I asked Shay for help with adding a wall to my garage, change area of laundry air vent, demo carpet on stairs and on second floor , change subflooring on second floor, install laminate flooring where carpet was, new walk in shower, and upgrade our stairs to have risers. We relied on temporary ramps and awkward workarounds just to get him in and out of the house. We wanted to make our home fully accessible, but we were worried it would end up looking institutional or awkward. Ray completely exceeded our expectations. He redesigned and rebuilt all of the concrete in both our front and backyard as well as the driveway, raising and adjusting the grades so everything is ADA compliant with smooth ramps and proper transitions. He also added new walkways that didn't exist before, making it possible for our son to easily access every door of our home. The most incredible part is that Ray managed to make everything functional without sacrificing the beauty or charm of our home. The ramps blend so naturally into the design that they honestly just look like part of a beautifully planned landscape. We set up an appointment, Matthew…read moreand a colleague (really wish I remembered his name because he provided great customer service on both visits, from my knowledge, he was pretty much being trained by Matthew) came by the house to check out what we were requesting. Matthew suggested and insisted they have electrician and hvac tech come at same time to resolve the issue. I said I had a hvac guy that could meet with the electrician they recommended. He offered to discount the service fee because it was easier if they had their people come at the same time. We said ok, the hvac tech was just someone recommended to us by someone we know so no personal relationship or obligation. 3 men showed up to our house, the gentleman i mentioned above, his boss and an electrician. When I asked about the hvac tech, the boss stated the electrician also works on hvac. I mean, he was checking out the compressor so I was like OK cool. Matthew then showed up and the trainee guy said goodbye and that he had to go to another job. I assume when Matthew came, he contacted the actual Hvac tech because he then told us that the hvac tech would be coming 2 to 3 hours later. The hvac tech came and when he was done he said he took video and there's a huge issue, he'll send it to Matt and Matt will let us know the findings. I asked well, what's the issue? He said Matt will show us and talk to us. It's been over a week and haven't heard back, no call, no email, nothing. 8 calls between setting up initial appointment and 2nd visit, 0 afterwards. I'm not reaching out to a company that's trying to get my business and obviously has my contact info. I'm big on customer service and although it started off good, it wasn't maintained. We're no longer interested and the issue has been resolved.

This is my revise review on P&R Lathing…read more To save time I won't go into all the details, but I hired P&R Lathing to remove and replace the weep screed and replace the black waterproofing paper at my home. When the work was finished, I believed everything had been done correctly and I initially left a positive review. I cannot remove the review so I am updating it. Later, I hired a mold remediation company to address a separate issue. During their work they removed a full wall of drywall. When they finished their process, the owner showed me that daylight was visible through multiple gaps at the bottom of the wall by the weep screed. If I didn't have the drywall removed I would have never known that the work was done improperly and would have ended up getting mold again. He explained that if the problem is not corrected, Moisture and pests can enter and mold will return. It appears that when P&R Lathing installed the weep screed, there are many gaps where you could see daylight from the outside. Because of this, insects came inside the house and had moisture intrusion entered the wall cavity, and during rains my mudsill, 2x4's and the interior of the black paper was wet. I had to run air blowers and a dehumidifier to dry the area to prevent mold from returning. I contacted Richard Warren, the owner of P&R Lathing, and asked him to resolve the problem. He said just put some caulking on the inside and outside. That is a band aid I paid almost $5,000 hired a licensed contractor because I wanted it to be done the right way! You are not supposed to put caulking on the outside or else you will get mold. I even offered to pay for the removal and replacement of the weep screed as long as it was corrected properly, without any additional profit to him since the original work had already been paid for. He had a worker paint on the foundation a cement sealer that didn't work. As a result, I filed a complaint with the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and am currently waiting for them to resolve the issue. In my opinion, I would recommend hiring a different contractor. While the workers were doing the work, Richard never came by to check on the quality of the work. He only came at the beginning to show the crew where to do the work and returned again when the job was finished to collect the payment.
