Stopped by on a rainy weekday morning, since they were convenient to where I was staying. It wasn't super busy, but there were a few people enjoying their food. I ordered an everything bagel with hummus, and it came out relatively quickly, particularly since they had to go fetch the hummus from the back. The bagel seemed fresh and they gave me a good blob of hummus on the bagel. Enough to get plenty of taste, but not so much that I had a hummus covered shirt after eating it. Nice quick and tasty breakfast. I don't think I would make a special trip, but it's a good option if you find yourself nearby. read more

Great and friendly service at this bagel shop I had not tried before. It is in Clay Terrace and I stopped in after an appointment at my eye doctor. My eye caught the cheddar jalapeño and that's what I went for. For a cream cheese, I topped it with the same thing - cheddar jalapeño. It's a nice clean bagel shop. I'm guessing most customers use the app to order. Hmm? The place is clean and the guy behind the counter was friendly. They open early at 6:30 am until 2:00 pm. I ordered a chocolate chip bagel and it was soft, but I'm not sure what they use for chocolate chips. The chocolate chips didn't resemble a chocolate chip or even a melted one. Stopped in here on a whim and was not disappointed! We were at the end of their day so they were out of some stuff but that's to be expected. We had an incredible staff member help us. She was EXTREMELY friendly to my niece and nephews and definitely made this a 5 star experience. The bagels and cream cheese combos we had were amazing. I'd highly recommend the cheddar jalepeno. We needed a bagel shop close by so I was happy to learn about Barry's Bagels in Clay Terrace. They started as a family-owned business 50 years ago, but I'm not sure which state they originated. Recently, franchises have started to pop-up around the Midwest and this location in Carmel is the first in Indiana. When you walk up to the store, you can see bagels baking in an oven through the window. If you're lucky, you can even see the bagels being made. Inside, the shop is upscale (brand spanking new). You order at the counter and wait for your bagel to be ready. (Or you order on-line for pick up). There are a couple tables and a set of comfy lounge chairs. We stopped by for bagels and cream cheese for a late breakfast. They offer traditional flavors - plain, asiago cheese, everything, etc and several flavors of cream cheese - plain, strawberry, chive, etc. I got the everything bagel, tasted with chive cream cheese. The bagel was soft with lots of soft cream cheese. They have an extensive bagel-related menu offering breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads and a couple soups. They also have several coffee options. Prices are reasonable. They also offer Junior sizes for the kids and cater. While I was there, the assistant manager took orders and prepared the bagels and the general manager was in the back making bagels. They were friendly and patient as we learned the menu. This is one of the times I wish Yelp let us give half stars, because our experience was a solid 3.5. First off: If you read some of the other reviews, you'll notice that most of them had a satisfactory experience because they ordered ahead via the app or the website. I think this is the way to go with Barry Bagels! We did not order via the app or website, and instead chose to order at the store. It seemed like the people at the counter were befuddled as to why anyone might just walk into a bagel place and order on-site. We had a rather large order, and instead of writing the order down, they had us repeat the order several times as they worked on each item. I think they definitely need to work out a system, which I'm sure comes with time. As of this writing, Barry Bagels has been open a handful of weeks. When we visit again, I will definitely order online. And we will definitely visit again, because despite the hiccups, I think it's great that there's a bagel shop in this part of Carmel. If you like your bagels toasted, I would recommend asking for them extra-toasted, because the bagels we got that were supposed to be toasted were just barely. Also: When you ask for cream cheese, they spread it on thick! If you are not a fan of so much cream cheese, you might want to ask for a light schmear. Also: I loved the scallion cream cheese. Having grown up in Brooklyn I'm always on the lookout for a good Bagel and schmear. Opening up a hot minute ago I decided to buy a dozen and check out their fare. I arrived in the middle of lunch with a substantial line and was told by the owner to download the app, it may be quicker for a dozen. It was. Downloaded, ordered and out the door before the queue moved a couple of spots. Pro Bagels: tasty, fresh, seasoned well, good skin on them, a bit undersized but not everyone makes NY sized bagels. Con- growing pains, new employees. A dozen (13) is not 11 so the pups went without their plain bagels. Also check which size schmear is purchased. Who's been waiting for a bagel shop to open in Carmel!? Meeeee! Made to order bagels, all different types and flavors, regular bread as well. They have a rewards program and we signed up since there was a pretty long line, but new spot and made to order, you're expected to be more patient and kind to the workers. Along with bagels, they have a cookie and sweet counter, take away salads and drinks and even a Bagel hot dog! Julienna greeted and thanked people for their patience- which is really the only necessary acknowledgment needed. Saw their ad on Instagram and decided to stop by today! I love bagels and was excited to see a bagel shop open up close to home. I think it's closer to 3.5 stars, but yelp doesn't allow half stars, but not quite a 4 yet. The bagels were good, chewy, but the presentation and service could improve. You go in, order, and they recite your order back to you (required some repeating). There's a lot to choose from, but there were also made to order, pre-decided sandwiches as well. I'll stop by again for just a bagel and cream cheese, but will pass on the bagel sandwiches. My husband wasn't satisfied with his bagel sandwich either. There were a lot of pickup orders though! I'm so excited to have a great bagel shop in Carmel! I have made several visits for both breakfast, lunch, and take home bagels. The bagels are great and the main attraction! I love that they have a great salt bagel. The staff is friendly and the service has improved since they opened. The weekends are pretty busy, so anticipate having to wait a bit. We mobile ordered 30 minutes prior to when we wanted to pick up. Our food was ready on time and pick up was quick and easy. Both bagel sandwiches were delicious! We both felt the sandwiches were a little "wet" likely due to condensation from a hot sandwich being wrapped in foil. Overall very yummy! We love a good kettle cooked bagel spot! I stopped by the second day of being opened and it was pretty busy! Not a whole lot of seating inside. I love being able to get a bagel sandwich with cream cheese! I opted for turkey, cheese, lettuce and honey mustard with scallion cream cheese. So delicious! And very aesthetic. The staff was super friendly and got everyone through the line rather quickly even with the large crowd. I paired my sandwich with the Mac and cheese which was also delicious and creamy! Makes me think of chick fil a Mac and cheese. Next on my list will be to try a bagel with a sweeter cream cheese and a breakfast eggle. read more

Hands down the best bang for your breakfast buck! We went around 10 AM on a Sunday, and there was about a 10 -15 minutes. Honestly well worth the wait! We ordered the eggels both with jalapeno cheddar bagels, eggs, and cream cheese spread. They do spread the cream cheese on thick. If you're not the type of person who likes a messy bagel, then I'd ask for them to go light on the cream cheese. Otherwise this is a multiple napkin bagel sandwich. We decided to check out this new bagel shop in Clay Terrace. Maybe we went on a bad day, but the experience was terrible and we won't return. The person who prepared our food did not smile or engage and made us feel very uncomfortable with how obviously she didn't want to be there. The manager was there but on the phone during our visit so didn't jump in to help. I am totally fine with a new place figuring things out, but our orders seemed to create confusion, my sandwich was wrong and by the time we paid we were just happy to leave with something. We saw that Barry's was open this morning, so we went in to get my wife a bagel and I'M the one that got a surprise! Their coffee is AMAZING! They have a tiramisu blend that is incredible! Not your synthetic sugary tasting blend. It's definitely a roast! Not bitter or acidic. A great cup of coffee! My wife thought The bagel (cinnamon vanilla) was fantastic with a very generous serving of cinnamon swirl cream cheese. The employees were welcoming and so kind! We will definitely be back!
