Storefront.

This might be the best comic shop I've ever seen...but I walked out without making a purchase. Shop is huge with high ceilings and is STOCKED with comics, figurines/toys, and gaming items. The huge Hulk statue in the middle of the shop is rather cool. The shops large stock of Board Games is located in the front of the store. Also in the front of the store is the rather extensive selection of new pull comic books. At the counter were various Magic cards and Heroclix, shop had an ok selection of Heroclix. Figurines and toys are located all over the shop with some behind the counter and many on the wall. The shop has one of the most extensive collections I've seen outside of a convention. An excellent stock of Graphic novels was located towards the back of the shop along the wall. Shop had a longbox selection with a mix of new and old books; some were kept in drawers beneath the longboxes. They also carried a selection of completed comic sets near the cheap longboxes. What causes me to not give this a clear five star review was they had some organization issues. It looks like at the time of my visit they just took delivery of a large amount of figurines that were stacked all over the back of the shop. It would have been nice to look at the clearance graphic novels, but the carts were stashed away in a back corner and were not easily accessible. The shop also had a large longbox selection of cheap comics, but with little apparent organization, and the longboxes were stored in a manner that made them hard to search though without pulling the whole box out. The staff was quieter then at most comic shops, I suspect that it was because I arrived during lunch and it took about 10 minutes before someone asked if I was looking for anything. Along with that, the Beyond Comics website needs some serious attention and is out of date. Facebook could also use improvement with more updates and pictures of the shop. Next time I travel though the area I'll be stopping again with my friend who is a bigger comic nerd and I think he will enjoy this shop. This shop should have been a clear five star...but came up short.

Definitely a robust selection of comics, board games, and collectible items. The store is quite big, and it's packed with all kinds of stuff. My only real complaint about this place is that it's not very diverse in what it sells. Pretty much the entire store is either Marvel/DC stuff, or Star Wars (given the recent film). But I was definitely pleased with their selection of board games and tabletop stuff!

We visit this comic store whenever we're in Frederick. I think their selection is pretty cool. No major complaints.

Was in town for a short stay. Thought I'd drop by before the flight home. Pretty easy to find off…read morethe highway. If you're looking for new comic books, it's a nice bright store. Everything is arranged nicely (marvel, DC and Indy). Was surprised they still had certain issues on the shelf still. There are some older books behind the counter and back issues in the back back but not taken care of too well. So if that's what you're looking for it's your LCS.

It's a roomy store, compared to a lot of comic shops, with a lot of recent series, if not the most…read morerecent issues of those series. Their margins must be tight, as they open at 10 AM on Wednesday, and some titles are sold out by 11:30. So, they appear to be under ordering, so as not to have to potentially sit on stock. Not too long ago, they changed their policy where they wouldn't be ordering variant covers unless you specifically pre-ordered them. Sure, that's their prerogative, but many variants are open-order, not requiring any minimums on the part of the retailer, so it just seems...odd. The service...This is my biggest gripe. Often, I've gone into the store to find the cashier talking to a friend/acquaintance. A customer might want assistance, and the cashier is visibly annoyed that he has to stop his conversation to provide customer service. Then, once the customer checked out and left, the cashier would turn to his friend and say something like "That's the guy I was telling you about", with a laugh. So, they seem to joke about their customers - the people keeping them in business - and it just feels unprofessional. I've worked retail, so I get it, but those aren't conversations to gold loudly, as other customers are in the store. I mean, what are they saying about ME when I leave? This has happened more than once, while some of the other loud topics of discussion aren't always appropriate for "polite company". The most friendly employee, sadly, passed away recently, so we're left with the ones talking behind our backs.

I really often don't like fan and game stores but this one does it well. An absolute great gamut of…read morefan and throwbacks across all the 80-90-00's material for toys and games, comics. Front and back with free to play arcade games means you can make a bit of time of it, hit the nearby brunch then wander down either memory or fandom lanes. A good showing here and well curated that shows they get it, without seeming like they're "too" interested in the odd hyper price hike cash grab in the space in some of the fandom frenzy areas. Pleasant surprise for a very simple expectation on the outside.

There's everything from comic books and figures to games from Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Warhammer, and anything else you can think of. Some comic books are cheaper than on Amazon. I bought some on Amazon as gifts, only to realize after that, this place has them cheaper! I was just browsing and didn't have any questions or requests from the staff, but based on interactions with others, they know their stuff. This is not a surface-level, small store where they display a tiny collection. They have almost everything. I think that's the most important thing you need to know about this place. I did notice the retro consoles and games like the SNES are priced quite steeply here. They are rare to come by in Northern Virginia, so I'd expect that.

Physical bookstores are few and far between but this one is a nice gem in Frederick. It's big, nice…read moreselection of books and they have done a good job of shifting to other retail things. Toys, games, stationary, music, etc it feels up to date. The Starbucks inside is big with plenty of seating and drinks are solid. Service is good. The staff here are overall helpful and friendly which is really refreshing. As a Lego nerd I was really surprised with their selection which was impressive for a bookstore. Decent deals on their legos and their books. It's nice to support local and smaller businesses that are getting harder and harder to find. This place is a cozy retail space that has 3rd space vibes for you to hang out for a bit while you shop and get a coffee. Would recommend and will be back.

Almost everything is identical as to when they really were growing. That can be said about this location. It felt like it was built a long while ago and they haven't done anything to update it as of yet. Obviously the sections have changed a bit in terms of size and what is offered overall. I found it surprising that they still had a vibrant DVD section (although I am sure they switched over to Blu-ray). The café in the store was going strong while I walked through. I will have to say that my purpose from coming in here was to take a trip down memory lane, and that was about it. I didn't need a book, or magazine, I just wanted to dip my toe into a bit of nostalgia.
