I read the reviews and thought this would be a good place to go for breakfast with my family. When we walked up my wife and I thought we had made a mistake, but gave it a chance based on the reviews. When my omelette showed up with American cheese on it, inside and out, I knew I had made a mistake. When they were kind enough to make me a new omelette with apparently "Jack" cheese and I took my first bite, there was no doubt I had made a mistake. My wife's meal upset her stomach, as did the straight out of a bag mix pancakes my kids had. Nice enough people, but one of the worst breakfasts I've ever had. First thing to talk about is the staff, the restaurant looks to be family owned, the mother of the family served our table, she gave us menus, grabbed our drinks (within about 2 minutes) and than asked what we wanted, no time to consider. After we told her that we needed time to think she proceeded to pretty much ignore us! It wasnt until I had to stare her down did she come to our table. Once our food came, I was trying to get my one free refill on my soda ( on a side note you only get one free refill with your fountain drink. How cheap can you be that you are penny pinching a fountain drink that costs $.04 to make) and I pretty much ignored again that I never got it. The family was pretty much cooking their own breakfast along with the orders of their customers and eating it, which would explain why they weren't waiting on their customers. Two sets of elderly couples came in together and sat at the table next to us, the table and chairs was covered in food crumbs and was filthy! Not staff coming in to clean the table( which they should have taken care of earlier), just letting these customers sit in the filth of the prior residents of that table. Food: Their food was decent but just average and nothing to remember, I got a burger, it was good but not something I would strive to eat again. The venue: The building looks like it's in need of some major TCL, the windows have some mild caulking along the seems that is coming undone and some wood trim like looks like it needs to be replaced, ceiling fans that look like they were installed by the family and one looks like it might fall to the floor soon. An A/C until that is in the wall right where one of their tables is, the cord comes out and interferes with the table to be plugged into the wall and looks like its covered in aluminium foil. The tables look like the came out of a run down high school cafeteria and their one large table for 6 people is a folding picnic table that you can buy at walmart with cheap plastic chairs, it seems a very cheap and not customer friendly by any means. Their one bathroom is outside and looks like it could be considered an out house almost. This business is in some major work in their customer service, penny pinching money making mindset, and the condition of their venue. I will most likely NOT return here. read more

I don't eat a lot of chorizo but I'm a big fan of their chorizo and jalapeño scramble. They don't serve vegan milk for coffee so don't ask for a coffee if u don't want it black or w dairy. I've been enjoying Beulah's simplicity and non noisiness!! read more

This is a great place to stop for lunch. It is a diner that has been there for years. The food is typical American coffee shop fare. I had a burger and home fries. The service is good and so is the quality and the portions are large. Middletown is a main street town. It has a rural feel. It is just up from the wine country but so different. If you take Highway 29 from Calistoga you will get your fill of the twisties. read more

My family came here for breakfast and it was great. There was no wait and it was nice and cool inside. The coffee and tea were great and we each found something we wanted to eat for breakfast. We ordered French toast, omelets, and chorizo. All of us scraped our plates clean. Definitely coming back when we are in the area. read more

Beulah's Kitchen has always had a place in my heart. The Head Chef and his famliy that run this brekfast spot do a tremendous job in creating authentic, and creative brekfast dishes that makes my mouth water. The lunch menu is awesome. The Frisco Burger is hands down got to be one of the best I've ever had. With Cheddar Cheese that seems to melt into the bun, and burger itself at the same time. Beulahs is the Hangover Cure for anyone. One of my All-Time favorite spots in good ole' Middletown. read more

We were cruising around looking for a breakfast/lunch place, and we saw Beulah's--my friends and I said "this is the place". Hole in the wall looking from the outside, a bit shabby inside, but very homey. The waitress was *extremely* friendly and pleasant; the food good--the hashbrowns are as good as they get. Had a western omelette--full of peppers and cheese--really good. Don't let the looks fool you--it's real food inside. read more

Occasionally we take the 45 minute drive to Middletown just to have breakfast a Beulah's---even with gas approaching 5 bucks a gallon, it's well worth it. I don't know if the same owners but I've eaten here for 30 plus years and have never been disappointed. Place smells good, serves great food, and is clean. If I live long enough, I'll be driving up for breakfast for another 30 years ! read more

Family owned and operated. The only reason I don't give four stars is the food quality. I love this place and I know the owners take pride and want to always do their best. With today's food prices I can see it is more challenging for small family restaurants to survive. In order to meet the cost of business, it seems the "grade of the food" is sacrificed and a cheaper product is purchased. Obviously this diminishes food quality. And that is sad because it could be soooo much better with better quality ingredients. read more

Beulah's was able to quickly seat a group of 8 very hungry men for brunch, where we were treated very courteously by our server. The food was great, in particular the french toast. Prices were extremely reasonable and portions good. I highly recommend this place for anyone in town or for those driving through to other destinations. Will definitely come back. read more

At first look the place is run down, this how ever is not the case when you come in side. The food is consistently excellent and the servers are prompt on the drink refills. A definite night and day comparison from the cow poke cafe right across the street. Not only do I recommend this place but I go here about once a month. Beulah's has been around for years it is consistant and always a good place for breakfast. Small town feel and good food.

Beula's has been in this town for over 30 years under different owners. They provide hearty diner-styled food--sometimes with some Mexican choices that the current owners have incorporated. You can sit out back when the weather is nice or cozy up in the very compact dining room when it is not. Portions are large, individually prepared, and wait times for food are usually 5-10 minutes. My favorites are the Chicken Ortega sandwich and the BLT with avocado and Montery Jack. I usually get a salad as a side but the Potato Salad and Home Fries are awesome if you need the carbs! read more

If you like being packed small spaces with tons of people, eat here. This restaurant is about the size of half a school bus. Recommended Food: none, it's all food you could make yourself and enjoy in a space bigger than a sardine can. read more

Delicious food, kind help, and relaxing atmosphere. Looks kinda boring at first but it's so homey inside - just a small, family-style diner. I had scrambled eggs and chorizo with hash browns, and a cup of coffee. Very fair prices. I liked the seating by the windows to people-watch. LOVE LOVE LOVE! We have been eating here for years, and we are never disappointed. They have a nice traditional menu as well as fantastic specials. Prices are excellent and portions are generous. The staff is friendly and more than happy to adjust orders if you don't want to have the exact item on the menu. LOVE having breakfast here. Have tried other places in town and got tired of everything being greasy or tasting like whatever else they were cooking at the same time. NEVER an issue with Beulah's. It's pretty hot in there and run down ..the food is bad sorry, invest some money in the place at least. They have a sign on the highway that tells you a lot it's old, faded and shows no pride of ownership in the place. Been there a few times out of desperation of limited restaurants cow poke is better. I was hoping for a great chicken fried steak breakfast. What I got was neither great, or chicken fried steak! It was not breaded, not fried, not at all what you think of when you order chicken fried steak. The eggs were cooked correctly, but I live in Hidden Valley and I will not come back here. Diner food. Unfortunately we arrived in the midst of a rush, and since the place isn't very big it took over an hour to get breakfast.

My wife and I would often visit friends who at the time lived in Middletown. On our initial visit they took us to Beulah's for breakfast. I hesitated at first because the place from the exterior looks a wee bit run down. Nevertheless, we went in and wow.. the aroma immediately told me that we were going to be doing some serious eating here. I ordered up some hotcakes and when the waitress delivered them to the table I just sat there looking at them flopping over the side of an already over-sized plate. They served them up with plenty of butter and warm syrup and I dived in. Honestly they were the very best 'Cakes' that I had ever had at a restaurant. I think I had a side of great tasting bacon too. Coffee was hot and very favorable. On other occasions my wife and I had to share their wonderful omelets because they were so plentifully prepared. Beulah's is truly a place where you still get Great Food. Many Kudos to the entire staff. read more

My husband and I were visiting from out of town for the night to go to the casino near here. We picked this place for breakfast because it had good reviews. The food was good, my husband had the garbage omelet and I had the breakfast burrito. The service was terrible. We were sat and left for a good 15 minutes before our order was taken and once we finally got coffee we were never asked again if we wanted a refill and no one came by to check on us. When my husband received his omelet it had no tomatoes on top (which the menu said it came with). When he asked the waitress if it was supposed to come with tomatoes she laughed and said "Ya it normally does, sorry" and walked off. No offer to bring him tomatoes, NOTHING. Just laughed it off and walked away. We were both speechless. Service is one of the most important components of eating at a restaurant and this place definitely lacks it. We won't be coming back. read more
