I was next door at Outdoor Supply Hardware and saw this place. Being an owner of 2 Treks, a 520 road bike and an older street bike I decided to take a look. Well they no longer have any bikes I was familiar with anymore. I guess trending towards the masses. Electric bikes, commuter bikes, gravel etc. I think Trek still makes a hard core road bike I just didn't see one on the floor. Lets face it with a longer wheel base they aren't the best for around town. I thought there would be more accessories not that I was looking for anything in particular but just seemed a little anemic in that catagory. They did have a full blown shoe and pedal area though. Full on repair assembly area looked ready for anything. I talked to a sales dude and he was very knowledgable and a tech guy who totally knew his stuff. So, half way impressed when peeps in a position to know their shit actually do more than me. If I were in the market for another bike or get an older one whipped into shape I would definitely give these folks a hard look. read more

Fantastic dealer. If you're buying a Trek, buy it here, you will not regret it. The staff here really take the time to listen to what you want and ensure that you get the proper bike for your needs. Zero pressure to buy anything, they will set the bike up any way you want for your test ride and really go out of their way to make sure it's perfect before you take it for a spin. I had an esoteric problem with a sound on my Trek and Matthew M spend a few hours debugging the issue weeding one factor after the other. Boy, he was so patient, intuitive, and methodical. Two other good Bike shops took a swipe at the noise and gave up after a few attempts. I have rarely met someone so dedicated and detail-oriented with bicycles. In Covid times finding a bike rack is like finding gold. This store happily sold me a floor model of a rack and gave me a discount since it didn't come with a box or instructions. I initially called and Ella was so kind - she went above and beyond and offered me the floor model. I had been looking for a rack for weeks online and in stores in the East Bay. When I arrived at the store, Scout greeted me and the staff was knowledgeable, down to earth, and friendly. After I purchased I installed the rack on my car in my parking spot. I had an issue figuring it out and Scout came out to check on me! Unbelievable! She helped me figure it out. I told her that there was a missing bolt and she sent Robert, her manager, out to my car. Sorted. I couldn't be happier with their their team and their attention to customer service. Please support businesses like this that give a damn about people. I got amazing service when I visited here recently. I had no clue which brand or model of road bike I wanted to buy and my conversations with the guy I spoke to here convinced me to get a Trek bike. He also had me sit on a couple bikes and helped me determine the right size for me. Other bike shops in the area only spent a couple minutes talking to me about what bike would be right for me, but the guy at Trek spoke with me for at least 20 minutes. They ended up not having the size and model I wanted, so I bought my bike elsewhere, but my visit here helped me figure out which bike was right for me. read more

Was a great experience! The Berkeley Trek store was superb. Extremely clean, detailed, and functional. I was in the market for a new Enduro race bike and had my heart was set on a 2021 Trek Slash 9.8 XT build in size ML. I had been searching for weeks with no luck. The Berkeley Trek store was the only place in a 1000 mile radius that had one in stock. I called the store 4/14/2021 to make sure they had the bike and to see if they could ship it down to San Diego. Unfortunately they were unable to do so but said they would pull the bike off of the showroom and put it in the back of the store and hold it for me until Sunday, 4/18/2021. Neil and Lilly is who I spoke with, and they were great to work with. Neil sent me some pictures of the bike before I made the drive up. I drove up to the store Saturday, 4/17/2021 (6.5 hr drive one way) to purchase the bike. Upon arriving at the Trek store, I took the bike around the block for a quick test ride and was instantly sold. Lilly is who helped get me dialed in and checked out. Easiest and most stress free "big purchase" I have ever made. 11/10 on the whole experience. Thank you guys for making such bad ass bikes and having great employees who take pride in their work and are very knowledgeable and helpful. You've got a customer for life! I had an issue on my mountain bike which a couple of friends thought it was the derailleur. I gave them a call to see if I can swing by on my lunch break since I only work a couple blocks away. The guy one the phone says the assessment is free and they will go from there. I took the bike in and they were able to resolve the issue within minutes of first touching the bike. I initially thought they were going to turn me away since I have a low end Walmart bike. Don't let it stop you from visiting these guys. I will definitely come back to them in the future if I need anything else. read more

With the COVID-19 pandemic, it's hard to get into many of the bike shops. Trek in Berkeley has been great. I called to make an appointment, and the guy on the phone was super nice and helpful. Then when I got to the store the following weekend, I was surprised at how even nicer the salesperson was who took care of me. Robert was super knowledgable, helpful, and patient, even when I had questions about my bike, which I bought from a different store. He didn't do the hard sell and made me feel completely comfortable, even though I'm a novice rider and could've been easily snowed by a less reputable seller. I highly recommend Trek and Robert. They seem to be true bike lovers and helpful to bike riders of all levels. read more

I must say these people are professionals. I came there to specifically purchase a kit stand for my bike. The guy with the long beard to the extra time to find out if it's compatible for my Trek Marlin 7. Unfortunately it wasn't but for him to take the time means a lot to me as a customer. Their business is not in it to make money but to ensure their customer gets the right product they need. Now that's HONEST. I'll routinely be going there on Sunday after church just to check things out. As for the store they have a wide variety of bicycle selections, accessories and clothings. It is such a pleasure to come into this store and get repairs done on the bike. I say this as someone who generally does not associate getting a bike fixed with "great experience"--maybe others share this dissociation. I've had three fantastic experiences in the back of Trek where they do repairs. The first was when a very thorough mechanic named Tyler dissected the front and rear hubs of my Mavic wheels and put in new ceramic bearings. He did just as much as he needed to do and no more in order to keep the price down for me. I returned a second time two weeks later to investigate why the rear hub still seemed sluggish. A talented mechanic named Hawk spent at least an hour and a half doing a thorough assessment of the simpler possible causes for sluggishness: grimy drive train, overly tensed skewer, rogue chain link, and rear derailleur issues. In the process, she painstakingly cleaned and relubed my bike chain, pulley wheels, cogs, and front rings. For not a single part of this did she charge me, since she said it was continuing the first job Tyler had done before. In the end, the bike ran much more smoothly. Hawk also did a stellar job of putting in a new spacer in my headset so that it wouldn't rattle anymore and securing it with lock tight. A third time I came back for a major gear adjustment and, as usual, there was zero wait time and a fast turnover of the bike, as well as a very fair price for the job. I love the way Trek not only guarantees that repairs will be done within 24 hours, but they let you watch the repairs take place. They have no ego, are super friendly, and are very generous with sharing information so that you could do the job yourself next time. This is my new go-to place in the area for all things bike. read more
