The brisket taco was super good. Tender and flavorful brisket. Also the quesadilla was great. Didn't try the sides

We didn't care for the brisket at all. Very dry and not a fan of the sauce. Staff was nice & friendly- just not good bbq.

Got some tacos, esquites (corn in a cup), and a birrierias torta. The service was quick and all the food was delicious, but esquites was a little pricey. I would recommend stopping here for some authentic street food that hit the spot.

Wow! If you like BIRRIA, this is your spot! So many offerings. Birria Ramen, party platters,…read moreindividual tacos (4$ each, served with onion, cilantro, salsa verde, & red sauce), and even BirriaPizza that I have to go back and try (built on a 12" flour tortilla). I'm intrigued! Stopped by on a whym for lunch. Enjoyed 2 Birria tacos & a Mexican Coke on their picnic table (beautiful day!). Individual tacos (in lieu of "plates") don't come with consommé; however, the wonderfully friendly staff eagerly offered me a small cup. Hot and yum! Happy girl! :D Also purchased two Carne Asada Tacos to-go for dinner. Sadly, the beef was riddled with inedible fat and gristle (see pics). :( Cry. Short: Go for the Birria, skip the other traditional Mexican offerings (e.g., tripa, al pastor, etc.). Oh, be sure to ask them to crisp the corn tortillas with the birria tacos, otherwise oddly they won't. Merp. They accept credit cards and cash. Gratuity is greatly appreciated, but not expected of course.

I stumbled upon this truck last month with Thing Two when she went ice skating at The Crossover…read more This truck was located at the back of The Crossover in-between two other food trucks. Thing Two ordered the nachos at the suggestion of another customer who was raving about the order he picked up. After we ordered, it took about 5 minutes for us to get our order. The nachos were heavier on the cheeses than on the carnitas. The hefty cheese took away from the carnitas which was unfortunate. Overall, this was on okay execution of nachos but not ones that I would seek out in the future. $8.50 before tip

If you venture north of Austin off 183, you'll find this really cool spot called Field House…read more Inside Field House is a good little taco truck that serves up big flavor. If you live in Texas you have to know your taco spots and I'm happy I tried this one. Here's what I had: Pirata - Good amount of sirloin steak, cooked well with onions and cheese on a flour tortilla. This was the second best of what I had. El Capitan- This is the one! If you get anything on this menu, get this! Of all the tacos I tried on the menu, this one stole the show! The shredded pork melts in your mouth. Paired with cheese on a flour tortilla. This was taco heaven! Chicken taco- Underwhelmed with this one. Flavor was lacking and it was just ok. Gringa taco- Standard pastor meat on a flour tortilla. Nothing stood out about this one. Price was higher than what I like for 1 taco ($7-8). Standing in line also took a while, then the wait was quite long but the food was good. Overall, worth a try if you're in the area. The atmosphere is definitely worth it as Field House bar is cool.

It's a BBQ truck & on a Saturday evening they had ALL MEAT ready! Nothing was out so we had our pick. We ordered the 2 meats and 2 sides plate to share with brisket, pulled pork, mac & cheese, and scalloped potatoes. Favorite part of the dish was by far the brisket which was close to perfect. Pulled pork was seasoned with peppers or something, so found it a little distracting. But everything was good. Service was great, we ordered at the truck & they brought it to us at the bar next door, which has seating, twinkle lights, and on Sat college football all around. A very good austin BBQ spot - would like to try more of their meats to taste it all.

I was…read morevery excited to try some great bbq at one of the most highly rated food trucks on Yelp and by others. It's about 25 minutes over curvy roads thru the hills outside of Austin central metro area. I was glad that I went because I've been to Austin many times yet had not been northwest of the city. I tried many items. The sides were only $4 for the "small" portions (which weren't that small), so I tried all of them. The mac and cheese cork screw pasta was especially delicious. In fact, every side was delish and decadent. The jicama cole slaw was good and crunchy, the scalloped potatoes delish, the sriracha cole slaw had a good kick. I also liked the green chili corn and the pinto beans (very hearty). There was a side of pickle chips and onions. Now for the most important part, the brisket. It had a delicious bark on it, but it was just a bit dry. When I told my native Austinite friends this later, they all got very quiet ;). I believe that perhaps the truck makes the meat every other day, and I was there on the second day and so the meat got a bit dry (I'm being purely speculative about this and could be wrong). But it was still amazing! The special that day was "The Volcano Sandwich" (see photos) with brisket, potato salad, bacon jam, jalapenos, and pepper vinegar sauce on a hamburger bun. By the ingredients list, I thought it would be spicy, but it really was not. It was excellent. I also got the straight slices of brisket in its purest form. Again, delicious but a bit on the dry side. I also opted for some pork and got the Maui Waui Taco with pulled pork, pineapple pico de gallo, and chipotle sour cream. It was very tasty and I recommend it for the pork. It had a good kick and just sweet enough, but too much so. I was unsure whether Jim's Smokehouse had a second location along Barton Springs Road in Austin because it was listed on the web. I tried calling a few times to get more information, but got voicemail both times. I confirmed later that, as of this writing, the dt Austin location was closed down. Jim's Smokehouse is co-located with a few other food trucks. There are picnics tables, shaded in the back and a ping pong table. That day, I was served by Cecil? who was incredibly friendly and very welcoming. Such a nice guy. He brought all the food out to me along with the entire napkin holder. He appropriately waited for about 15 minutes to bring me the dessert which was the Keylime Pie with strawberry sauce (on the side). I tell you the pie was fantastic - get it! I think Jim's Smokehouse is 5/5 overall. I would go again in a heartbeat.
