I have loved BF Bakery for years, and I still do. This review is only for the service I experienced today, unfortunately. On March 26, 2025, around 6:00 PM, I was waiting to check out, but no one was at the front counter. I repeatedly said "hello" and waited politely for several minutes, wondering if there was a sign indicating that the bakery was closed. Finally, a young Hispanic girl appeared from behind the machines and stared at me as if I had offended her. She continued to stare at me with an attitude and did not apologize for making me wait. I recognized her as someone who had been rude and hostile towards Asian customers in the past. This would be the last thing I wanted to encounter at the end of the day. I'm old, I'm tired, and I just want to go home and enjoy my favorite bakeries! I sincerely hope that the management of 99 Ranch in Plano, TX, will implement much better customer service protocols for this particular individual or consider letting go of this young Hispanic girl who seems to have personal issues with Asians. read more

Probably stands for Big Fat Bakery since that's what their products are doing to me. The BF Bakery is more like the BFF Bakery because me and the custard tarts here are Best Friends Forever! I love Asian bakeries, some more than others, but rarely have I found an Asian custard tart that is as sensational as the Portuguese versions, the likes of which are plentiful in Toronto and Newark, NJ (yes I said Newark, NJ, shut up, what do you know.) Perhaps it stands for Bona Fide Bakery because these tarts are the real deal. But then that's what the old man in the alley in Soho (London) said to me. So anyway, not only do they have one of the best custard tarts I've had from an Asian bakery (and only a dollar), but they also have really lovely milk tea, which tastes more rich and creamy like Taiwanese style, which is my favourite (and they invented Bubble Tea). Because it was late, the tea had an insane cheap price (one dollar!), but even at regular times it's only $2. Which is half the price (or less) than most Bubble Teas. Not to mention the fact that they actually served me at about 2 minutes to closing! And were very sweet about it! Now that's what I call customer service. Oh wait, no this is what I call customer service (pulls down pants). Or maybe it stands for Bent Fork Bakery. After all, a lot of people have a "Bent Fork". A little curvature to the left. No biggie. Anyway, if I had to summarize it in one word: This bakery is heaven. You have to come here to try their baked goods, especially the aforementioned, really incredible, custard tart. Other baked goods I've tried here are top notch. And as I said, it was really nice service from the older woman who I think runs the bakery. Speaking of runs I have to pop to the restroom. I just hope it doesn't stand for "Bad F*** Bakery." Because mediocre, vanilla f***s are bad enough. Especially when they come with the drama afterwards. Like being remanded into Custardy. Just left this bakery completely astonished. The only person at the front servicing customers is a hispanic girl who doesn't speak a single word of English. I wanted to buy bread and asked her about their promotion, she just stared back at me. I wanted to order a drink and she kept saying no, the only word she knew how to say. Im all for people working together, but please learn to speak English so you can communicate with customers. This is a basic requirement for working in service. Will not return. read more

Price for breads range around $1.20-$2 for single bread, super affordable and reasonable price. Saturday and Sunday mornings are when they have fresh baked goods out constantly! + Portuguese egg tarts are delicious! A lot of times they have deals where they are $1 each or even cheaper ! + all their sweet and savory breads are delicious: pineapple milk bread, hot dog bread, green onion bread, pork sung bread, & taro bread are all must tries! I would have to say giving 4 stars instead of 5 because other 99 ranches are a lot cleaner looking. read more

BF Bakery and Café took over the formerly Desir bakery. Still the same products, and the same store. I believe even the people are the same. I stopped by this location inside the 99 Ranch store in Plano because I was told by several Portuguese expats that this was the place to get pasteis de nata, otherwise known here as the Portuguese-style egg tart. When I arrived, I couldn't find it but upon asking at the counter, they told me they would have it ready for me in 10 minutes. It was nice to know that I can order them freshly prepared. Each was $1.75, and given to me piping hot. The flavors were good, and I enjoyed it. It's not exactly like Belem's or the pasteis I get from Portuguese supermarkets, but this may be as good as it gets. For once, I'm thankful for the European colonization of China, haha (with the Portuguese establishing the Chinese city of Macau where these custards can be found everywhere). Other pastries here seem to sell well, as there was a line when I arrived in the morning and breads/pastries were consistently sold out and being replenished. All in all, a good sign. I LOVE this bakery! Located inside 99 Ranch, this Asian bakery is sure to satisfy all your carb-y needs. They have both sweet pastries like red bean bean, milk bun, egg tarts...and savory pastries as well like hot dog green onion bun, pork sung bun, cheese bun. They're freshly baked each day! Just get a pair of tongs, a tray, and load up. :) (Yes please use tongs and not your hands thank you.) Each item is affordably priced $1-2 with some exceptions like their roll cakes and toast. Here are my favorite pastries: + red bean mochi bun + bo luo bun (pineapple bun) + fruit custard bun + Japanese bun (looks like a flower and is crispy on the outside!) The only thing that I have not enjoyed are their cakes. I had a black forest cake and it had too much frosting for my liking. I prefer Mozart or Tous les Jours for cakes! Definitely stop by if you get the chance. Go in the late mornings to get first pick and to avoid the crowds. Plano is really lucky to have such a large Asian bakery like this. :) read more

Now with many more Asian bakeries that are "sanitary (bread in cases)," I'm happy that BF Bakery & Cafe has started using them too! Everything used to be individually wrapped, and I'm not saying it wasn't fresh back then, but something about unwrapped bread makes them look better. I usually choose my bread not knowing what is inside, but everything I've had so far tastes great! They also have egg tarts here for $1.75 and a variety of cakes and desserts. I haven't tried anything else besides the bread here, and looking forward to trying them in the near future. I also like the buy 1 get 1 free special for the bread from yesterday. Nothing is wrong with day old bread! I usually eat my purchased bakeries the next day anyways! PS: They also now yell out "Fresh bread!" when a new batch is out. Sounds familiar.... read more

This fantastic bakery is located inside of 99 Ranch Market, and accepts the 99 Ranch Market reward card. We shop early in the morning, and the warm fresh breads are coming out of the ovens at that time. The bread prices are reasonable, and the flavors are phenomenal. Every flavor of bread is wonderful, but our personal favorite is the custard. The toast loaf, a smaller loaf without heels, is a great option for those who do not need a huge loaf of bread. Milk tea tastes yummy for only $0.99. The BEST part of this bakery is the cake! The cake is more expensive than conventional American bakeries, but is so beautiful and flavorful.
