We had such a wonderful experience working with Shay and the entire JRD Construction team. From beginning to end, the process was incredibly positive, organized, and communicative -- and somehow they even finished our project weeks ahead of schedule! We hired JRD for a fairly extensive exterior project that included new pavers, a complete renovation of our courtyard with terracotta and decorative tile, new walkways, and installation of a large fountain. Craaaaacckkkk!!!!! JRD knocked it out of the park with all the work they did at my house!!! I had a bad leak in my balcony that came into my garage and needed new weatherproofing. I was looking at another company initially, but Yelp included JRD in my quote request. James was so friendly on the phone and was able to squeeze my consult in. Doron came out and gave me such a good price and close start date that I jumped on it. Shay was assigned as my project manager. When they did the demo, we found extensive termite damage and wood rot that made my balcony unsafe. Shay brought Isaac from their commercial side in for help. We decided that replacing the existing framing and railing was necessary. It was also during this time I decided to redo our roof and add a patio cover. Shay kept in contact with me daily during the job. When we ran into issues with the city, which nitpicked every detail, JRD did not abandon the job or try to add anything additional to the contract. JRD owner Ben also stepped in with his extensive experience and the job was completed within the new time frame they estimated. Everything turned out amazing! Shay (pronounce as Shy) of JRD Construction worked on quotes for fixing of our deck. It is a structure at least 30 feet from the ground on a hillside. After getting a quote from a competitor, which was twice the amount, I called JRD. I actually thought we were going to stick with the original company, until I met with Shay. JRD's prices were far cheaper with no hidden fees. Once we signed and were ready to go, JRD showed up to start the project within a day or two. During the demolition, they found severe wood rot on the joists and beams. This was something that wasn't a surprise, and what we were unfortunately expecting. They continued demo and started working on fortifying the structure, which was definitely not built to code. The original beams were a 2" x 6" and only went 6 feet under the house. We could feel the house shake every time someone would walk on the deck. JRD strengthened the structure with 3" x 6" and 18 ft beams. This did add to the cost of the project, but gave us a peace of mind that we were going to be safe living in our home. Instead of wood decking, we decided to move forward with Trex, with wood railing and cables, so that it would not obstruct our view. Shay and his uncle Ben were on-site just about every day. Shay communicated with us every evening during the process. They had work crews that focused on different parts of the project according to their specialties. From scaffolding to demo, wood work to trex, and painting to railing. It was nice to see that they were going about the project in the right way. The greatest part of JRD's workers, was that they were professionals from beginning to end and were all actual employees of JRD. They did not outsource any of the project (other than possibly the scaffolding?). We couldn't be more happy with results and the professionalism of JRD. Halfway through the decking process, we were loving the work so much that, we decided to have an outdoor kitchen bulit by JRD. We could have done with a smaller kitchen, but decided to go big. This is where we had to get more involved. We chose our own stone by visiting 2 warehouse that JRD recommended and the appliances we had purchased through Amazon (believe it or not). If you don't know what to get, JRD will give you some recommendations. They didn't leave you hanging to get the items on your own. The end result was a beautiful area with a BIG grill, storage drawers, sink with storage underneath and a large refrigerator. We love to entertain, but it was always a hassle cooking upstairs then bringing the food down. Now we can do most of the grilling downstairs and mingle with our guest. Thanks to JRD, we now have our dream outdoor living space, and a beautiful deck that we, our dogs and guests can enjoy. Next project for JRD will be our kitchen in the main house. We needed to get our old balcony replaced. The railing was loose, and the entire balcony had a slope to it. We got some quotes from various companies. We picked JRD because they were able to start the work quickly and had several pictures of examples of balconies/decks they had done before to aid us in our decision making of different colors and materials. We worked with Isaac and Shai (pronounced Shay), and they both were excellent at communicating and responding throughout the process. Our pool fence got a rip in it during demolition (hey, it's construction, things are going to happen), and the very next day Shai was able to get it replaced perfectly by our original pool fence installer. The workers were also very considerate and cleaned up the job site each day before they left, leaving it in a state where I wasn't worried about my children hurting themselves if they went outside. I ended up being at home during most of the project, and I can vouch for the care and attention they paid to my property (they carefully moved the patio furniture I had under the old balcony, along with removing the lights and extension cords I had mounted to the old framing as well). JRD removed the old yard that came with the house when we got it. But the old yard was really bad. JRD had to fix a lot of things including adding drains, and pulling out roots, bricks, concrete, trees, and many other things. They installed a retaining wall up to the hillside and did concrete patio all around the house. Now we have a huge backyard. Next we will do grass. The pride of workmanship on behalf of the employees was amazing. The bricks on top were really well done for an awkward yard layout (not square). But you wouldn't know it by the end result they made it look perfect and natural. The concrete pour was super great and they asked us what the look and finish would be and they recommended the best option with a diamond cut pattern and we love it so much. They are very good at what they do. I would say the price makes it worth it if you want to have something nice and get compliments on. My family is really enjoying the backyard since the first and second night it was finished (two days ago). I would recommend to anyone who has a junky situation that is not correct to use JRD to fix it or if you want to upgrade to something really great. Everyone who sees the yard says wow! read more
