I love this store. I have visited it twice over the years and both times I have been pleasantly surprised by finding some great stuff. Years ago I bought several CDs here, two of which were hard to find at that point. More recently I bought two original pressings of vinyl records I was looking for. They did cost a pretty penny, but were well worth it. It also just feels like a good store...operating in the basement of a rowhome. It is small, but has a lot of good finds. read more

Rock & Roll Graveyard - Me grabbing the "Boys Don't Cry" comp by The Cure. - Vinyl Records Near Me - Frederick, Maryland

About six weeks ago, I drove 30 minutes to the R&R Graveyard to sell my vintage LPs from the 1960s and 1970s - about 25 classic albums, some with distinct original features. Craig, the owner, told me he'd pay about $125 for them. I thanked him, and said I would try to sell them on FB marketplace or elsewhere first, but might come back. Craig said fine. However, I was unsuccessful on social media, and so about 10 days ago, I went back to the store, after checking with their staff that Craig would be there that day. However, he was not there when I arrived, and so I agreed with Cyril to leave all my albums with a detailed note, including my email and phone #. Cyril said he would talk to Craig, and he'd get back to me in a day or two. After three days and no contact from them, I started calling. I tried at least a dozen times over a week, and they never answered the phone and their mailbox was always full. NO WAY TO REACH THEM. Frustrated, I went back there this past Saturday at personal inconvenience, only to speak again with Cyril in Craig's absence. He told me that Craig had looked at my albums, and was now not interested. The albums were sitting in a corner in a back room with my note on top. I don't have a problem with him not being interested, though it's curious why he was interested at first. The big problem is that he was SO discourteous and neglectful, and didn't show the respect to send me a two-sentence email or make a one-minute call to tell me so. Those albums would have sat there forever until I came back for them, and that's just BAD customer service, and outright disrespectful. I was trying to help him by bolstering his inventory, and I did what his staff suggested (leave the albums), trusting they would show the common decency of reconnecting with me. But no, this level of respect was apparently beyond them. I would not recommend that anyone do business with someone who treats his good-faith suppliers in such a shabby way. read more

Super nice staff. The space is definitely a vibe. Lots and lots of vinyls to choose from. The store is actually split in 2- half of the selection is basement level and the other half is above. They do have new and used, but the selection of new is much larger. read more

Chris and the fellas run a cool record store for sure. They stock a great selection of stuff with super fair prices and deals for the homies who want buy a bundle of stuff. read more

Love this place. I really enjoy talking to Chris and hanging out there, even though I'm from Baltimore. Great selection and great prices. They also have analog audio equipment and vintage record players for sale, which is incredibly unique. They maintenance those things themselves. For instance, I purchased a stacking record player that had some audio issues, and I just had to bring it back in to get the problem fixed. Would go every day if it was close! read more

Great selection. The one and only where you'll find whatever you need or want. Just ask they got you.

Great selection. Very cool store. Excellent selection. Staff was very nice. We will definitely be back.

Great evaluation of our records etc by the owner. Happy with our transaction. Would recommend them.

I visited Frederick for work and was walking downtown and saw this place. I stopped in and the staff right away was friendly and helpful but not "in your face" like most places. The guys working let me wander and just check out the place which I loved vibes. I bought 5 new and sealed records from them and the total was around $85. They have a HUGE selection of records, CD's, and tapes upstairs and downstairs. If you're into music, DEFINITELY stop in. If they don't have exactly what you're looking for, there is something close to it or they'll get it ordered for you. read more

Weird owner with a REALLY off-putting vibe. Records were an below average condition yet overpriced. I've been going to record stores for 45+ years now and this is easily one of the worst I've been to. read more

This impeccably organized record store is small, make no mistakes about it. It's the basement of a row house in historic Frederick. Like... my best guess is that it's close to 300 square feet. But MAN do they use the heck out of every square foot. The amount of records that they have in this place is impressive. The organization is methodical. And the gentleman that helped me that day was SUPER knowledgeable about the selection, records maitenance, and other stores in the area. I really wanted to add some Loverboy albums to my collection; I'd become a fan ever since I realized that pretty much the Wet Hot American Summer Soundtrack is a compilation of some of their greatest hits. The gentleman there not only found all the ablums he had of Loverboy within seconds, but he also was able to tell me the popular albums he didn't have and where to likely find them in Frederick. Overall a great experience. Prices are pretty reasonable. And I inspected each record before purchase, and each was super clean and in almost flawless condition. Definitely would not hesitate to return to this little shop if the mood struck me. read more

This was a record store where it was really fun to pick through the bins and see what you might find. My shopping list is pretty specific (70s/80s/90s punk, new wave, and alternative), and I was able to find things on it both used and new. The people were really nice and it was just a great experience. read more

Shipped me a record then refused to pay for the return shipping or replace the record. But from someone else. Not professional way to conduct business. read more

A great shop with a knowledgeable and passionate owner. Found some gems to take home to Vegas. I will definitely return when I come visit again. read more

This shop already has five stars, but feel compelled to add my own two cents anyway. There are a lot of great record shops in the region, but this is the best. Chris is an expert curator, so you will not be sifting through a lot of junk to find the gems. His prices are unbeatable, five or 10 bucks for most of the stuff, and exceptional things are still very reasonable. He moves a lot of merchandise because of the quality and the price point, which comes not just as a good business model, but also because he loves the music and wants to get it out in the world. He also has an encyclopedic knowledge of different pressings as well as items you would not have considered. Definitely ask his opinion on underrated bands from your favorite subgenre as well as whether he has your elusive holy grail in stock. read more

I needed to find some records for my daughter who is in love with all types of music. I didn't want to spend a ton of money since I was guessing which bands/groups she'd like. I thought that I would try this location first, & I'm so glad that I did. There was a huge selection of all types of music. The owner was there as well as an additional staff person, & they helped me find all kinds of records. I would totally recommend this store to anyone. The staff is awesome, the selection is great, & the prices are perfect. read more

My favorite record store. Everything I have bought (vinyl, speakers) has been in great condition and the prices are the best around. There is a nice stock of classic and modern; rock, r&b, Jazz. The vinyl, cds and stereo equipment is super reasonably priced. Chris, the owner, is a really nice guy to talk to. read more

Stumbled upon R&R Graveyard during an afternoon visit to Frederick. I don't have a record player (I mean, again) and my parents sold my beloved LPs in a garage sale to the neighbor who had a revival New Wave band. *sad face* So I'm slowing rebuilding my collection, although of course it's not the same... Anyway, Chris has a great operation here, mainly because everything is clean and protected and well-priced. I called younger friends who do have a record player, and they put in a few special requests. Worth the trek from DC. read more

The Rock & Roll Graveyard opened this past April and has been a gem in this small town. The owner Chris has worked in record shops for over a decade and is obscenely knowledgeable. Prices are affordable and Chris is willing to hunt for whatever you want. I got a first press of Sunny Day Real Estate and the first Jawbox record there, both for $40 each. Worth the trek. read more

Rock & Roll Graveyard - Vinyl Records Near Me - Frederick, Maryland

I'm not sure how else to say it: This place is freaking fantastic. I love the dude who runs this shop. He's incredibly knowledgeable and a great guy to chat with. Music is definitely his passion, and it shows. The prices are very fair, and the selection is pretty damn good. I've picked up some great records here. CDs, tapes, records, and even record players. This place has it all. I'd highly recommend checking it out. read more

This is my favorite record store for used records. Prices are fair, the owner is knowledgable and friendly. Everything I've purchased here has been cleaned and in decent shape. They aren't trying to pass off inferior quality records as mint condition rarities. Do yourself a favor and check it out. read more

Let me first start of by saying that Chris the owner is one of the most genuine nicest store owners I have had the pleasure of doing business with. His passion for music is felt every time you walk in and talk to him. Rock and roll graveyard is a true gem in downtown Frederick. This basement store has every type of music genre you could possibly want on vinyl, cd, and tape. The prices can't be beat on top of that. I personally make it a point to stop in a couple times a week to check out the bin of new vinyl put out constantly. read more

Despite the name, this place has a lot of great soul & hip hop with a small electronic section as well. There's no budget bin, but everything is very reasonably priced -- I saw stuff that would go for 20 bucks elsewhere for 3-5 dollars here. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable as well, and was happy to point me towards other shops that stock specific styles I was looking for. There's a listening station too, which is always a good touch. Make this your first stop if you're coming from out of town read more

I'm torn between keeping this gem to myself and spreading the word, but here it is: I can't say enough good things about this store. I grew up in Frederick back when the only quasi-consistent place to buy records was the Record & Tape on the Golden Mile (there were other places that came & went). That was great for what it was: bargain-bin digging, but what Chris has going on here is an honest-to-God RECORD STORE. The selection is fantastic, especially for classic rock as well as 90's indie rock and emo. The prices can't be beat (seriously), and Chris is just a seriously good dude who is always down to talk about any record in the store and help you find what you need. I've found several of the "white whales" of my collection here, plus a ton of stuff I didn't even know I was looking for. I try to visit anytime I'm visiting my folks. Only drawback is that his hours are a little inconsistent, so check the Rock & Roll Graveyard facebook before you go. read more

My goto place for vinyl in Frederick. Lots of titles, super clean and moderately priced. New titles often, lots of rap and rock titles. Owner is super nice and he also sells and repairs vintage equipment. Bought a turntable from there, works and plays great. Highly recommended is you are searching for hard to. Find vinyl, tapes and 8 tracks! read more

I made a point to check out R&R Graveyard after coming out to Frederick for a late morning Keys game, and man, am I glad I did. This is an "old school" basement store, like the head shops/record stores I used to visit in the 70s. I love it. I just wish I had more time to see just what was in stock. And Chris? A seriously good dude. He stopped what he was doing, just to help me find something interesting, as a blind purchase. Then we chatted for like ten minutes. Great prices. Nice variety. I plan on taking my next drive to Frederick, just to go digging. Totally worth the trip. read more

This is a really solid unpretentious record store with good prices. The fact that I found two Tom Waits albums in decent condition for $10 a piece means that I can't give it anything less than 5 stars. When you put together Rock & Roll Graveyard, Vinyl Acres, The Record Exchange, and Wonder Books, Frederick MD becomes a great day trip from DC to spend a day crate digging. read more

This place is great! Nice selection with a friendly owner. Records are actually organized in alphabetical order. I'm not lying! I know, I almost fell over dead on the floor too. read more

This place has it all! Atmosphere, a friendly and music savvy owner, great prices, varied selection. You would almost miss the store if you weren't looking for it nestled in the lower section of the street. I've gotten most of my best vinyl at bargain prices from the shop. Even if you can't drop some skrill on a few tracks, just chat the owner, Chris, up for a few...the man has some incredible stories! He's remarkably handy with equipment too, we bought a beautiful turntable that he restored for pennies on the dollar. read more

I've been back since and noticed the prices were much lower. Not sure what happened but definitely a great spot. Prices are good and selection is fantastic. The owner is super friendly and always a pleasure when I walk in. read more

Great selection. Low prices. Knowledgeable staff. What more could you want?

Chris is so friendly and helpful. Great selection and even better prices. I hate to yelp this because I wanna keep this place a secret but thought it'd be better to give a shout-out to a great find! read more

This is a wonderful place! The proprietor Chris is knowledgeable and friendly, and has quite a bit of pre digital equipment to which you can hook up a turntable! A paradise for active collectors or just a trip down memory lane. 4 track, 8 track casettes and cd's too! I highly recommend this place! read more

It took me way too long to find out this place was awesome. My first time in was filled with finding records I had been searching for since I started going to record stores. The music being played by the owner was great as well. And after talking to him, you want to come back for how great of a person he is. His knowledge of music and everything related to it is huge! So be sure to make a stop in and talk to the owner as well! read more

Went to this record store yesterday and I was very impressed. All the records are in great condition. If you don't mind spending some time in there you can really find some gems. The owner is really cool and laid back. I drove over an hour to go here and will definitely return. Overall, a great record shop. read more

For those of you looking for a quick review....YES, definitely make this a stop on your tour of Frederick!!!! You will find AT LEAST 5 records in GREAT condition you want to add to your collection! For those with a little more reading time....hands down the best record store I've been in...for a few reasons... Great selection; found some unique albums...records are in great condition...really the best I've seen of all the record shops I've been in...prices are very, very fair and reasonable. Spent a little time chatting with Chris the owner and fell a little bit in love. Young guy, under 30...been collecting records since he was 13....seems to take great pride in his work and providing great products to his customers...very passionate and honest....I was visiting from Florida when I stumbled upon Chris's shop, and I cannot wait to go back!!!! read more

Great old school tiny basement record shop with a fantastic collection, a weird, hyper knowledgeable owner, a giant pile of well organized records, a stacks section that doesn't suck. Prices are reasonable. If it's mint and collectable, expect to pay more. If it's beat down and playable (how i like my records) then it's cheap. Buy lots! Keep this shop around. read more

The fact that a place like this still exists gives me the urge to go on. I love the aesthetic of this place, secretly nestled below street level, the music from inside enticing you like a siren calling sailors to the rocks and speaking of rocks...this place is does just that. The guy who runs the shop is very friendly and extremely passionate about music. You could easily spend hours in this store talking music or browsing the wide collection of albums on sale. From vinyls to CDs to cassettes, this store has got it all. I was happy to see relatively smaller bands in this store, especially in the bargain section for $1! I walked out with about seven albums for a little under $30. Believe me, I could've gone bankrupt in this store. The listening area they have is also a nice, almost nostalgic, feature. I can picture myself going back here again and again not just because of the great selection and prices, but because I want to give this business the most support I can! read more
