The $250 bike fit was not worth it. Here are my critiques: A. The diagram of results I received was confusing and incorrect. First, the labeling of saddle height was incorrect. It showed a purely Y coordinate on the diagram. Second, (this is a less obvious but still important issue) the measurement from tip of saddle to shifter trough is error-prone. By this I mean: maybe I do it one way, maybe you do it another. I looked around my hoods and there was nothing obvious to pinpoint, given the curvature of the area. A photo and specific written instruction might help. I couldn't find any online usage of the term to clarify. Here's my suggestion: to optimize for customer experience, it would be much better to use the same shift levers as the customer (Ultegra levers are super common) and give a clearer label, such as: "distance from saddle tip to closest part of the shifter hood" B. I was disappointed that the results were not printed out right away as I walked out of the shop. Worse, there was a 3 day delay before I received the write-up. C. I expected a more thorough fit. For example: - Andres didn't measure my feet or look at my cleats until I asked. - He didn't measure leg length. - He didn't measure my arms or shoulders. D. I think some aspects of the fit were dubious. For example, Andres told me that a higher speed/cadence in a particular position is a valid way to claim that one position is better than another. Here's how I understand it: when using a bike ergometer set to a particular wattage, power is power. A higher or lower cadence (say 75 versus 80) is not a valid way to say one position is better than another. (To put it another way, rotational power equals torque times revolutions per minute. When using a constant-power setting on an ergometer, if I'm spinning 5% faster, I'm also applying 5% less torque.) Overall, this has not been a satisfying experience given the $250 price and delays. While I generally appreciate Andres' expertise, time, and effort, this was not a $250 bike fit. It was worth about half of that, at most. I shared this feedback with Andres in August 2019, but he has not yet responded. So I'm posting here in the hopes that other potential customers can either (a) get a better fit elsewhere or (b) Andres can improve the value of his bike fit. read more

This review is purely based on customer service that Andreas delivered on. No actual purchase was made. Was in the market for a road frameset and Andreas helped me all the way through making extra time to provide me with options, pictures and willingness to hear. I have been at enough bike shops to differentiate between good and poor customer service and this shop definitely come out on the positive side. Unfortunately, the color scheme I was looking for was not available and hence had to go a different route but wouldn't hesitate to work with Andreas in the future if the opportunity arose. read more

Major thumbs up to Beyond Aero! I needed a new cassette installed on my wheel and as I'm in SFO from out of town I didn't have the necessary tools with me to do the job. I decided to head over to Beyond Aero. While Adam, the mechanic, was installing the cassette he noticed something out of whack with my bottom bracket/crank and asked if I had a few minutes for him to take a look at it. I had been having issues with the BB/crank ever since getting my bike at the beginning of the season and my local shop had been struggling to solve my issues. After taking everything apart he found 5 issues with the setup and fixed them all. My bike is now riding better than ever. Thanks guys! read more

First and foremost the shop is beautiful, full of super high end bikes and accessories. I met with Andres to do a static fit on a Sworks Tarmac that I bought last week in Craigslist. The fit wasn't too off just needed a few tweaks and a well suggested shorter Zipp stem. Andres gets the fact that a long term relationship makes sense for both of us especially in a high level place like this. Great shop, highly recommended! read more

Love the store, very inviting. Andres knows what he's doing. Very awesome guy. I dropped my bike off for him to install the Garmin 510 and cage bottle. He nailed it. Fantastic local shop if you need high-end service, supplies, or parts. I've been watching this store get built up for a while as it sits right on my way home from work. As soon as it opened I was eager to take a look. Andres and the other employees were incredibly friendly, even remembering me by name when I stopped by a second time. Make no mistake, this is NOT performance bicycle or REI--If you want a Ulock try a different local shop (please not performance...) HOWEVER if you need your racing steed tuned, or want the newest aero gear, this is your place! Again, the biggest plus is the staff. Knowledgeable and nice is sometimes hard to come by in high-performance shops. I brought my cyclocross bike over last weekend for a bit of a tune (45 minutes after closing I might add) and they were able to turn it around in under a week for about $30 less than was quoted for other shops! My only critique is that it's hard to walk out of here with anything less than $100, but again, this is catered towards high-performance (mostly Triathlon+TT) items. Beautiful space, nice people. Andres knows his stuff about bikes and how to run a shop. Dropped off my bike here to get it tuned up and back in quiet working order. Got it back looking fresh and clean, riding like it was straight off the show room floor. Super good guys and wish him the best with the shop. Helps that I knew him before the shop opened, but he has a dedicated customer from me now. Highly suggest it if you are looking for anything bike related. Andres will take his time with you and get to know you as a person rather than a credit card holder. Come and stop by and say hi to him and get a beer or coffee at the little shop behind the store. I brought some problematic Bont Shoes into the shop which I'd bought somewhere else and I got a lot of attention. The shop is great -- worth the visit for the eye candy if nothing else. Boardman, Canyon, EE brakes, and a Dash saddle which is a weightweenie work of art... these aren't brands you often see. I've not had any work done here so I can't speak to that. read more

A friend told me that on bike exchange website that aero bikes had a cervelo r5 etap bike for 3000.00. hard to believe, so I checked it out..sure enough!! that is what it says on bike exchange!! etap and even zipp wheels, just sent a message and Andre said..that is for just frame and fork??? Really? so why do you advertise it with the whole set up? mmmm scam?? bait and switch maybe? 125942059 is the item number on the ad and everything...not listed as just frame and fork...beware!!!! read more

If you value good customer service and and being treated fairly then stay away for Beyond Aero and the owner Andres. My experience dealing with Andres has been just plain out horrible. I can write a novel about dealing with this guy but he is simply not worth it. A couple of simple points that will hopefully help you not make the mistake I did by going to this bike shop. His bike fitting service is sub par compared to other places. What you will end up with is 30-45 min of lame service, a mediocre bike fit, and a suggestion to change/ buy new bike parts so that he can install them for you for $300. He even recommended that I take off my $1,100 crank and replace it with a $175 one so that the fit can be better. Typical add on service. You can get a better fit for less money at Sports Basement and if you want a real professional bike fit for the same $250 go to http://3dbikefit.com/ in San Francisco. If you do end up making the mistake of taking your bike for service to this shop you will end up waiting for your bike to be completed for weeks. Andres is simply not accommodating to customer needs. Also, make sure you are clear what the charges will be. After agreeing to do work on my bike for $200 he wanted to charge me close to double that after he completed the work. Please stay away from this bike shop and take your business elsewhere. I certainly will. There are so many other bike shops out there that will be happy to work with you and who treat their customers well - not like cash cows. read more

First off, this is my first ever Yelp review. Beyond Aero has perfected the art of customer service. I have been to the shop about 4-5 times for a few items (getting my tri bike fitted, minor maintenance on my bike, picking up supplies, having maintenance done on my daughter's kid bike). What I really love about this shop is that Andres and Susan really make you feel valued - Andres emailed to a few days after my bike fitting to make sure everything felt great. My husband stopped by the shop to pick up a water holder and the shop was out. As soon as the water holders were in stock, Andres emailed to let us know we could pick one up. But the real icing on the cake for me is, after doing the Oakland Triathlon (which had a lot of potholes), I thought I had cracked my carbon frame....I immediately emailed Andres to see when I could stop by...and he responded within minutes telling me to stop by immediately, even though they had just closed! It turned out my frame was okay, but it was amazing to have a local bike shop that will support their customers like this. Oh yeah, and I find the pricing on everything to be more than reasonable! We love Andres and his staff. He always makes time to chat and find the best solution for our bikes--he got my wife's Cervelo P3 in like-new condition for her Ironman last November. He also did such a good job on my Cervelo S3 fit a couple of seasons ago that I have had zero issues with my back and knee since then. This shop is the epitome of personalized, careful service. If you love your bike, love to ride, and love to feel remembered at a mom-and-pop bike shop, do yourself a favor and spend the money to get it done right the first time around. read more

If you ever raced hard, you know that euro-pro isn't just a pose: on the bike, it's knowing that everything is just right and smooth, the only thing holding you back is the pain creeping up your legs, not the machine. I stopped in to check out Beyond Aero, as they've been in my neighborhood for around a year and I've never been in. Andres and Nolan were welcoming, and they readily answered the two questions I had even though they were in the midst of other tasks. Nolan answered one of my questions by putting my bike on the stand and doing some quick diagnostics...way more than I asked for. In my brief experience, Beyond Aero reminds me of Wheelsmith of Palo Alto in its glory days (that would be the late '70s/early '80s). That's a good thing. I'll be back. read more

I was super psyched when I saw a new bike shop was opening so close to my place, and I was eager to go and check the place out when they first opened. After stepping into the place for the first time I saw that this was a business run by someone who is really passionate about cycling and understands how to put together a stylish shop. Andres, the owner, and his wife introduced themselves and I told them how excited I was to come check the place out. We got to talking for a while and I realized that this place was going to quickly become my favorite bike shop. I mentioned how I was interested in some custom length Speedplay pedals and Andres didn't hesitate to shoot off an email to Speedplay and answer all my questions about the costs and benefits of ordering the custom pedals. I decided to place the order and afterwards he kept me well informed via email of the process and when I could expect to pick up the pedals at the shop. I've since gone back numerous times to pick up some tires, Skratch, and just talk cycling. Currently, I'm testing out some Bont demo shoes and again was really glad to have Andres explain what I could expect from the shoes and whether they would be the right choice for me. This place is a great shop for any serious cyclist or triathlete, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for all your cycling needs. read more

Andres' efficient and friendly service has made me more excited to start riding seriously. I had just bought a used performance bike and needed compatible cleats for my shoes. Andres had the cleats in stock, installed them, replaced the pedals on the bike for free, and spontaneously gave me advice on DIY maintenance. A small job, but Andres went the extra mile and didn't try to upsell me, which another shop might have done. I plan to return for routine maintenance. read more

I had a horrible experience at Beyond Aero. I came to Beyond Aero initially for a TT bike fit for a Cervelo P5 I'd recently purchased. I was super excited to upgrade my race wheels and excited to be fitted at Beyond Aero because I'd heard such great things about the shop and the service. Unfortunately, things weren't what I expected. The owner Andres was so incredibly uninterested in well, most everything it seemed. He showed no enthusiasm during my fitting and the entire time it seemed like he had better things to do. It certainly seemed like he was just going through the motions. Over the next several weeks things got worse from there. When I asked if the bike could be ready a full week before I needed it, I was told by Andres that he wouldn't be able to have the bike ready. Really? To make things even worse when I went to pick up my bike he'd taken the bike apart and wanted to return the bike to me in that condition -- not the condition that I brought it to him in. However, as a small business I decided to give Beyond Aero another chance and asked them to put together the new bike that I'd purchased and reassemble the P5. We agreed on $200 for the work for both bikes. When it was all said and done though Andres claimed that I owed $337 total! NOT what we'd agreed to! This experience has left a horrible taste in my mouth. Andres was not honest with me when he quoted me what the work for my bikes would cost. I tried to support Beyond Aero and wanted to continue to bring my business to the shop. He must not need my business though because I was told, upon picking up my bike, that it would be best if I didn't come back. So much for me ever bringing my equipment to Beyond Aero ever again! At $200 for a bike fitting and $95/HOUR for bike labor, I highly recommend that anyone thinking about bringing their bike here for servicing save themselves the irritation of dealing with Andres and Beyond Areo and take their business elsewhere. read more

Fantastic place. I brought my bike in for a tune up having never heard of the shop before. I wondered how a place gets nothing but five star reviews on yelp. After picking up my bike it was clear - they provide seven-star customer service. I got honest advice here and wasn't pushed to buy things I didn't need. This was my first experience with a high performance bicycle. I researched online endlessly and called around to bike shops in the 50 mile vicinity. I realized I had two choices, buy online or find an expert. The other bike shops didn't have experts so I almost just bought online. Then I came across Beyond Aero. Here is the basic download. Andres is an expert. He put my bike together to fit me and gave me all the pricing options to fit my budget. Admittedly I spent more than I had in mind but it was worth it.
