I really like the bikes this shop carries, but the service reputation unfortunately proved true during my visit last weekend. Shoutout to Eugene for convincing me to spend my $15k somewhere else. I recently had a bike destroyed in a bike-car accident, so I went to RA planning to buy a helmet and potentially a new bike. When Eugene asked what brought me in, I told him I needed a helmet and was looking at bikes since mine had been destroyed. He laughed and asked if I was planning to just walk around wearing a helmet. After I explained the accident, he apologized. I mentioned I liked the Dogma X and said my budget was around $12-13k (I was realistically open to $15k). His response was: "That's out of your price range. Let's look at something cheaper." When I repeated that I liked the bike, he ignored it and moved on. Then he asked my bike size. I had just been professionally fitted at Innersport and was recommended a 49 frame. When I told him that, he laughed and said, "I'm sorry, but you're not a 49." When I told him I had just been fitted, he responded, "I can't imagine anyone recommending you a 49. I'm not entertaining that you're a 49." I had to pull up my fitting measurements before he reluctantly admitted I could "pass as a 49." The whole interaction was belittling and embarrassing. I've heard people describe the shop as having a "bro" culture that can feel unwelcoming, and that's exactly how this experience felt. In the end, I left without buying anything and instead went to Capdata in Concord, where I ordered a Factor Ostro VAM with SRAM Red, a helmet, and other gear. RA carries beautiful bikes, but if you're looking for respectful service, my experience suggests you may want to shop elsewhere. read more

My partner and I came in wanting to buy new bikes and the store was beautiful! We unfortunately left empty handed as we weren't acknowledged by any of the 3-4 employees in the store the entire time we were there. We had been to 3 different bike stores today and this by far had the worst customer service. There were plenty of staff to help- really hoping other POC don't get the same service. Great showroom overall and amazing quality of biking gear as well. read more

This is a phenomenal (and beautiful) store - it almost has an Apple Store vibe. But I am writing this review in regards to the bike fitting I just had there, with Tim. I had another bike fitting years ago in Seattle, which was great, which was why I wanted one for my new bike. But the experience here really blew me away - at a totally different level than my previous one. Tim is also an expert physical therapist, and it really shows in the fitting process. He evaluated my flexibility, strength, etc. etc. before even putting me on the bike. I am confident the plan for new parts and adjustments we made will make a huge difference. read more

Was recommended to this place from a friend in the east bay, I just received my new frame from Italy and wanted a professional Bike shop to assemble it. I worked before with Wrench Science in Oakland, but they changed their hours NOT open on Saturdays so I came here. Zac McDonald, was my contact and was quick to give me a couple of options on Drive-Train components. I knew what wanted in performance. So So happy when I picked up my Bike, came out perfect.. Professional and was so laid-back to deal with this shop. 5 STARS everyday...I RATE it.. read more

I was worried when I moved to the East Bay that I wasn't going to be able to find a good bike shop and then I found R and A Cycles. I won't mention any names as I'm sure I'm going to forget someone but everybody I have been in contact with has been very helpful. I was able to get a fitting done right before I ordered my custom Cervelo. They also do a great job servicing both my Cervelo and Pinarello. They also show a lot of patience as I asked many questions when ordering my bike. They also do a good job of never trying to sell you more bike then you need. I will definitely be buying another bike from R & A. read more

R&A Cycles is a great cycling shop. They have all the latest and greatest equipment, all the top and wheels frames and knowledgeable staff not to mention kits kits kits always a fun experience coming into the store read more

I used to be a customer here. I purchased 2 expensive bikes in the past. I don't mind if you're busy with services or short of staff. Schedule a bike assembly for a week from now? That's ok. Being rude and not showing any interest in my business I do mind. R&A it's not the only bike shop in the block. Show some customer service next time. No wonder the shop is empty. read more

These guys are amazing, I really can't say enough about the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. Special call out to Todd for his expertise and how incredibly helpful he has been with my request and sometimes odd projects. Another call out to Andy for always being so patient with me and my million questions he is always quick to send quotes and or research on parts and advice. Again really love this place! read more

Beautiful interior. High end bicycle shop that is much better known in New York City. Went there to pick up a jersey for a friend. Only issue could be parking, which is a little tight, behind the building. Right off the highway but away from the heart of Walnut Creek retail shopping. read more

Great service and top notch bike fitting. I bought a Cannondale road bike from Zac and had all my questions answered.

Zero support after the sale. Purchased a new Bianchi frame last month and get zero consideration on parts needed to make it work. Sending back the frame now and suggest that you do research before you pay their ridiculous prices. Just simply poor customer service and only concerned with that initial dollar versus forming a relationship read more

Update: Nov 21 2023 My Dogma F had fractures in the seat stay frame area. Gethyn was able to walk me through my options. I was desperate in getting my bike back and have something to ride during the Thanksgiving Holiday, Gethyn and Andy Knickerbocker was able to get me going while I wait for the warranty work from Pinarello. The thoughtfulness and care for a rider was what customers were looking for. Thank you R & A team, both Zacs as well. read more

I trusted them with my bike & to my surprise, they messed up in service. My bike was working well before, I had taken it to Mt Diablo too. I requested a guy to check everything as my century ride is coming up and he said we will degrease all, for which they charged me a good amount. On my century ride day, my smaller chain ring broke (and my bike was just 9 months old), I took my bike to another service shop and he showed me that they didn't put two bolts properly on a smaller chain ring. They messed my first-century ride experience and also cost me double the amount of fixing my new bike. It is a really bad shop with the good salesman and bad service folks. I will never recommend this shop to anyone. read more

Very "boutique-ie" vibe with several high-end road, gravel, and mountain bike brands, all stunningly displayed in a very large space...this isn't your typical LBS. Of course, they have an attached coffee shop, mechanics, and a fitting studio. read more

This is about Part 2 of my 2-part training bike build-up review! I've been aware of R&A for a couple of decades and when I heard they were coming to Walnut Creek I was understandably excited! So, in November I had Part 1 of my bike build-up! Things were moving slowly on my end as I was waiting for parts and based on the expert advice of the team at R&A Cycles, I was able to open a warranty claim which yielded new wheels for my bike! The level of care and communication when working with R&A is unparalleled which is why their service center is the best of the best! Today I picked up my bike and cannot describe how happy and proud I feel about it! Thanks R&A, especially Mike and Iggy, for putting together the Dream Machine! o7o' read more

R & A Cycles - Can't wait to ride my new Goomah! - Bikes Near Me - Walnut Creek, California

I wanted a new bike, to upgrade from my Specialized aluminum frame, so I did some research online and realized the bikes I was interested in could only be found locally at R&A, so I stopped by. Don't expect to be harassed by a salesperson, I actually looked around for 15 mins and then asked to be helped. A young man, Iggy, was more than helpful. I think on the first visit he spent over an hour with me narrowing down my choices, and we actually got to a bike that wasn't on my list, the Argon 18 Krypton Pro. Iggy was so kind and so knowledgeable, answered every question I had w/ no angles, a true expert that helped me make the right choices. I ended up coming back for a test ride, which was amazing, and realized this was the bike for me. Made a couple upgrades (new handle bar and a power meter) and I had the bike home a week later. Thought it would take a couple weeks for some of the upgrades, but it didn't, and the day they arrived, Iggy had them on. When I picked it up, Iggy had the bike set up to my specs from my last fitting for my old bike, and it was perfect...he took me through the entire bike and how to break it down and maintain it, was pretty f'in awesome and helpful. But it didn't stop there, Iggy is so timely in his emails and when I had questions after a ride or two, he answered them the same business day. (keep in mind they are closed Sunday/Monday) He also offered to let me swing by in May prior to my century ride for a quick look to make sure everything was tight. Buying a bike that exceeds 10k is a serious investment, it's great to know you go to a shop that will take care of you after the sale, thx for everything Iggy and R&A, nice job! Jeff read more

Great customer service, hard-on inducing selection, and expectedly high prices. Came for an ASOS Mille bib, they had it and I got to try before I bought. Customer service was solid. I can't attest to mechanical services. read more

I brought my 13 year old carbon Fondriest TF1 with Campagnolo Record 10 speed for maintenance. The bicycle is better than new. Smooth as butter. They also corrected the brake pads I was using on my carbon rims. They were carbon friendly brakes but they had the perfect match to my Reynolds wheels. She brakes so much better and smoother. I highly recommend this place for your maintenance. Keep spinning. read more

The staff is highly expert and took care of a problem on my bike that the shop across town couldn't solve. They also identified other repairs to my bike that the other shop missed. The prices may be 10 to 20% higher, but the value of service I received was easily 100% greater than elsewhere. I can't say enough nice things about this place! read more

Amazing service, products, and a wealth of knowledge. Highly recommend if you're looking to try out a range of cycling gear and need some advice on what you actually need vs what you can get. This place has great customer service, a very clean and sharp looking store, and a COVID protocol to limit the number of people in the store. They were very helpful in helping me with purchasing a new bike. Giving their honest opinion on various considerations and recommendations based on my preferences. With repair and service, they were very accommodating with repair of my current bike. They took me in while my local store was backed up a month. Their price was also very good for the repair. Service was friendly and professional. read more

Ordered a pair of road shoes from their online store. After the transaction, I noticed I accidentally ordered the wrong size. I sent an email asking if they could change the size. No answer. I called after not having a response for a few days. The R&A employee told me he could not change the size OR let me return them because they were on sale! What kind of business does not accept returns?! So now I'm stuck with a pair of shoes I can't wear. AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COST. They don't value their customers read more

This is the best shop I've been to in the Bay Area! Excellent inventory and showroom. They even have a cool cafe attached. They had the bike I wanted, the wheels, and just about everything else while I was looking around(pretty rare in the current market). If they don't they are happy to help get the ball rolling on actually getting the product. I was helped out by Jenner who was very knowledgeable with all the questions I had. Very professional and polite. The whole experience put my local bike shop to shame! Only complaint I had was that I live too far away from them. Def will be going here for future needs. read more

Came here to throw a lot of money down on a high end bike that I saw online. There were two employees helping folks at the front, but when we entered, no greeting, no nod, no acknowledgement whatsoever, they looked our direction and that was it. Ok. Hung out for a bit while the other customers were being helped, walked around the store, still ignored. Finally stood directly in line behind the other customers, still no acknowledgement, no eye contact, no "we'll be right with you". Nothing. So we left. Not sure if they're going for that bougie, elitist vibe but it sure felt like it. read more

I walked into this store a few weeks ago and was blown away!! I talked w Jenner on an new Pinarello. So I ordered a bike. Made an appointment to be fitted and had the pleasure of working with Dimas. He gave men some great advice and figured out a set up. Then he mentioned they had stock a Pinarello Paris that I may like and may suit my needs better. This was on Friday. That evening I gave them the ok to proceed with the Paris. I picked it up Saturday afternoon and all of my questions were answered. This is a wonderful store. They carry several hard-to-find, premium bike brands an display them beautifully. The staff is very warm and welcoming. I wen in because I was shopping for a gravel bike, someone told everyone that they carried 3T, a brand that I was interested in. They do carry 3T, but I wound up with a gorgeous Open U.P. This store just helped me with a safety/general check up for a new e-bike I purchased online. Everyone was super helpful and I did not feel the least bit judged for purchasing an entry level online e-bike or for being an older, casual rider (although I am clearly not their target customer). I'm also grateful that they didn't over-charge me and that they were willing to help me at all, since many bike shops in the area won't. I feel confident that I can now safely ride around and it was a blast to cruise home on my new bike! Thank you for your kindness and wonderful service! read more

My review is for the online R&A cycles website. I have ordered several items from them during the last few years. All of the orders were delivered correctly.
