hot BBQ sauce and Mac& cheese and baked beans. The ribs were insane. Smoked to perfection. The BBQ sauce was so so good. It was tangy, sweet, and spicy. Both sides were great too, especially the beans. The cashier was friendly and my meal came out quick. I met the chef/owner when he was walking around the dine in area and he was friendly, too. The inside is very cozy and has a vintage look. Overall this is simply the best BBQ in Indy. Mrs. Freda was awesome, she took my order at the drive-through window, and her customer service made my day. She has such a beautiful spirit, and I enjoyed my interaction with her as I paid for and picked up my order. The second time I came (I went inside), I was almost sad to see that Mrs. Freda didn't take my order because she was working the window again, so from now on I see myself taking the drive-through, just for an excuse to have my order taken by Mrs. Freda. Also, I took my ribs back to my coworkers, everyone enjoyed them. The sauce is one of the best I've ever had. However, I do think some of the rib tips were on the tough side. Yesterday(04/08/2026), I went to King Ribs on 16th street in Indianapolis. I ordered a large rib tip, Mac and cheese and a small baked beans to go. Upon arriving home, sitting down and unwrapping the food, I was horrified to see the so called rib tips sitting in a puddle of grease. After checking out the rib tips, I discovered it was 90% fat, very little meat! Needless to say I was super upset. I will never order or eat anything from that place ever again. I didn't like the rude service I received from Briana from 16th St location today. I didnt even bother eating my food because of the customer service she gave me. 30 bucks down the drain smh. To go back and forth with a customer who has pictures and receipts and to tell me what I ordered, which matched my receipt and say I didnt order that is insane, to tell me I didnt order something ( which I did, its the receipt and they put it in my order was even more insane) all of this back and forth because you gave me the wrong side of what I didnt want or pay for and didnt give me what I wanted and paid for and we confirmed it over the phone is even more insane! Today 10-30-25, I got ribs tips, potato salad and bake beans. The ribs were tuff to chew on the outside and the was under cooked on the attached meat to the tips. The beans and the potatoe salad were good. I won't drive from the south side of Indy for awhile to eat food from there. read more

This restaurant was packed. The drive thru line was wrapped around the corner. I was going to wait in the drive thru line, but decided to go in and place a carry out order because it looked like it would be quicker. The restaurant has a picnic table out front that you can eat at and a few tables are open inside for you to dine. As I mentioned, I opted for carry out. They also have daily specials that you can take advantage of. The staff is not rude and not overly friendly. They do their job. They have a menu consisting up ribs, chicken, rib tips, sides and desserts. I opted for a slab of ribs with a side of potato salad and baked beans. The ribs looked delicious, and tasked OK. The potato salad was also good. The baked beans, however were the bomb. I wish I would have got the bigger size. The small sized sides are very small, almost like a sample size. It took a while to get my food, about 30 minutes. They were not very efficient in handling orders in my opinion and could have been done a bit quicker. They do take the extra step in wrapping to-go orders in saran wrap so that the food juice and sauce does not leak all in the bag. I was battling between a 3 and 4 star rating for this place but decided to go with a 4. A 3.5 rating would probably be more appropriate. Their Q is decent compared to other national Q joints that I have been to. You could do much worse in Indianapolis. read more

My family and I stopped here for lunch last week to celebrate my birthday. Having a taste for ribs, we thought we would try King Ribs. My wife and I shared a slab of ribs. They were meaty and delicious! The sauces (mild and hot) were good but a little thin. My son and daughter tried the chicken and thought it was very good too. HA! If you read my reviews you may get the impression I only dine at fine dining places but don't get me wrong, I like ALL food! Stopped in here for lunch. My husband and I decided to dine in. We ordered rib tips and a chicken sandwhich and sides. The service was great. The ladies that took the order make you feel like family. You can tell they really enjoy working there and all consider themselves a family not just a job. When I had questions I honestly felt like I was talking to my aunt. Just kind and very warm.
