They were pretty booked out, however when I explained the gravity of the problem (people in a home office below the tub area), Franchesca worked her magic and got me an appointment in 2 days. Damien showed up promptly at the 9 Am start time. We walked around the property while I explained my concern, and noted several other possible issues. Damien was extremely through, asking numerious questions and providing input and advice along the way. He took the time to explain causes for the different issues and was personable, professional and extremely helpful. Luckly for me, my problems traced back to normal settling, a recent solar panel and roofing job and normal aging. It's no wonder why Alpha has so many 5 star reviews- They absolutitly deserve every one of those. I only wish other businesses were as well run, and with such amazing people like Damien and Franchesca.

One issue, however, was that there was differential settling. This is where Alpha Structural comes in. I feel the entire process went well. Ken came out to survey the situation. We had a good conversation and came to consensus on the scope of work; and I feel I received a fair proposal. David Gonzalez (supervisor) was good at communicating once the job started. He provided an accurate timeline for Alpha's part of the rehab project (so that I could schedule subsequent contractors). When demolition revealed new things, I was informed. And he provided a good debrief when work was completed. Matteo and Dennis spent three days on the project. Whenever I visited the worksite, they were busy. I don't think people realize what is involved when re-leveling a house. These two demonstrated a lot of skilled work. I (and my neighbors) also appreciate the company's "clean as you go" process. Regardless of the work happening, the worksite was always neat. Going forward, I feel I have a good (new) baseline understanding of what is happening within my house.

An Architect's Review…read more As an architect, I work with contractors on a regular basis and needless to say, I was probably more particular than most when it came to choosing someone to work on my own home. Word of mouth and research led me to ARC / Armando... and I'm glad I went with him! From the beginning, communication was clear and straightforward. We went through the scope of work, my requirements and budget. I had some very basic drawings prepared to communicate my ideas. Along the way, Armando made suggestions to work with my requirements and budget. His pricing was reasonable and, most importantly, he completed the work within the budget we originally agreed upon. Anyone who has done a renovation before knows how easily costs can start creeping up once work begins. That was not my experience here. The scope and budget were established upfront and Armando stuck to them. And this was very important to me as I had no way of accommodating an increase in cost. The work was for a garage renovation, it included interior demo, replacement of an exterior window, addition of a new exterior door, vinyl wood flooring, drywall and installation of a new gypsum ceiling. Work progressed efficiently and to my expectations with no unnecessary delays. Communication throughout the project was excellent, and mostly Armando initiating the conversations to keep me updated. He was also very easy to work with on finishes and hardware. Some items I provided myself while others were sourced by him. Again, he made recommendations to work with my budget while not compromising on quality. Speaking of quality, the quality of the work was exceptional. It has now been over a year since the renovation was completed and everything still looks as good as the day it was finished. Absolutely zero complaints! His attention to detail was very much appreciated. He constantly made suggestions when he felt something could be improved. For example, he suggested a more random tile pattern for the vinyl floor instead of the more regular stagger I had proposed. We went with his suggestion and I am very pleased with it. The project lasted 5 weeks and included a complete tear down and rebuild with pre-fabricated white oak cabinets, quartz countertop, subway tile backsplash, plumbing/gas/electrical updates, tv power outlet, floating cabinets, recess lights, built in microwave, sink and appliance installation. They showed up Monday thru Friday and communicated if unable to show up. They use an app called Builder Trend, which allows for communication with all team members, regular photo uploads, balance/payment schedule review and contract copies. They were very professional, well organized and even provided digital layouts prior to starting the project. They enclosed the working area well and did their best to keep non-working areas clean. They were responsive to any concerns that we brought up. Make sure that everything that you want, or agree on is written in the contract. Any changes that you request will result in a change in order invoice, resulting in additional fees. I would recommend making payments in person at the shop, rather than using your credit card to avoid extra charges. Overall, we definitely recommend AC&R for your remodeling needs and would use them again for any future projects.

I had a rough vision in mind for fitting a lot into a relatively small space, but wanted to see the options rendered so I could better make the big layout and design decisions. Alexis was very patient and super helpful in mocking up each iteration until we locked in the final design. Once it was time to actually break ground, Gil, Oren, Uriel, and the rest of the team were really responsive and always available by text. Unlike previous contractors we've worked with, they usually gave us an idea of what was happening the next day/week and who to expect onsite. The first ~70% of the project went really smoothly and far exceeded my expectations. Demo, framing, rough plumbing, and electrical all largely went without a hitch. We ran into some problems towards the end around communication, timeline, and subcontractor oversight -- which led to more delays when someone punctured our new in-wall toilet tank and flooded both the bathroom and bedroom. We know every construction job runs into challenges so we weren't bent out of shape by it, and we did appreciate that GHB took full responsibility for fixing the issues. By and large we were really impressed by most of their subcontractors, especially the very professional and considerate plumbing, electrical, and tiling teams! After living with our new bathroom for a while now, we can definitely say it was worth the wait, and such a huge improvement over our previous dysfunctional layout.
