So yeah, this is the best toy store in Maryland. It's like something from a movie-- reminds me of Meg Ryan's children's bookstore in You've Got Mail. Not only is it incredibly charming, but the prices are shockingly reasonable. I bought my son a Green Toy here, and later compared the price with what I would have paid on Amazon. They were the exact same price. What kind of wizardry is that? Make sure to check their Facebook page in December for more info about their Letters to Santa program. read more

This is our favorite toy store without a doubt! Where do I start? The great array of unique products they provide, the community they build, the sheer joy , friendliness, and happiness that their employees bring to the store? My kids love visiting here, but I would be lying if I said I don't love visiting here as an adult. They are the best! read more

Found a gift here for a toddler; I love these kinds of toy stores. Lots of educational toys that kids can actually benefit from. Definitely not your Toys R Us type of place! Whether you're looking for something for your two-year old or a gift for that special niece or nephew, this store is sure to have something to tickle their fancy. Gift wrapping for free!! Super friendly staff earns this store another star. read more

The best toy store ever! My son is absolutely in love with this toy store. We stop in every once in a while to take a look at the new toys and play with the tester toys. We always have so much fun. They carry so many brands of non-toxic, non-chemically-treated toys; this is a mom's dream come true. There is a large selection of fun books in the back of the store as well. My son loves to come here and choose books to add to his collection. This is one toy store that I am no opposed to shopping at and visiting quite often! read more

Legitimately one of my favorite places in Frederick. Love how unique the items are and it's fun finding old school toys I remember playing with as a kid. Definitely will be coming back here over and over again. Fun place to visit :) read more

We LOVE this store! Not only do they have a fantastic and always changing selection of unique battery free toys, they also have an incredibly sweet and helpful team of staff. We always feel welcome when we visit, even on the trips when we don't purchase anything. The prices are very reasonable and everything they carry is high quality. This is a great place to shop for gifts or for your own kids. read more

Every kid and young hearted adult's dream. My son and I enjoyed this store so much and will definitely be back! Staff is so pleasant!!!

I love the idea of a toy and gift store that has "no batteries needed". It has so many seasonal, year-long, educational and just-for-fun stuff for kids of all ages. Unfortunately as a toy collector, there was nothing I could add to my collection. There are brands of toys that don't need batteries that could be offered here: Star Wars, Transformers, My Little Pony and Barbie to name a few. Now if you are a collection of early children literature, this place is a goldmine. Great selection of both activity and reading books. read more

Sweet little toy store whose employees have oodles of useful information! I went here on a whim, not really expecting to find something for my toddler that I hadn't already seen or bought before, but found that there were plenty of toys that I was actually wholly unfamiliar with. Ended up walking out with toys not only for my kid, but for friends' kids as well! read more

This is the cutest dang store. Love the vibe they have going on. They have a no batteries required policy in addition to asking you to please leave your cell phones in your pocket. We could probably spend an entire day playing and browsing. The young lady that was in there encouraged us to play away which is not something a lot of stores welcome. They just have anything and everything you could want in regards to unique toys, games, pretend play and projects. There is also no shortage in nostalgia as they have things I recognized from my childhood and stuff my mom recognized from her own. Again, just a really great store. Perfect if you are buying a gift for someone else or for your own kiddos (or yourself, of course). read more

This store is so much fun! The selection is well curated with plenty of items that you wouldn't find at a chain retailer. Every time I go in, I see a few things I want to purchase for my kiddo and his cousin. The age range is from babies and up, with plenty of educational toys such as science kits, as well as puzzles and arts and crafts. The last time I was in, I noticed "birthday bins" behind the register and asked what they are. It's the same concept as a gift registry; children can come in and fill their bins with toys they'd like to receive for their birthday so their friends can just come in to the store and pick out something from the bin. Very cool! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable which is no surprise since Dancing Bear shares owners with Curious Iguana. read more

Great for all ages -- I've found gifts perfect for my 12 month old nephew, my sister in her 30s, and my 58 year old father. Dancing Bear's staff is friendly and helpful and the selection is fun, unique, educational and timeless. This place is just simply a blast. read more

This is the best toy store ever! I didn't know it was affiliated with the Curious Iguana and when I first went it, I was in amazement. It was the most touch friendly store. And kids seemed to appreciate and respect this. Not one screaming kid to be seen. I asked the staff for help to buy a present for a 4 year old boy and the ideas they came up with were fantastic! I eventually bought the ant farm since it's contained and he can look and observe the ants making their farm. I love the fact this store encourages toys for the imagination. Even my preteens can't wait to see the store and it's hard to get all three kids out. This store is the best! read more

Amazing toy store that beats Amazon and all online shopping every time. High quality, engaging toys that are fun for parents too. It's the closest thing to Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium I've seen. Kids can play for a long time, and when you leave with a new purchase it just feels good. read more

The staff was so kind and genuine and the store has toys for all ages I'm 16 and I found some very some things in there. A great experience

The selection there is really fun. There's a lot of cool toys and board games there. One of my younger sisters wanted something from the shop and we were having a hard time finding out whose card to put it on because we are all broke college students. One of the ladies there rang us up and gave it to us for free. Now obviously don't go there expecting for free stuff, but the point is I've never experienced kindness from a stranger to that degree and service that good. Along with that experience and the Selection of toys, games, and the experience of going into a fun little toy shop like that, this place deserves 5 stars! read more

SO MUCH FUN! My husband and I don't have kids, but we find ourselves in here (and buying things!) whenever we head downtown Frederick. You will love the staff. Whenever we go in there with a specific purpose (birthday gifts for the nieces + nephews) they are so helpful. We always get the perfect gift. I love that it's a battery-free toy store- just goes to show it doesn't have to be electronic to be fun. read more

I was looking for a last minute gift for a friend and stumbled upon this store last weekend. They have a great selection of stuffed animals, games, and toys for children ranging from babies to young kids. I purchased a soft, 'Fuddlewuddle' lamb for $ 22.99 and have been told that my friend's baby loves it. Would go back next time I am in the area. read more

Awesome place to go. They even have a kid's play time where the kids can get a hands on playing experience. I hope to have a chance to visit this place again. If you are in the area then stop in here with at least 30 minutes to spend it here. read more

What a great toy store! The selection here is eclectic and unique. So many options for little ones to use their imagination. I loved that the employees encouraged children to play in the store. My 3 yr old had a blast playing with a marble maze, kids tools, and building toys. I went around the store twice and felt like i could make a 3rd round and still not see everything. I wish there were more toy stores like this around. There's more to toys than just Fisher Price! read more

I had so much fun in this place! So many unique little toys and games for all ages.

Best toy store ever! Books, educational things and plenty of neat vintage type toys you probably enjoyed when you were a kid. Just very unique gifts for kids that would be fun or crafty and you wouldn't find it in a big box toy store. A real treasure in Frederick.... read more

I love this place! No toys sold in this store require batteries. I bought my nephew a real, old-fashioned kaleidoscope. Nothing is off limits, meaning that you can try out anything you're thinking of taking home. There are quotes of amazment and praise on the walls, and they were written by real customers. I know, because I got to write one. Take your kids, take your friends, take your friends kids. Everyone will love it! read more
