An amazing experience here, I can see why this place is named "Big Bang Sushi"! The menu here is quite extensive (it's not just sushi you can order from here), and the service is fast and friendly. Prices are quite reasonable, and they have some unique specialty rolls you can only seem to find here. I like that! The sushi here tasted so fresh and every bite melted in my mouth. So did their mixed tempura, which I ordered while here. Big plus: the tempura was not greasy! This can be an issue some other restaurants, I've found. The dining interior is pretty small but not to the point where you have to wait so painfully long in a line. Definitely one of my favourite sushi places in Vancouver, I'll be sure to come back the next time I'm in town. read more

What's more important to you...price or quality? If it's quality then go with this place. If it's price then go else where. I'll tell you why. The quality of their sushi is superior to their competition in the area, but their portion sizes are smaller. So, you might have to get a couple of more rolls to satisfy your sushi crave. This also applies to their miso soup. It was packed with seaweed and tofu, whereas other places don't even have seaweed and barely any tofu. If you know your sushi, you'll notice the difference in quality here right away. It's very tasty. I personally prefer to pay the extra buck for better quality. That pretty much sums it up. read more

Visited Vancouver for the first time and decided to check out the downtown area after visiting Stanley Park which is super close to Big Bang Sushi! From the outside, it had a cute exterior and once you enter, there is an interesting fish tank that you can look at. Staff was super friendly and we received our food in a timely manner. Complimentary hot tea was served first. We ordered a ton of great food ranging from sushi, miso soup, lunch combo, takoyaki, and tempura! Seafood was super fresh, probably the best one I've ever had. My personal favorite was the Scallop hand roll, Golden roll, and the takoyaki. Everyone please visit this restaurant if you are in town! Awesome little sushi shop on Denman. I ordered the Chirashi Don. I think it came with nine different items. It was beautifully plated. The fish was good but the sushi rice was also fantastic. I normally don't pay too much attention to the rice but theirs was really good. I also ordered the scallop handroll and that was also very good. Another excellent sushi spot in the west end! Friendly staff and efficient service. Prices are excellent and the sushi is quite good. I ordered spicy agadashi tofu, yam roll, cucumber maki, and avo roll. The rolls are tight and packed full. The agadashi tofu was perfect! The spicy sauce is delicious and has slivers of green onions. The yam roll was perfectly warm and full of yam-y goodness. The other rolls are your standard rolls! Great spot to eat in or take out. When I am in Vancouver I go to Big Bang Sushi. The food is great and so is the service. After a day walking in Stanley Park, I come here for the salmon teriyaki with a combo meal. They serve very healthy meals with lots of vegetables and salad. It is challenging to make good tempura but they make the best tempura here at Big Bang. The miso soup is always good and hot. The seafood is very fresh as you would expect in Vancouver. They make great nigiri sushi too and I get a few pieces when I am extra hungry. #199 2nd trip in 2 days. I found out about this from my very close pimp (partner in mutual pain). So, I went on Saturday afternoon and though we were the only customer, that didn't last long. It began to fill up. Ultra friendly staff whom listens and does not interfere with your meal. New discovery, the Pandan Leaf tea! Yes!! The good: the cucumber wrapped Sunshine Roll (very few places have these), Hungry Roll, Big Bang Roll, Spicy Tuna Sashimi. The bad: I'll let you know when I find it. I think they are open until 2100 or 2200 currently. Chatted with the owner but was too busy eating to pay close enough attention. Genuinely nice gentleman. They may start delivery with other delivery services. P.S. I came back on Sunday; nothing changed. Again, we were alone with the staff and then it got busy. Pretty typical sushi place, looks newish inside. Wood tables and chairs. I visited at a weird time to grab take out, 4:00, so it was completely empty. The menu is huge for this place which I like, but it's a bit expensive. Beach side sushi seems to be more expensive lol. I ordered the English Bay roll for $13.95 ($$). It was tasty and quite pretty. Basically this is a califoenia roll with to ago and eels on top with avocado and some sauces. It was very good. It's unfortunately they do not have brown rice here, I subtract a star for that. This is Vancouver, we all trying to eat healthier, esepciay with a this take out lol I also tried the spicy Salmon sashimi. I wasn't overly impressed with this dish for $9. It wasn't very large and it wasn't spicy at all. It tasted more like a seseme flavor. The quality of fish was definitly there, but the sauce was not for me. I would try this place again because there was a lot to choose from and it's close to home. read more

To be clear, there's nothing special about the ambiance, but if you're looking for quality sushi at very reasonable prices, this is the spot. Ended up getting take out from Tom Sushi another time and we all agreed that Big Bang was at least as good, if not better. This place is the best option on Denman. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the takeout is quite speedy. We are really impressed with the size of the rolls, freshness of the sashimi and quality of the rolls. They offer a nice variety of combos perfect for a beach picnic, free West end delivery and 15% off takeout orders on Wednesday's. We typically get their sushi/sashimi combos and miso soup and are always satisfied. I especially love the yam avocado roll. Big Bang deserves to be your local go-to spot! read more
