If you are a collector of comics, Funko Pops, anime, or the like. this may be the place for you. We came on a trip specifically to visit Collectors Corner and we were impressed. They had a large store with clearly labeled although crowded, aisles of comic, anime, cartoon, manga, clothing, and other items. This store is clearly a comic book lovers dream with a library of new and vintage ones that were for sale. They even had a basement area filled with comic books to purchase in bulk and video games to play. Went to this spot for the Neopets 25th Anniversary event, and was pleased with the items here. There's plenty of parking in the back lot, street parking, and this place is also 2 floors! My friend and I were super excited to purchase a few items from here, and there's plenty of things for readers, collectors, and those who like cool things. I stopped at Collector's Corner today just to check it out since I moved into Parkville earlier this year. It was fun to nerd out and explore this densely packed store which has t-shirts, stuffed animals, anime, figurines, Dungeons and Dragons paraphernalia, games, stickers, and...an awesome collection of Japanese candy. They also have a unique refrigerator full of craft sodas. I was pleased to see familiar friends-- the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Maus, Persepolis, etc.-- the graphic novel selection here is sorted by the publisher and it was quite impressive. I didn't expect to come out of the store feeling giddy, but i sure as hell did LOL. i'm staying in baltimore for about a week to visit family and wanted to fuel my addiction, and this place did NOT disappoint. When you enter, they got comics and the cheaper western figures in front, with the anime stuff and mangas being a little ahead. they also got some candies near the cashiers and retro video games, dvds and loose toys right behind them. the other side of the store is completely just toys, with older ones and new ones and a whole wall of funko pops, if you're into those putrid little things. I found exactly what i was looking for: S.H. Figuarts behind a glass cabinet, and the staff were super nice telling me i could ask whenever for them to open it. There's also a basement with books (with no pictures), vhses, more dvds, cds, and a FREE ARCADE!!! there was also a 20% discount for a pre-black friday sale, which was the cherry on top. definitely come here if you're in the area. read more

I've been frequenting CC for years... even before I moved to Baltimore in 2005! Great selection of new and old comics, toys, vinyl and vintage video games. One of my favourite collector shops to visit. They have a ton of comics, funkos and old toys. First time my husband and I found this place we left with a ton of stuff. I managed to find a Big O model kit for $15 cheaper than it would've cost on Amazon which was amazing imo. Kind of sad to see they cut down on their anime statues BUT they have a great section with--if I remember correctly--a bunch of imported Japanese anime merch. Always good vibes when we visit, they're pretty welcoming and helpful. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I have been collecting comics for over forty years and I have never been in a comic shop as nice as Collector's Corner. The owner, Randy, is very knowledgeable and will go out of his way to make sure you can find what you're looking for. He is always looking for something new to make his shop something special. He has late night hours on the last Friday of the month, swap meets, great sales, and a vast selection of back issues. You can tell that he really cares for his customers! A lot of everything for every nerd, geek, and dork. For the past six months, I've scoured the Baltimore area for a new comic book shop. I've found some places with good prices, some with good selections, and some with a range of items of varying degrees of nerdyness. Collector's Corner is the first shop that's been able to do all three. I came in on a whim, to a major sale of comics, graphic novels, video games, toys, and board games, and everything from modern to vintage. In my first outing, I found an old Sandman manga, an obscure 90's comic missing from my collection, a variant Ms Marvel and Harley Quinn 1st printings, the latest Ms Marvel graphic novel, and a very rare Jhohan Vasques comic that I didn't know existed. This all set me back for the low cost of $34! They have an excellent backlog of old and new comics, a little disorganized but filled with hidden treasures. A stockpile of old video games and DVDs made for some tempting future purchases. And half the store was dedicated to old toys, board games, and pen and paper games. Their calendar and Facebook page has tons of amazing events planned from game tournaments to swap meets. I can't wait for my next visit. Collector's Corner has become my new favorite place in Maryland. read more

why Collectors Corner is awesome... 1st 50 people in the shop get a free tote bag with some goodies. I left a bit late watching Christmas movies (yeah, it was Die Hard) but I still get a tote... sweet! I'm looking for a PS2 for kiddo to have at mom's since I got him a game for the one I have. No PS2's but that's cool, no big deal since I have mine. Look around... almost pick up Superman 18 where he reveals his identity, decide not to get it... look for a Sonic the Hedgehog TPB for Rhys but they were out (it is Christmas Eve, after all)... grab a few items and check out... get to the car, look in the tote... the goodies include Superman 18 AND a Sonic collected book!!!! I'm giving this shop a 3 star rating because of one Wednesday employee. I pop in the shop on various days but look forward to new stuff on Wednesday. The owner has his heart in the right place and cares about his customers and you can see Randy light up with passion on certain topics. Except, lately a newer employee named Matt has soured my experience. He doesn't quite grasp the customer service experience. He tends to talk down to some customers as if he needs to excerpt his male dominance and be the center of attention. The attention should on making the customer enjoy the experience in the store and spread the good word over the I'm in wrong place feeling. So Matt, get out in the world and learn that your condescending jokes aren't that funny to everyone. And Randy, everyone else has been amazing! read more

This place got a lot better over the years. Their board games are MUCH more robust now and for table top, they have a yummy section of new and vintage books. The comic selection has gotten incredible and I am now an avid comic reader. They have a great program to subscribe to comics series. You'll set up a box and you have to subscribe to at least 3 comics. When they come out, in the box they go. They will call when your box is getting full, which I think is a nice touch. They've continue to expand and I've been to many comic shops in Baltimore and Bel Air. None compare to CC. Skip the other places and come here. You won't regret it. read more

Been reading and collecting comics since 1960. Bought FF #1 and Amazing Fantasy #15 new off the racks at the drugstore near my house in Mt Washington. Bought golden age books from Steve Geppi when he still worked out of his mother's basement in Fells Point. Worked as a clerk at the San Francisco Comicbook Company in the 70's. Moved back to Baltimore from Dallas, where my comic shop was the Eisner Award winning Zeus Comics which produces the web series "The Variants" (a sitcom about working in a comic shop-- check it out on YouTube) So I've come to expect a lot from my comic shop. I checked out every comic shop in the area before deciding that Collector's Corner was the place for me to have my pull list. You should have your pull list here too. New comics take up the left wall as you enter. Graphic Novels and trades take up the right. One of the only shops in the area that still stocks a large selection of manga. New toys are right up front and older toys are in the second room behind the cash wrap. Video and table gaming happen all the way back. The basement is filled with literally millions of back issues. While not as slick as some mall comic shops, this place has a great family vibe. Randy the owner's kids are always hanging out at the shop. They have a club for female comic fans and make women feel welcome. Heck, Randy and his staff make everybody feel right at home there. Collector's Corner really is your friendly neighborhood comic shop. Even if you don't live in neighborhood. I drive over 10 miles to shop here, it really is worth the trip. Pretty good place for every thing nerdist. Lots and LOTS of merchandise ranging from comics and graphics to Toys ,card and board games. T-Shirts, posters, etc. You name it they probably have it. The staff is friendly enough and they do a decent job at sales, their back issues section is a little pricy compared to other shops around the city but over all a nice place to grab what you need to satisfy your inner child. read more

This is one of my favorite comic shops! They always have a good inventory of new comics. They also offer many variant covers. I really like that they advertise on Facebook. They always post the new items that come in and even the traded items. The prices here have always been really good. The statues and figures are priced to sell and the selection can be really good at times. They even have people trade or sell there old figures, games, movies, and music! I like when CC advertises classic toys on Facebook. You never know what they'll have next. The membership is a must for anybody who shops here. It's Free! You'll save money with it too. Half off variant covers and other discounts. They hold events here as well. Mostly swap meets and premiere comic events. Enjoy some free pizza! A man named Randy operates this place. Horribly disorganized and no transparency with their customers about pricing. Comics are not bagged and boarded, alphabetized, nor labeled with price tags. After two hours of bin diving and sifting through un-alphabetized utterly disorganized bins, I approached the register to purchase a stack of comics. The salesperson behind the register proceeded to begin pricing the books in front of me--searching the internet for pricing on a paying customer's time. Pricing is something that should be done when putting inventory on the salesroom floor. To make matters worse, the salesperson was stacking my would-be purchases next to an open half-eaten take-out container of Indian food. After 10 minutes of looking up prices online, the sales person had the audacity to want to charge me full NM fair-market-value for books that weren't even bagged or boarded. Clearly, the management cares little to none about maintaining the grades of their books, keeping them organized and does not respect their customers enough to be transparent with their pricing. They essentially depend on their customers to sort through their disorganized bins of comics and identify books of value for them and then charge full FMV, leaving absolutely incentive for customers to spend their time bin diving in the first place. As a 30-year comic book collector who visits comics shops across the country when traveling for business, this is the worst comic book shop I have ever been in. Avoid it. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Look, it's a comic book store, how will it NOT get a good review? Guess what they have? Comics. And lots of them. The owner was super nice and helpful, everything is arranged nicely (found my Hellblazer comics with no problem), and even seems to have a nice gaming room (though there was no gaming going on when I was there). I also know they go out and do lots of community events, so that's a plus in my book. My only disappointment? Not enough Dr. Who toys. But I can live with that, just leaves more room for comics, right? read more

I like the store, it's top notch and have everything an avid comic enthusiast would need. Over the past few months I've really started to go to this place more. While it's still a little far from me, the drive out is worth it. The selection of comics and toys is literally outstanding, and the usage of space inside of the store is pretty epic. This is also the only store in the area that offers a little bit of everything, by that I mean movie nights, gaming nights, comic clubs, and more. I recently stumbled upon this place while out running. To be honest, I hadn't thought much about comics, since I was a kid. However, the store had a very clean, professional appearance, which literally made me want to check it out. And I am quite glad I did. My first time there, I met the owner Randy, who was extremely polite and welcomed me the moment I walked in the door. I had my 2 year old daughter with me and she was being a 2 year old. She was running around, screaming, and grabbing things off the shelves. I apologized, but Randy was very cool about it and stated that he understood, since he had a daughter about the same age. That instantly lowered my anxiety about shopping there, because if your a parent, you know that shopping excursions can be stressful, epic train wrecks. As for the store, I found it to be extremely well organized and to have an ample supply of all things geek. I also found it to be a place that really welcomes and invites people to come and hangout, versus buy something or get out. After my first trip, I took my wife back a few days later, to show her the store. She wanted to see it anyway, because of how impressed I was with the store. Again, Randy welcomed us the minute we walked in the door. He offered to help us with any suggestions, orders, or tips for collecting. Since I had recently got back into comics, Randy provided me with some advice and helped me get the correct items needed. Again, great store. Can't say enough about it. They have all kinds of activities and events on location. They even have employees wearing matching uniform shirts, which is a very nice touch of professionalism. The store is large enough to hold a gaming area for video games and collectible card games and store some old back issues. All of the comics are grouped very well by company and title along with their graphic novel area. This has become my standby for comics, toys, and what have you. They also carry Heroclix singles, which a lot of other Baltimore places don't. The staff is incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and patient (a must with manchildren). Most importantly, they have amazing sales on TPBs, and not just no-name titles, either - I got myself a few books for $5 each, which is a great deal. Comics take up the vast majority of the space, though just about every other geeky interested is represented and attended to. As the name suggests, the selection shines particularly with regards to back issues, second hand goods, and collector's items. Though they don't have everything all the time, they are often the only place to go to get the old stuff. A- Gaming Spaces: *** Almost non-existent at first glance. There is a small space tucked away with card tables and the like. The basic/standard package, Nothing to write home about. C Organized Play and Events: *** If you come for the Comics you will be impressed by the roster of events and guest CC hosts. Notably they do a great free comic book day and have cos-players often as well. The roster of gaming events is less glamorous, with smaller attendance than other shops and only the basics once again; i.e. the occasional draft or release event. Again this is likely due to working within and adapting to the confines of a smaller space. C $ Buying, Trading, and Selling $: **** The shop prices second hand and collector's goods very fairly, and purchases those products from patrons at a superior rate. The only thing keeping them from getting a perfect score in this category is occasional spotty selection, poor organization of Magic and other TCG singles, and the fact that you can only trade with certain staff members-and then only by appointment, which can feel inconvenient at times. B+ Staff and Management/Community, Culture, and Inclusiveness: **** I don't often see a critical mass of people in this store, but those I do observe are regulars who seem to understand what a gem this place is. The staff has great relationships with customers, and strive to take good care of them. While I have occasionally seen issues with gruff management or an awkward customer, almost everyone here is friendly and knowledgeable. The women staff here are awesome and shut down the nonsense so often perpetrated by male dominated nerd culture.
