David Gallo and his crew were removing a fallen tree from a neighbor's house in Orinda. We asked David for an estimate to remove a huge eucalyptus tree from our yard and to trim branches and deadwood throughout our property to satisfy our insurance company. The price quoted seemed fair so we hired them; they started the next day and completed the work quickly, efficiently and professionally. The crew consisted of several very nice guys, and David came by periodically to supervise the work. We would definitely hire Better City Tree Services again should the need arise. read more

Waking people up at 8 am for days on end is so fucked up. I would never hire this company because you obviously only care about money and don't care about the community. If you cared at all you would at least start at 9 am. I don't care that the sound ordinance for Pinole is 7 am. I'm disabled and you have woken me up for days even on the weekend you still started at 8. Fuck you. read more

Received a call from David and said if I needed any tree services I said no idk how he got my info he said from a angi lead which I have not account nor do I have the app and proceeds to be very rude and saying well you just cost my company $100 and that's wrong you can't be doing that... I was surprised to hear a business owner speak like that to someone like that I understand his frustration but it's not my fault and I'm pretty sure you can contact angi leads and request a refund especially if I didn't make an appointment! Very unprofessional and rude probably does good work but with the way he spoke to me over the phone I would never use his services if I ever needed them! First impressions go a long way! read more

I have used Better City Tree Service, Inc. prior and because they did such a great job cutting my trees and hauling away all the green waste. I chose them again for this current tree cutting project. David stopped by our house because he saw that we had a 50 ft dead redwood in our backyard that needed to be removed, as many other tree service companies did the same. We got a handful of quotes ranging from $850 to $2400 and his quote fell just about average cost with removal and grinding the stump. He also cleaned our gutters for an additional cost. We chose him because he is licensed and insured, reasonably priced and it was the right time for us to get this done. Him and his crew were friendly and professional and cleaned up everything before leaving. Great job! read more

David and his team were extremely professional, accommodating, and communicative. We had a massive job of trimming 7 redwoods and removing 3 trees, which they took care of quickly and carefully. Afterwards they did a great job cleaning the yard of any branches and leaves left from the work. Their price was very competitive too. I will absolutely use them again in the future. read more

Responsive! Came, peeped the stumps, quoted. Came the day after that, ground out the stumps. Paid exact amount quoted. Direct & straightforward. Cleaned up the ground wood afterwards and honestly made that part of the yard look better than before they ground out the stumps! 100% all around. read more

I highly recommend them! I got a quote from them and the started the job the next day! We had 5 Italian Cypress trees that were getting too big and we wanted them trimmed down to 10 feet above ground. Better City Tree Service got the job done and they worked efficiently. We are satisfied with their work and they did a great job! The crew made sure the sidewalks and street were clean using a leaf blower. I'm glad they were considerate about the mess before leaving for the day because we did not want any of the debris flying around. Thank you Better City Tree Service for your services! We will definitely have you guys back for our next project! read more

We needed to get a tree lifted so that it didn't hit the roof on windy days. We also needed some palms trimmed. David came out, gave me a quote, and I swear within minutes his crew was out there! They used a lift to safely trim the palms, and the the roof-hitting tree branch was soon on its way to compost. The quality of the work was outstanding, David was a breeze to work with, and the price was very reasonable. read more

High winds blew over a neighbors tree onto our house. Within 40 minutes of sending out requests on yelp to three companies, I received a message from David at Better City Tree Services. Note this is a Sunday evening during rain and high winds. He arrived at my residence the very next morning and his crew started on the removal that afternoon. Very fair price and he did everything to satisfy all of our concerns and needs. He himself went onto the roof before the crew left to make sure that we knew the extent of the damage to his best ability. David put aside work he had scheduled to help us out when we needed him. I wouldn't hesitate hiring him and his crew for a second. read more

We've been so pleased with Better City Tree Service. They've help us on a couple of occasions to remove trees and grins stumps on very short notice. So tired of tree services that don't return calls or have long lead-times. Never had that with David at Better City. I've referred them to clients through our real estate business as well, and they've never let us down. Highly recommended! read more

They were good and on time and the price was pretty decent and I will use them again next year thank you.

We had Better City clean up a bunch of overgrown trees and reduce our wildfire risk when we bought our house 3 years ago - a couple solid days of work and they did a good job for a great price. This spring, we had Better City clean up most of the rest of the trees in our acre of yard and remove 9+ dead elm trees. It was a huge job that took a few days. David's guys were very respectful of our property and cleaned up well after all the trimming, felling, and chipping was done. Thankfully, all our huge tree projects are over! We'll call Better City in a couple years for regular maintenance, because they've earned our loyalty twice now. read more

David and his crew were great. I needed help pruning some Japanese maples and an apple tree. He was out the same day to give a quote and his crew was able to start the project later in the week. They came by to review a project that I had started on Yelp (Tree trimming and removing a large branch). They were able to swing by for bid within my time limit. I had called a few places to get an estimate for a stump to be completely removed from our backyard. David was polite on the phone, and came exactly on time. His bid was very reasonable, and I truly appreciated his friendly demeanor. Some people were late, some never responded, and some wanted twice as much money to get the job done. Better City Trees was definitely a great choice. They came right on time, got it done, and texted me when they were finished. I highly recommend David. He works hard, does his best to be available, responds quickly to calls and texts, and isn't trying to rob us blind either. 5 stars all the way. read more

David is great. You would not believe the contractors I have been in contact with and David was no BS, actually gave me a physical quote, had available times, and did not "over promise" as many companies do. He was able to start the job whenever it worked ion my schedule and was in and out in less than half a day. They disposed of the tree, ground the roots, and cleaned up the shavings. I actually did not find David on Yelp! it was from another contractor who used him on his personal house, so I guess he impressed a fellow contractor as well. I would highly recommend him for any tree services. read more

David and his team were great! I have a big California Pepper Tree that I had let go too long without having it trimmed, so I was looking for someone to come out and cut the branches as well as chip them on-site. David responded to my Yelp inquiry quickly and also came out quickly to take a look at the tree and give me an estimate. His price was good so I decided to go with him and I'm glad I did. His crew (3 guys) were able to come out just a few days later, even during their busy season and they were very efficient in trimming the tree. They did a great job and I will for sure use them again! read more

They were on time very reasonable and did a wonderful job. I would recommend them. They were very fast and did a good job on cleaning up

You won't be disappointed with this company! Rewind about 5 months ago, when we purchased our house. Of course, shorty after moving in, one our tree limbs starts swinging and then touching our neighbors house. We called Better City Tree Services on an emergency basis, to remove the tree . They came the next day and removed the tree. The tree removal was fast, staff was friendly and all debris was picked up and removed . Last month we decided to get two other trees on the other side of the house removed again due to them being a little too close to our neighbors cars. Scheduling an appointment that worked for us was easy. When staff came out, again they were friendly and work efficiently. The job actually took less time that they anticipated. Again, any debris was cleaned up as if they had never been there. We had a great experience with this company and they will be our go to in the future for our tree needs. read more

We have had a dead tree in front of our house for a while and had several estimates, but David came by one day and gave us a much better quote and was available within one business day to complete the removal. He let us know what we needed to do to prepare (talk with neighbors, have people move their cars, etc.) and he and his crew were on time the next morning. They worked quickly but cautiously, and because I was working from home this day, I expected it to be loud all day - not the case! They kept the noise levels very minimal by getting everything ready and doing any sawing and chipping at the same time. Partway through the removal, they expressed concern with one of our other trees, part of which had fallen during a recent windstorm. Together we decided it wasn't stable enough to risk it falling on the neighbors' home, and went forward with removal. The price we paid was fair and the work was done quickly and very well. They gave our remaining tree a fertilizer treatment as discussed, and cleaned up the street and side of our home thoroughly and left some wood behind as requested by my husband, the lumberjack. 10/10 would recommend David and his crew, and will be using them again for our property! read more
