I'm from Chicago and this was another great, hipster stop with my daughter on our tour of SoCal coffee shops. Better Buzz has a great vibe (5/5). Early afternoon on a weekday and the place was packed. I got a peppermint iced latte, which was really good. My daughter (the expert) chose "the best drink ever." I tried it. Yep, it was (5/5)! This may be hard to believe for some, but there actually was a time in human history when you couldn't find a coffee place seemingly on every street corner. Today it feels like you can stumble upon 3 of them on a stroll to your mailbox. Clearly the need to set out on a trek in search of coffee has been eliminated. That is, of course, unless you've discovered a place worthy of the trek. Well we believe that we have! This Better Buzz location is outstanding. Sure the coffee and food are really good, but I think it's the vibe that really stands out. Laid back, but somehow intentional about nurturing what you feel here. A great place to meet up with a friend or pound out a few emails. The song selection and volume blend into the vibe seamlessly. Yes, you can place your order to go, but why miss out? The laptops were out in force during our visit, but the convos at numerous tables were also flowing. Our only warning about this place is don't think you're gonna attend a virtual work meeting and go unnoticed. Your colleagues are gonna quickly realize that you're in a way better place than they are and resent you for it. No work phone calls either. So listen up this is supposed to be a review, but it's more like a story. Of where you need to go to get some morning glory. I woke up in the morning about a quarter to nine, I was feeling super tired and I knew it was time. It was a busy day and I had a lot to do and; I was walking by the Better Buzz when I smelled something was brewing. Everything looked so dandy and sweet, I had no idea I was in for a treat. I took a step and I walked inside, then I looked at the menu while I waited in line. An iced vanilla bean latte was what I ordered that day. It was really, really good I was happy to say. The coffee was fresh and the feelings are good. This definitely wasn't a normal day in the hood. So if you're having one of those days that's kinda strange, go to Better Buzz if it's within your driving range. You'll like it and I promise that you'll feel enthused. Heard this was first ever better buzz location so I was excited to try it here. I got coconut buzz which was basically a coconut coffee frappe. I tasted coconut flakes in there which was a good surprise, a bit sweet but overall pretty good. Staff was super accommodating!! I was curious about a mocha coconut buzz I saw on the Yelp reviews maybe it was seasonal but when I asked about it they made it even when it wasn't on the menu !! SERVICE: i always order online (which i recommend) but it's always made in time! it definitely gets crowded on weekends and there were no places to sit. FOOD: very large avocado toast for $8-9. obviously still expensive for a toast, but they slather so much avocado on i can't be that mad. it's also not seasoned very well which is why i subtracted a star. COFFEE: always so good. tried the hazelnut divinity this time which i would say is a lot more flavorful than their most popular best drink ever. read more

Better Buzz has definitely gained a loyal following in Encinitas, but it's slightly over-hyped in my opinion. I recommend visiting at least once, but go in with an open mind. Their location, branding, layout, and interior design is top notch. They also are well-known for their craft coffee creations like the the "Hazelnut Divinity", "Best Drink Ever" and the "Mint Infused Ice Coffee". However, their cup sizes are way too large and it throws off the flavor ratios in more traditional drinks. Most of their drinks are also loaded with sugar, so consider ordering it "half sweet" or "one-fourth" sweet if you're not in the liquid dessert mood. If you're hungry, it's also a good spot for breakfast/lunch because they offer a handful of smoothie and açaí bowl options, plus sandwiches, avocado toast and assorted pastries. I've tried the gluten-free brownie and it was great! Overall- Better Buzz is worth checking out, but be sure to set your expectations accordingly. Life's better buzzed! It truly is... Great little coffee shop. It's cozy, always lively, and most importantly just 3 blocks from the ocean. I've been here a few times and the line always goes very quickly. My favorite cups of coffee so far have been their honey, vanilla, and matcha lattes. Whether cold or hot they're all great. This time I saw a sign that showed they have a coconut matcha and it's my #1 fave at this point. Haven't tried the food yet but I just might do that on my next visit.
