My bike fell over and my front brake was making a horrible sound. I took my bike to the berkeley rad store and they quoted me $130 to look at it and it would take a couple weeks to get to my bike. I took it across the street to the other shop and they took a quick look made a small adjustment and fixed it on the spot the entire process took less then 30 seconds on top of all that the guy refused any payment for somthing that was so simple. You guys need to do much better for the people that supported your business. I got my rad bike about 6 months ago. read more

Test road a couple of different models. Bottom line is employees seemed completely disinterested and not knowledgeable. When I asked questions their response was either "maybe" or "not sure" or "no". I explained my specific concerns with the bikes that I test rode and asked if there were any modifications I could make to the handlebars or stem to make the geometry suit me better. They were not knowledgeable at all about which parts could be swapped out. In the end they just seemed completely uninterested in making a sale. The experience was like shopping for a bike at a big box store like Walmart. Very disappointing. I have owned a rad bike for 10 years and was looking to upgrade to a new one, but the experience at the Berkeley store resulted in me purchasing a different brand of electric bike. read more

I was having an issue with my bike. The controller ended up being the issue. There was one guy working and there was another customer. The guy was able to help us both and fixed my bike it literally five minutes. Great service! These are the things that make me want to continue to support Rad Bikes. I went in for service as my headlamp stopped working. The guys were super helpful and really handy. The wire to the headlamp had broken off (probably damaged when I folded and transported it) and they were able to salvage it by replacing the connector cable and pulling out a part that was stuck in the connecting cable. The two guys who were helping me were really friendly and I was in and out in 15 min. One of the guys also gave me advice on rear kids seats since I had mentioned it in our conversation. I went in today, excited to go to the showroom, because I had some questions but mainly because I was looking to buy a rack for my bike. Unfortunately, it really seems the sales people have no idea what they're talking about... at least the gal I talked to didn't. I have the previous model of Rad Rover Step Thru (Rad Rover Step Thru 1) and was looking to buy a rear rack. She told me that would be a legacy rack, not the current model of rear rack. "Ok, do you have any of those?" "No." (Pretty disappointing because that was the main reason I drove the 45 min today.) "Ok, I'm assuming I can order one online, right?" "No. You can't get those anymore." "That's it? You just can't get those anymore?!" "Yeah, sorry." Wait... I just bought a $1700 bike a little over a year ago and the rack that goes on that bike "you can't get anymore"??? WTF? Hell, they even had an identical model to mine in the showroom on sale! Dejected, I went home and thought I should still look online just to make sure. I selected my bike model and lo' and behold, the rack is available for purchase AND IT'S THE SAME STANDARD REAR RACK FOR ALL RAD ROVER MODELS! Meaning, if they had any of the racks in stock (don't know if they did or not since we wasted our time talking about a nonexistent "legacy" rack) I could've had it on my bike by this afternoon, when I needed it for a specific reason. Rad Runner 2 - Safety Hazard - Brakes Stop Working. Hello All: please be very careful when purchasing a Rad Bike. We bought a brand new out-of-the-box Rad Runner 2 for our 16-year-old daughter to ride from school to home, to sports, etc. We are only 2 miles from her school, so it's way more convenient for her than a car. Unfortunately, the darn bike is for crap. The nuts and bolts come loose every other week; the brakes have failed multiple times. Since we purchased it in August, I've had to adjust the brakes once every other week. The rear brakes do not work; the front brakes are so touchy that if you hit them hard enough, they will lock up the entire wheel. It pisses me off that we paid for a brand-new bike that is a massive pile of crap. The bike is one significant pain in the rear. Then, to top it all off, I went to the Rad Power Bikes Facebook page to message them about the issue. I told them about how my daughter's brakes keep failing, and then they messaged me back with, "Please ensure your daughter is 16 years of age or older, and to please email support." I did that on Sunday. Four days went by, and I heard nothing. I jump on the Rad Power Bikes website and click on support; the chatbot agent comes on, hears my issue, and then leaves the chat. I finally have a live person, and they tell me to take the bike to a service shop. The darn brakes do not work, and the nuts and bolts keep falling off; how do they expect me to get it to a shop when the darn thing isn't safe to ride? I asked if they could send someone to our house, and the lady just left the chat. Oh, Rad, you all aren't very "Rad." Should I sell this lemon? E-bike lovers and newcomers rejoice! You have to head over to Rad Power Bikes and test ride some of their innovative e-bikes. It's a blast! When I walked into their new store with my friend, we were warmly greeted by a knowledgeable team member who helped us learn more about the RadMission 1 e-bike. We received a detailed overview of all the Rad Power e-bike models and differences which was very informative. Next, we proceeded outside to the test ride area with eager grins. After a quick waiver and operation demo, my friend and I were rolling around the neighborhood on new Rad Power e-bikes. Yeeehawww! If you haven't ridden an e-bike before, you're in for a treat. The pedal assist was smooth and the throttle was easy to operate on the RadMission 1. It's super quick, quiet, and comfortable. Too much fun! We purchased two step through e-bikes they are rugged heavy duty bikes that we have ridden in the beach and on reservoirs dirt unpaid roads and they are awesome. We ride them daily and live them. The only thing I would say is that we purchased in 2021 our the batteries are quirky the fuses blow oven and have to be replaced it's something with the how they are charged I can't figure out why. We also have two other brands of e-bikes and don't have this problem. I will say that the service at Rad is awesome they don't charge us anything to replace the fuses. I had to wait for 2 weeks to get an appointment to service my Rad Mission bike. I was to drop it off on the 17th and pick-up on the 20th. I confirmed the pick-up date when I dropped it off. On the 21st, after a 1-1/2 hour bus ride to the Rad Bike store, I was told to wait while one employee (apparently alone) demonstrated someone how to operate their new bike. Without asking why I was there, the employee said two people were ahead of me. I waited about 10-20 minutes before I was asked what I was there for. At that point I was directed to the service person who spent another 5 minutes or so searching for my bike. Service person then approached me and said sorry, the bike was not ready. I asked that person why I wasn't notified about the delay (he didn't know), and I complained that I then had to take the bus back home - that is a 3 hours wasted round trip. His offer to finish servicing the bike (taking an hour?) was an unacceptable. Considering the circumstances, I feared the job would be rushed and I couldn't see myself waiting there for at least an hour. In the meantime the store had a number of other customers coming in, each having to wait their turn. One front staff person and apparently only one service person - I left in disgust. read more

We purchased 12 bikes for a special district near Willits. It took a couple extra days for all of them to be assembled and tested. When we arrived to pick them up, staff did all of the work. The bikes were put into a moving truck securely and with enough padding that they arrived safely and without scratches. The bikes were all outfitted as ordered. All of them are working well and we haven't had any issues. We purchased 5 Rad Wagon 4 and 7 Rad Rover 6 Plus. The area we ride them is full of hills and windy roads. So far, braking and tires are wearing as expected. Battery life is adequate and charging easy. We're enjoying them and would recommend them to folks researching a potential e-bike purchase. read more

The name says is all. Rad. As a goofy kid who was a freestyle rider in the 80s, "rad" not only became my middle name (for realsies -- questionable parenting at work), but also the title of an a particularly awesome movie about a kid who "just wants to ride, mom!" On a more serious note, while I have no doubt the staff in Berkeley is awesome, this is a review of my Rad Rover 6 Plus. I ordered it online, and the price point was absurdly attractive. With a veterans discount thrown in (thank you, Rad), this marvel of engineering cost less than most decent mountain bikes. I have now put about 1,000 miles on my bike and tortured it beyond belief. It has been through shin deep mud for miles, crossed many streams, and been battered in two wipeouts (user error, of course). The beast just keeps going and going. The range is perfect for my needs, the brakes are solid, the suspension is perfectly good, and the pedal assist is actually incredibly graceful. The shifter is the same as on every other e-bike these days (not great), but at the price point, the value is mind-blowing. My Rad Rover was my best purchase of 2022, hands down. I've had an incredible amount of fun on it, and if my brace-faced freestylin' 10 year-old self could have imagined a ride like this, I would have lost my mind. read more

Took my 2+ yrs ebike for tune up for the first time. With over 2500 miles, they were shock how much I did without any major problem. The reason I was in today because I have minor sticky right hand break. Anticipate I may need to pay extra to fix the brake on top of the tuneup cost, it ended up the service fix the brake problem for free. I just need to pay a Basic Tuneup cost of $100. The service department was friendly and fast. Got my bike back within 2 hours window. They could keep bike overnight if you want to a drop off service and pickup next day. After years of owning one bike, and purchase new one recently, one thing it's true in my case, Rad Power's e-bikes are worthy the high price. It's a well made, sturdy and dependable bikes. Their customer services in both online and store front are excellent. I have nothing but very good experiences with this company. read more

Game changer. Let me preface this by saying this is my first electric bike I have owned, but not the first I have ridden. Also, want to clarify that I am reviewing two services here. The first is the RadPower bikes themselves and the second is my experience in their physical store in Berkeley. For those that don't know, RadPower started as an online reseller of their electric bikes and then eventually started opening up a few stores (Berkeley and San Diego). So first, the bikes themselves. I am an engineer at heart, I can appreciate well engineered products, this ticks the box and then some. A lot of thought went into their design and material choices. They are not only beautiful bikes but fun to ride (and powerful). We got two of the Rovers and one do the Runners. The runner is my daughter's and she absolutely loves it. She did 20 miles on it in a few days. The bikes themselves are in the middle of the price range for these types of bikes (they do go on sale occasionally ), but you get a lot for your money. And most importantly, as the company name implies, you get enough power to be very comfortable knowing it can handle taking you where you want to go. We live in the hills and have no problem getting up and down with the bikes. For the review of the store. My experience was excellent. They have free rest rides, which is what sold us. The pricing of the accessories is very fair. You cannot get it cheaper on Amazon. The staff was very knowledgeable and flexible. They had us in and out very quickly. So a couple of notes. Weekends are crazy in there as everyone is curious to learn about their products. So if you can go in during the week, you can get in and out faster. Another thing, it's pretty apparent they started as an online store and the in-person store was an afterthought. Corporate is pushing a lot of processes down from the online store that may have some challenges when implemented in the physical stores. For example, corporate offers a service where you can order your bike online and have it built and delivered from the store. The challenge there is the handoff between the website and physical store is not 100% smooth so details can lost in the transfer. That being said, Alison (store manager) and her team were super responsive and got it all cleared up super quick. I am personally very excited about the opportunity electric bikes offer, my rad bikes in particular, and feel very fortunate that RadPower decided to open one of their shops in berkeley (near where I live). We would have bought the bikes regardless, now we just have the convenience and confidence of knowing that we can deal with an empathetic human being in person if we have an issue. read more

*UPDATE* 4/8/2023 Direct messaged them like asked, no response. Another promise broken. Was told my bike would be fixed in March, 7 months after owning it and 16 miles on the bike. ANOTHER LIE. I revived an email, now I have to wait another 2 months at least. Now it's MAY 2023 SINCE AUGUSE 2022. No lender bikes, no help at all from anyone after spending $3k with this company. This company is absolute trash. I regret ever spending any money with them and will make sure no one I know buys from them. They are criminals. I don't want this bike anymore. I want nothing to do with them, but a brand new $3k bike that cannot be ridden is what I am stuck with. *UPDATE 3/11/2023* STILL no update, no contact from RAD and ZERO use of this bike. RAD has left my family with a death trap that we spent $3k on. We have not been called, no response containing any resolution. I have contacted an attorney and will force RAD to be held accountable. *UPDATE* Nothing to update, still cannot ride this bike at the direction of RAD. NOW OVER 6 months. This technology will be obsolete before RAD fixes their problem and I can ride the bike that costs as much as a car.* Avoid at all costs! This company is terrible to deal with and has no empathy for their customers when their own product is faulty and CAUSES INJURY OR DEATH! I purchased my Power Wagon on August 22 2022 to ride with my toddler and to commute to work. I rode it twice and was immediately told to stop riding it as there was an issue that could cause injury or death. They said there was a replacement part coming. After multiple emails back and forth asking for some type of timeline or refund"RAD" (this name is definitely not fitting to the customer service) told me, too bad! Can you believe that?? A bike that cost over $3k with add ons and I cannot ride or return it?! Now here we are almost March 2023 and still.. same message from their wonderful agent. Messages attached. The same cut and paste message I received 4 months before. Their resolution is for ME to have patience. 6 months is enough patience. They keep blaming the number of bikes they sold as the issue, sorry you made a ton of money off of us sucker customers. 8,000 bikes at about $3,000? So you made about $24,000,000 (yes, about $24 million) off of us and we need the patience? Wild, what a great company Avoid at all costs. There are far cheaper e-bikes out there, heck,any of them are better as you can actually ride them without warning they might kill you. All I want is to get rid of this, rode it twice. First off the service at the store is great and efficient. No worries there. However, keep in mind while the bikes have a 1 year warranty the parts and labor do not. I have just ordered my 2nd controller in less than a year and they are $160 each. With installation It will be around $300. Maybe this is just a teething issue with a new industry but new parts should always come with a warranty of at least a year. Last thing - please expand an store and service shop to the Peninsula! read more

Customer service A+ !! I brought my bike in today for a tire replacement and Alicia helped me through the process as well as my many questions about accessories. She helped me with the correct front bike rack for my specific model and is even ordering me items that were out of stock which I appreciate. She made my visit easy and positive- I really appreciate her going out of her way to help me. I'll definitely be visiting the store again for a rear car rack and more. Terrible. I'm working with a Rad Runner service specialist in SF for a new rear rim and motor. After 5 day they haven't heard from the parts department. I call Beirkeley and get the info that likely my shop won't hear from Rad for a week to 2 weeks and delivery is 7 to 10 days for the part when they hear. Berkeley has the part one service person said it's $299 another said it's $330 and when I called to make sure the part was there if I went to the shop, hour commute. That guy's says $440 and we'll put it on. Wtf an entire new bike is $1200. Seems like craigslist or Facebook market place for a used bike is the way to go. Retail, service and business operations are very overwhelming, and have difficultly prioritizing tasks. Visited retail store in Berkeley, and sales associates were busy selling features of the bike over customers ready to purchase. Inquires best way to transact, and sales associates helped incoming prospective customers for 25 mins. As a customer, I had to ask 3 times to purchase a bike. What was peculiar about the experience is that the sales associate acted as if I had just come into the store. For context, I have been in the store for about a half hour with my 3 year old son crawling over everything while waiting to purchase. The associate attempted to sell me the bike and provide information I didn't need. I had to take control of the process and get us to close the deal. I was told the bike would be ready for pickup the next day. Then on the way home, I purchased a 2nd bike. I've been on the phone with service, and attempted to escalate over the online channel - but yet to receive an update on status. The service associate was confused by the order not being in 'the thing' and informed me that their are 'actual customers in the store in front of him' and that he'd need to call back. I will amend rating if bikes are ready. read more

I had my Radpower 2 bike serviced including a brake maintenance. The service associate who checked my bike in @ the Berkeley store told me that if anything changed from the estimate, I would get notified and have a chance to approve or reject it. When I picked up my bike, however, the associate told me that my front disk was bent and they had already replaced it and charged me $30 plus tax and labor. I was not asked to approve this change. He said my disc was too bent to be trued. I asked to see the disc and he said it was thrown away! Why would they throw it away unless this was a lie? That was my disc that he threw away AND I had to pay for an unapproved repair! To make matters worse, he told me that none of the parts or labor was warrantied and confirmed that if I walked outside and the parts broke due to poor installation or manufacturing defects, RadPower would not be responsible for any of it. Why should I buy parts from them if they have no warranty? I can return parts to Amazon as a Prime customer. What's the point of buying from Rad? Well, that won't be an issue after this experience.
