Very good food. A little pricey but worth it. My kids love the Mac and cheese with bacon. My husband and I like all of the sandwiches.

We've lived in the area for just over two years... how am I only NOW discovering Big Ange's?! This place is DELICIOUS! My husband and I got takeout and cannot wait to go again. We both had the Meatball Sub which was 1. HUGE and 2. Amazing. The sauce is full of flavor, the cheese was melted perfectly, and it was so big we had leftovers for later! We also had cheese fries, onion straws, and a strawberry shake and chocolate shake. The shakes were so rich and thick, and the fries perfectly done. This place is legit. So far, I've tried the burger, brisket and Italian beef sandwich. Each were top notch. The burger, in particular, might very well be the best burger I've had in the suburbs so far. Its incredible and worth making a trip over to try it. Great first experience. The place: The place is SPOTLESS inside and outside. There is a really nice outdoor eating area under a pergola with plants (ambience). The bathroom is super clean. Yes, that matters and speaks volumes about the place in general. Parking may be tricky but there is a big park district lot across the street. The People: Everyone who works here is helpful but not pushy. They follow your lead. If you have questions about the BBQ, they help. They have a BBQ sampling station, which helped me pick rib tips for my dinner. Shout out to new friends Johnny, Rocco and Linda! The Food: The rib tips were tender, tangy and plentiful. The mac & cheese is killer. Don't have it too often or your jeans won't fit. My husband had the Signature Angus burger. He loved it. I enjoyed the bite that I sampled. Great fresh fries. We will get them extra crispy next time because that's how we roll. The strawberry Italian Ice was so delicious. They make it there and it really has strawberries (pulp and a few little seeds!). We ordered the following: Brisket: was very tender and full of flavor. Tasted like the ones I've had in Austin and Houston as I go there a lot. Rib tips: I'm a big fan of rib tips. It was very meaty but would have preferred them to be a little bit charred. Sauce: is not exactly a barbecue sauce. It was thin but not really the vinegary type either. Most bbq places have more than one kind of sauce but not in this case. I'd opt to bring my own if I'm to go back. Service was great and they let us sample the lemonade and the brisket. Disappointed in my first stop to pick up carry out bbq food in the northwest suburbs. I've read many positive reviews here and set the bar high for my first experience. I ordered 1/2 pound each of the brisket and pulled pork. I didn't want the sandwiches because I had sides at home to add to the bbq. The brisket was sliced a little too thick for me, had too much fat on the edges, and was a bit over cooked. I know.... how can brisket be over cooked. I understand brisket has some necessary fat, but this was a little too much. (Look at picture) The brisket was tough to cut and was a little chewy when eating it. The pulled pork was juicy and moist. It was sitting on a napkin inside the container and there was a puddle of liquid under the pork. BBQ sauce costs .25 cents for each small container which I didn't understand. If I'm already paying a lot of money for all that meat, shouldn't you include 1 tiny container of bbq sauce per order. Not sure if I'll sample more of the BBQ here in the future or stop at my regular BBQ place which always delivers top notch BBQ. read more

Had the smoked corn beef. It was terrible. The owner asked what was wrong and I told him it had a severe salty taste. Salt does not come naturally when smoke is used. It had to be added. The place is small but size had little to do wit good or bad. We gave this place 2 tries and both were bad. Perhaps other things that are NOT smoked there like the sausage. We used Big Ange's for a casual BBQ rehearsal dinner in Benton Harbor, MI this past weekend. A little daunting not knowing how the food would travel and keep warm. At Rocco's suggestion, we cut the brisket when we were ready to serve it. Let me tell you, the brisket was out of this world. The bark was phenomenal and flavor was outstanding. The pulled pork (I heard) was the best they had ever had. I'm not a pulled pork person, so I will take their word as there was nothing left. We also served mac-n-cheese because you can't have a BBQ without it. Again, there was very little left. Our guests could not stop talking about how good it was and even said that it was as good as Smoque BBQ in the city, if not better. Personally, I think it is definitely better! We had maybe a pound leftover and one of the guests asked if they could take it with them because they wanted some of their friends to try it. Guests came back for seconds because they couldn't get enough. Rocco was spot on with the amount we would need. I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. We always use Big Ange's to cater our parties and people ask, "Are you getting brisket from Big Ange's?" I can't say enough about Rocco, Big Mike, Brian and all of the staff. First, everyone is so friendly here! I live in Chicago, and my family lives in the north burbs. Every time I make a trip to visit family I purposely plan a detour to eat here or pick up food. Everything I have had on the menu is great! So much flavor, the right amount of food for the price! I am a burger girl, and I can't get over how they perfected the diner burger. Today was our first visit to Big Ang Eatery and it was amazing! They asked if we had been there before and we said no and they gave us a sample of the brisket and the tri-tip and wow what a fantastic surprise! My niece suggested this place and I thought it was going to be just a hot dog and hamburger joint but talk about amazing BBQ! My niece had the tri-tip sandwich and I had the lean brisket sandwich and both were fantastic. We split an order a fries which was more than enough for two people and had a little side of horseradish sauce. I usually take a picture of my food but we ate it too quickly and forgot to take pictures! Great food coupled with awesome hospitality means we will be there again very very soon. This is definitely a Hidden Gem in Arlington Heights that I would recommend to anyone who's looking for some good barbecue quality food in a fun and super friendly atmosphere! read more

I just want to say this place is amazing! I meant to write a review but better late than never. It was my first time ever going to big Ange's and my fiancée has been raving about this place for years and we finally were able to go. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Bryan. He asked us if we've ever been here and i told him it was my first time and was amazing and gave me samples of their tritip and brisket and boy oh boy it was delicious. And he started talking about menu and recommend items and i got the brisket sandwich i would say one of the best brisket sandwich I've ever had. My fiancée and i got a fountain drink and he forgot he wanted me to try their homemade lemonade and an employee overheard and told him it's okay and grabbed his cup and gave him their homemade lemonade. I would definitely recommend trying it! I would say if are thinking about coming here, you should definitely go in. The food is delicious, the customers service is amazing(never had this kind of service before) and i like the decor. We enjoyed our meal on the outdoor patio; it was a beautiful day. The staff came out regularly to sanitize and clean the tables and chairs after patrons left. Dropped by yesterday for a quick and casual dinner and we were wowed by their brisket sandwich and their smoked pastrami. The brisket was outstanding (WGN's Dean Richards was right) and so tender and tasty that no bbq sauce was needed. Pastrami was equally outstanding, but only available Friday/Saturday. We finally got to try Ange's after passing by it a million times. That big smoker outside in the parking lot just makes you look and want to check out the place. There's a lot of hellos and warm greetings when you enter this cozy mom & pop family spot. They offer you samples of their smoked meats while you check out their menu. How fun! We ordered the following to go: - Brisket: One of the best I have ever had. It was soft, moist and tender, yet it held its good texture. - Smoked pastrami (only available on Saturdays): I've never had smoked pastrami so ordered a sandwich on rye, with mustard. The meat tastes completely different from the ones you get at a deli because it's freshly smoked on premise. I would have it by itself without the mustard next time. It's a solid piece of smoked meat! - BBQ Ribs: They do a St. Louis, fall-off-the-bone style BBQ ribs here. Normally not my go to type since I prefer my ribs that I can bite into and that's not smothered in BBQ sauce. With that said, the ribs are pretty good and the sauce is sweet. I've had better but this was still very enjoyable and would recommend it to others. - onion straws: Nicely seasoned, it is a good addition to a sandwich but may be too salty by itself. Have been here a few times recently and have always found the food to be excellent. However, when I stopped for dinner last week I was disappolinted. The pulled pork sandwich was still incredible - and a very generous portion. But the potato salad - usually one of my favorite sides - was horrible. Potatoes weren't cooked nearly enough; were very hard. I should have complained, but that's not my way. If it happens again, I will definitely complain. This time I also had a chocolate milkshake - something I've hestitated to order in the past because of the amount of calories involved. I love this place! I get the Pulled Pork Sandwich and it is one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I have ever had.

This was my first visit, so I have only one experience on which to base my review. I will update after future visits. The place is quite small inside. But it's nicely decorated in a style that reminded me of a Memphis BBQ restaurant. And it smelled that good too! The menu has lots of good BBQ on it. But I couldn't sample any of that on this visit. I will next time though. What I did have was an Italian beef sandwich and fries. Both the beef and fries were served in generous portions. And the fries were outstanding! The beef was good, but there are places that serve a tastier beef sandwich. This one is light on the flavorful spices that I enjoy so much. If you like more subtley spiced beef you may prefer this one. Like I said, not bad but ordinary. If there is a negative it's the parking situation. The sight is on an oddly shaped triangular lot at a busy intersection. There are maybe a dozen parking spots not all of which are in front of the building. As the inside is rather small that may be sufficient to fill the dining room. But the nature of the place makes me believe that they do a brisk carryout business. That will make it hard to navigate in and out of the lot. I almost decided to move on until I discovered a couple of spots in what looked like they might belong to the next door business. But I was there at what should be the height of the lunch hour and did find parking. Just be forewarned. read more
