Big Ange's is an incredible bbq focused restaurant with an Italian twist. I finally got to visit my Uncle Mike aka da MeatMan and it was a memorable meal. Let me set the stage that this was following thanksgiving dinner also prepared by my favorite chef, Uncle Mike and his loving family. The man loves making people happy with food and delivers with delicious flavor. Big Ange's is owned by a Italian family and I got to meet Rocco, great guy! There is a big friendly crew working in harmony and a good reason locals were coming in at 3pm. This place rocks! The standouts for me were the pastrami (not from your Mommy), the rip tips were outstanding and the burger. I'm still salivating from the stellar sides, which were white cheddar ooey gooey Mac n Cheese and crispy hand cut french fries, Outta this world good!!! I did not try the hot dogs, polish or the salami stuffed grilled cheese because I was only eating for one human. You can't go wrong here as they have a little something for everyone. Can't say enough about the food. Yet the passion and service of the staff and owners was even more impressive. We were just in town from Omaha. My wife is from Kansas City so we know good BBQ. I had the Porchetta Sandwhich which was fantastic. However I could not stop helping my wife eat her Prime Rib and burnt end sandwich. I Live a couple blocks away from Big Ange and for a local BBQ it's Amazing, The place is Super CLEAN and Food is delicious. The service is Badass as well as the workers , you have Mike on the meat cutters board and Robert the cash handler and the best part is that they know me by name and always welcome me when I walk in. Rocco the owner is on Point and the MASTER Smoker, every morning he's out there rain sleet or snow getting the big Haus smoker ready for day. This place was GREAT!! We just stopped by for dinner, and everything was awesome. The burger was fresh and juicy. We got the porchetta sandwich and also so delicious (we added hot peppers). The fries were hot and crispy, good size too! Everyone working there is so nice and friendly that we want to come back just to see them! Mike at the register was super nice and helped us through the menu. It didn't phase him when I asked for multiple things on the side (I'm THAT girl). They cook everything to order, which is my favorite way because I hate when things are sitting under the red lamp. Hubby and I are all about trying new places vs going to a chain, and we are sure glad we tried this place while we were in the area. Had a Maxwell Polish and fries, and both were fantastic! What stuck out the most was the attention the employees gave to the customers. My husband ordered while I used the restroom, and when I came back and looked at the receipt I asked him why he didn't order a drink. One of the employees immediately asked if I wanted a cup of water. As we are chowing down, another employee brought an older couple (also eating) some food in carry out containers. He started to walk away, stopped, and then asked if they wanted him to put it in the warmer for them until they were ready to leave. The drawback was it's a bit tight for the crowd it attracts. Have been to Big Ange's several times and even met Ange, what a nice, wonderful person. This place is spotless and a gem in the community. We've had everything here. Our favorite is the brisket, by far. So soft, and melt in your mouth. The Haystack Onions are also very good. Love the cold salads, all of them. The ribs are, as others have mentioned, on the tough side. The tips are good, but alas, as others have mentioned, are drowning in sauce. We've come to expect that though we ask for sauce on the side every time, we never get the courtesy of sauce on the side. The brisket doesn't come sauced, maybe that's why we always order this. Delicious food with a friendly staff. Best French fries ever and onion strings. I wish they had a small order because the sandwiches are so big.
