After hearing about Will from many friends, it was time to give him a try. In short, why did I wait so long? The minute he arrived, I recognized him from days dealing with R&A cycles in Walnut Creek. I was instantly relieved because I had nothing but great experiences with him when he worked at that shop. However, now that he's freelancing AND mobile, I'm much happier! I knew a few things that needed to be done on my bike but Will identified a few other minor fixes that got my bike back to "as new". He figured out my rear drive-side bearing was shot, the seat post clamp had some grit in it, causing creaks, and the sealant was low in both tires. Awesome! He also serviced my Ceramic Speed bottom bracket, replaced the front chainring, and fixed a warp in the rear rotor. It's fitting that the guy who built my bike when it was new got it back to "as new" again - and the cost was absolutely a deal. In conclusion, I trust and highly recommend Willem to work on any bike and have called him for repeat service. Background: I keep up with general maintenance my bikes, but I needed a little extra help with tuning them after years of wear and Willem answered the call and went above and beyond. Not to mention the fact that this is a mobile bike service that is less expensive than the bike shops. I have three different types of bikes that just didn't ride like they used to. I have tried taking them to multiple bike shops and it has been a waste of resources to do so. Historically, I would get the bikes back from the shop and new issues would arise after a couple rides. Repairs: Glory 1 (DH): Issues resolved: Both tires were flat, the rear derailleur had issues with certain gears, and the hydraulic breaks were not functioning properly. The ask: I asked Willem to repair tires and look over the the rear derailleur. Not only did he easily fix the first two issues, he identified and repaired the break issue. Cannondale Six13 (road): Issues resolved: Derailleurs would not go into certain gears, the rims were not true, incorrect installation of cables, and the tires needed to be repaired. The ask: I asked to fix the derailleurs and tires, but Willem again identified other issues: untrue rims and the incorrect installation of cables/ derailleur. He spent the time to go over this bike and make it feel better than it has in the past five years. I took the bike to a shop to install new cables/ derailleur and perform a tune up a couple months ago. After Willem repaired the bike, he asked me if I ever had the cables replaced. I informed him that a bike shop did earlier and Willem showed me what happened to the cables and the derailleur. It was clear to me that the bike shop did not install nor manage the cables and derailleurs correctly. Ibis Mojo (XC): Issues resolved: Crank bros dropper post started twisting and both derailleurs needed some tuning. The ask: I asked to repair the dropper post. Willem was the one that identified the shifting issue and fine tuned the derailleurs for me. I remembered shifting being a bit delayed, but now the shift is instant and feels great. He could not repair the dropper post because the design does not allow for the addition of air and the twisting is due to a joint that has been damaged beyond repair. After the service Willem identified different seat post options within my price range and even identified used seat posts that are easily rebuilt to feel like new. I have been searching for a technician to go the extra mile to identify and repair these issues and I finally found that technician in Willem. I was in the market to replace the bikes because they just didn't feel the same as they did earlier on in their life. I even went as far as listing them on Craigslist, but after he repaired all the issues, I didn't repost the listing and really enjoy riding all of them again. Fixing the shifting issues with all the bikes, identifying the break issue with the Glory, truing the wheels on the Six13, and taking extra time after the repair to find used dropper posts that would fit my bike is why I will call on no one else to work on my bikes again as well as why I HIGHLY recommend Tasty Cycle to all of my friends and family.
