I don't normally write reviews but I was very disappointed with the food here. I just came back from having lunch with my kids. The pretzel appetizer was the best thing we ordered. But it was all down hill from there. The wings I had were inedible. I can't describe how bad the chicken was. The kids meals were standard bad food. Why can't this great location get it together and just have better & fresher food? It upset me as well that they charged per drink without saying they didn't have refills. $4 each for an iced tea or soda filled with ice is beyond ridiculous. My wife and I saw this when we pulled into Bethany and since it was a short walk from our condo and had live music we decided to try it. We put are name in and were told 20 minutes so I went to get some drinks for us and the kids. Beers on draft were good and the bartender was friendly. However once we had sat there over 30 minutes I asked where we were in queue and found out we had already been 'crossed out'. They have many people working there but very disorganized. Our waiter brought our drinks to the wrong table and my daughter found a bug in her water. Also to mention everything is paper/plastic so they obviously save money on dishwasher costs. The food was mediocre. Overall I would say the place is good for hanging out having a few drinks and listening to music. I have learned this is not a place to wait for 30 minutes for dinner. At least I can say I tried it. Will certainly stop there for SchockTop on draft and music in the future. read more

Pretty restaurant- live music- playground for kids is nice. Great service from our waiter. Food is poor quality- especially for the price. Poor beer list. For example- $10 for chips and guacamole- guacamole was clearly the previously frozen grocery store kind and did not have any spices. My 16.00 salad had about an 1/8 of a cup of crab mixed in with 1/2 a cup of feta cheese. Even the fried foods were just low quality and gross. Kids didn't touch it. Charges for refills on certain kids drinks. I would consider this place for happy hour only. read more

The hostess staff were extremely rude and unwelcoming. Called ahead and reserved a 30 minute ahead spot and got ignored and misinformed when we arrived. Such a rude manager! On the first Saturday of college football season they refused to play a big SEC game. Even when 12-15 patrons said they'd leave if it wasn't put on she quickly said she'd be happy to get their checks. I was actually shocked to see a manager so rude, she insisted on leaving tennis on for one family on the patio but it was really her condescending tone and attitude that made me never want to patronize them again. We all left and had a lovely rest of the day and great drinks at Mangos. Hi Tom - just want to say that there were two groups of fans there (mine was the older group) and while I talked to the other group, we weren't all together. I understand a little better why she would have been frustrated considering that group touched the iPad which is clearly inappropriate, and I wasn't aware of. We were staying at the Sea Colony and this place was a quick 3 minute walk for us. We had a blast both times we went, super friendly bartenders, good drinks, great breeze and even though you're in the CVS parking lot it was oddly not an issue. Just a great fun atmosphere. Went there for lunch Friday 4/15. We had a decent size group - 2 tables. Everyone complimented on the food. Great selection and reasonable prices. I had the shrimp salad sandwich - it was excellent! Service was very good, I wish I could remember the young woman's name that waited on us. The manager or owner made the Roland's and che led in on us and was a lovely lady. Our server, Brendan (?), was amazing! He was really nice and attentive. Overall, service was great. The food was really good. We got the Buffalo chicken sandwich, Captain burger, fish and chips, cheeseburger, and fish tacos. Everyone was pretty happy with how the food came out. We were all filled for the rest of the day. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice too. Outdoor seating was relaxing and next to a little pond which was really pretty. We went during the day for lunch, so I can imagine it must be amazing during the night. The drinks are reasonably priced too and they have good daily specials. It would be unfair to grade this place as a fine dining venue; it's a beach bar (though not on the actual beach). This was the first time we'd been there. The food was what you'd expect from a beach bar -- fairly limited menu, mostly bar-type food. My better half's crab cake was very good -- nice and moist, and not overloaded with Old Bay. My cheese steak sub was not up to Philly standards, but ok if a little gloppy with cheese. Our waiter, Andrew, was outstanding, however. We would go back. read more

Great vibe, lots on the menu and yummy drinks. We were there 3 times in one week. Staff is attentive, well-trained and really friendly. It's a great location just outside of downtown Bethany, so you can breath without mega crowds. We recommend calling 30 mins ahead to get your name on the list. This place draws people in! The first night we went it was 3 of us and we had Adela waiting on us. She was so sweet and really on her game. She would bring refills before we asked for them and check on us throughout the meal. Really an excellent server. So we went back a second night with 5 and then a third time later in the week with a party of 17 (4 families). Would def recommend! read more

Bethany finally has a really nice indoor outdoor bar restaurant. Very casual. Live music every night.finally. 5$ for a lb of crab claws? Great deal. The grilled tuna fish tacos were very good. Wife had the crab salad. And $18 a bit expensive but hey it's the beach.good beer selection. Fresh made orange crushes. The place is new. Maybe they are trying to figure out the whole service thing. They had so many servers, I think every one of them had one table. Throw in three managers standing around scratching each other's butts, and it makes everything chaotic. Our service wasn't horrible, but it could've been better. All and all I am very happy to have the Bethany boathouse. We will be back. read more

Took forever to be seated even though my party was told there was no wait and a table had to just be wiped down for us. We had to remind the hostesses that we were still waiting to be seated when parties that came in after mine were seated. Food was horrendous, portions were puny yet the prices were exceptionally high. However, our server Liz was great and very friendly. Great atmosphere on a Saturday night. Bartenders are the best I have ever seen! Very busy Saturday night and no one ever had to wait for a drink. Now for the food....small menu....just ok. Ordered the chicken nachos and it was big chunks of chicken over tortillas smothered on a white queso sauce. Also ordered the shrimp tacos which were just basic shrimp tacos. Nothing bad but nothing great. Would definitely come back for the atmosphere and drinks but not the food. I stopped there for a gin and tonic with my 21 Year Old son yesterday. He had his scannable NY Drivers license with him and a temporary one issued by NY State. We were treated very rudely by a portly staff member and l was very embarrassed to be accused of serving a minor. He is 21. I would never go back there again on vacation. Nasty rude staff. I should have called the police and had an officer scan his license to prove them wrong. If that happened again l would. I'm being nice by giving 1 star. I've had lunch and dinner on two different days at the outside bar. The bartenders are attentive and friendly. They all made sure to introduce themselves- Petrie, Gary & Wes. The Boathouse has made so many adjustments to make customers feel safe. The seating is appropriately social distanced but still very comfortable. Even the inside seating feels like you are sitting outside since all the windows and doors are open. Masks are required til you are seated. Staff wear them at all times. Besides the safe and fun atmosphere, the food was great. The Seared Ahi Tuna w wonton chips was amazing. Not sure how we missed it all these years. Soooo much tuna. Yum. And the crushes were tasty. We were really impressed by the LIVE music, atmosphere, food and especially our waiter. The fried chicken was the best I ever had and lasted for 2 more meals. Very kid friendly and adult friendly as well. The manager also stopped by after we finished eating to ask us about our experience. Sometimes that can be annoying but, he waited and had perfect timing. One more thing.....very clean and more importantly the bathrooms were clean. Thank you! read more
