My iPhone battery died at Outside Lands. It was horrible timing, and I could not deal with going to the Apple Store. I made an appointment at Best Buy, and Kevin was amazing. They rescheduled the first time during my delivery day because they said the tv was not in stock. Today, when they were supposed to deliver, they just canceled mid delivery window. When I called they said they don't have the tv in stock. 1.5 months after ordering they don't have the product available yet they still sell it and schedule delivery times. Bought a camera from Best Buy that literally overheats and shuts itself off during normal use. When I returned it, the employee seriously told me overheating is "a feature, not a bug" -- while still charging a 15% restocking fee. Imagine paying hundreds in penalties for a defective experience that the store itself admits is "normal." Meanwhile Costco and Amazon manage returns without punishing customers for faulty products. Black Friday 2025 deals have been showing up via the Best Buy Website and though Apple will be providing gift certificates starting November 28, there was a Black Friday deal on AirPod 3 Pros at Best Buy so purchase made and store pickup arranged (added a Power Bank also which was also on sale). As for the store location, lots of easy parking, pickup counter well staffed with no waiting, and a pickup that took just moments once my telephone number, and identification had been provided to the personable employee at the desk. I also downloaded the Best Buy mobile application for good measure. Though I don't like shopping at a brick and mortar store, it's great being able to pickup my online purchases in person at a location with convenient parking, and a friendly staff. read more

Geek squad, would give 0 stars if I could (but for the management, not the tech Kevin, since he was actually really sweet and helpful!) I bought a laptop 2 years ago with the Microsoft bundle, including BB yearly tech support for $180. I never even opened up the PC box and I took everything to Best Buy today, and asked the Geek squad supervisor and manager if they would please honor the yearly tech support for $180, they both said no!! Super annoying since they took $180 from me but I never got to use it. And yes I know I was supposed to use it within the year, but c'mon now! You have records that I NEVER used it! As a funny turn of events-I go to buy a printer that same day and I'm told I still have this yearly warranty. So I was charged another $180 and didn't know it, since it auto renews. And the nice guy in the printer department said I could call into corporate and try and get a refund of the first years $180, even though I was told by both the Geek squad supervisor and the manager that their hands were tied and there was nothing they could do for me!! So 0 stars for the geek squad management for customer service, but 5 stars for Kevin the tech! He was able to get my PC up and running and I'm now good to go!! read more

After a few days of researching online and checking a few stores, we drove to Best Buy to check out a few options and the special deals they offered. When we arrived, a young man named Robert asked if we needed help. He patiently answered all our questions and provided the information we needed about the items on sale. He also offered a few very reasonable and helpful recommendations. We ended up purchasing what we needed at a much lower price, definitely cheaper than a few other stores and online options we checked. I recently shopped (online) at Best Buy because our washing machine suddenly started leaking. Delivery may have come from this store or the one in East Bay. At first, we thought it was our pipes or water connections, but after inquiring with a plumber neighbor, we determined it was leaking from our washing machine. Since we had the other machine for 10+ years, we just brought a new one instead of trying to find a repair person because there's no guarantees/warranty. Happened to be around Black Friday -- so we took advantage of the Sales! Pricing was competitive, we brought a new washing machine and add on: -delivery -installation, -extra parts (hose) -take away old washing machine All with some reasonable additional fees. A few days later, the delivery guys came while I was at work, but hubby was home and all got done. One team took away the old washing machine while the other team did the delivery + install. Great communication as they were texting me with ETA entire time. I would recommend Best Buy for appliance purchases. read more

I have been coming into this in particular Best Buy for many years. As of recently, the customer service in the store is a complete zero. They have no idea what customer service actually is anymore. They do not even smile in the store anymore. I had to go into the parking lot and call the customer service number to get things rectified, which they very happily took care of with no challenges at all. And we're very apologetic for how the store is acting and how the customer service in the store has went to a zero. I would have loved to give Best Buy my money today, but they made it physically impossible. I spent 20 minutes standing in front of a locked glass case waiting for someone to help me get a product. I asked three different employees for help; two told me they "weren't keyed for that department" and the third promised to find someone who was, only to never return. I eventually walked around the store to find a manager, but they were nowhere to be found. It's frustrating that stores complain about losing business to online retailers when they make the in-store experience this difficult. If you're going to lock your inventory behind glass, you need to actually have staff available to open it. Don't know if it was wildly efficient or a dust off: I came in with my son's ASUS gaming laptop to see if it could be fixed. The Geek Squad checked the warranty; just out of warranty by 5 weeks. *#%{ They said if we sent went forward to have it examined/fixed, shipping would further jostle the guts of it that were in danger of being exposed by its loose housing. They told my son to brace for being yelled at and to look for a new laptop. In the end they were right - but I wasn't convinced and sought a second repair evaluation. Bought an open box TV online, rented a truck to go pick it up about a week after ordering it and when I got there they tried to give me a TV that was broken. The manager came out and told me that it shouldn't have even been online in the first place, but they couldn't even take the time to notify me in the week prior to me coming to the store. The manager was totally unhelpful and told me he couldn't even honor the sale prices from the time when I made the original purchase on other TVs. I then bought a more expensive one (brand new) and set up delivery. A week later they're having a sale and luckily I delayed the delivery so I cancelled it and bought another one at the sale price. The manager should have mentioned the sales a week later, but didn't. Definitely not shopping here anymore. read more

Do not have Best Buy install your appliances! I ordered a dryer with installation. The Best Buy delivery team miswired the dryer, even though there is a color-coded diagram on the back of the dryer showing how to connect the 4 wires. They said it was a problem with the electrical circuit and to call an electrician. My electrician came out, confirmed that the circuit was fine, and showed me how the Best Buy team had miswired something a 10 year could do correctly (photos below). Best Buy customer service won't reimburse the electrician's bill. Worst experience ever! read more

I am a loyal customer of this branch's Geek Squad. They have helped me tremendously over the years. However, the last time I went there to have my desktop repaired, they erased all my files, including pictures and videos of my deceased father. When I complained, they shamelessly tried to convince me that there had been no files on my machine. They then offered to perform a deep recovery process, which they said would take a few days. After the deep recovery, they claimed to have "recovered" some of my files. In reality, none of the recovered files would open; they were corrupted and lost forever. The Geek Squad employee then asked me to sign a document stating that my machine had been repaired to my satisfaction. Of course, I refused and took my machine to leave. At that point, that horrible excuse for a human being had the audacity to call security on me--for taking my own machine home after they had ruined my files. When I got my package it had completely different items inside - Pokémon Cards.. lol and the slip was a piece of blank paper. I've been waiting over 10 days for a refund on an order that was stolen during delivery. The package arrived one day late and completely empty. I have evidence, including photos, and I called Best Buy on the same day (July 3) to report the issue. I have a long history of purchases with Best Buy, so I expected better treatment. The first representative told me a replacement would be sent. Instead, I received a cancellation email. Five days later, I called again and was told that they couldn't send a replacement because the product was no longer on promotion, and they would proceed with a refund. If I hadn't followed up, the issue would have been forgotten. On my third call, the agent said the case was finally being submitted for approval -- 11 days after the incident. Now, 12 days later, they're asking for pictures of something that happened almost two weeks ago. The empty box was already discarded -- luckily, I had taken some photos. Despite the long lines and difficulty finding an employee for assistance, the store is generally okay. I can usually find what I'm looking for, but often there's limited availability of products in stock. Apple support advised me to make an appointment at Best Buy for a replacement Beats earbud. Call me impatient but I didn't want to wait for it to be delivered to the store or my home because I hate having only one earbud. I thought it might be faster to get a replacement at Best Buy because they didn't have the bud in stock at the Apple Store. Unfortunately, that's not at all an option for me unless I have AppleCare+ or if it's within the warranty. The tech guy said, "They won't cover it without AppleCare+." This is something that Apple doesn't disclose on their website. Instead, their site states that they'll offer the option to sign up for AppleCare+ after the repair is done. I was only trying to get a replacement, but the tech guys kept referring to it as a "repair." Every time I said it's not a "repair" but a "replacement," he said, "I know, I'm just trying to see if we cover it without AppleCare+." There seems to be no differentiation between a "repair" and a "replacement," so Best Buy can't argue that I didn't read it carefully. I think since the pandemic, Best Buy has gotten lazy. I'll shop there when I have to and when I don't want to make the extra effort of going to the one on Geary (although that one probably isn't any better). read more

On Monday a team of two came out and disassembled/reassembled the grill and fixed the problems. We grilled chicked Monday night and all systems operated as expected. Everything seems good now and I am changing the rating from one star to three. Why only 3 stars? Well, read below, starting with the original post. Best Buy has great, "I understand and will make things right" serrvice representative scripts. Unfortunately, the reps don't seem to have the power to do anything except ask the computer to reschedule an installation. Most also don't follow up or follow through. Our good service came from "Magee", the rep who responded to my second (third?) set of messages in Facebook messenger. She got back to me several times and got the situation enough attention that I was assured that we would not get our original installers back AND a woman called with a four-hour service time frame a whole day earlier than the Best Buy standard. Thank you, Magee! But, serioiusly Best Buy. Look at the overall ratings you're getting. Have your own execs try calling or chatting to see how you're treating customers. Maybe stop engaging the low-bid installing company (this is just a snarky guess, but really the folks representing you in the field are apparently often not knowledgable). 6/5/24 ORIGINAL POST Yesterday we received a Weber grill and it was assembled by the delivery men. There are significant problems with the assembly and we need knowledgeable technicians to fix the problems. We have chatted with the Geek Squad support. The best they offered was a 12-hour appointment window five days from now. I called the Geek Squad and talked to a man who said he or his manager would not be able to do any better. I pressed him to let me talk to the manager. The manager was busy, he said, but he'd have the manager call me. That was 6 hours ago. Obviously not going to get a call. What was wrong with the delivery/assembly? * The crew left the slide-out grease tray on a nearby patio table and did not install in the BBQ cabinet. When I went to put it in the grill I found out why the crew did not do it. The yellow-capped wire was strung tightly in front of the opening for the grease tray. I had to unplug the yellow wire and re-route it away from the front of the grease tray. * No catch pan for grease was delivered or installed. * The wires to the igniter are very taught and obviously not installed correctly * The bottom of the inside cabinet is incorrectly assembled. The hole for the propane tank in on the right side of the cabinet but the scale to judge fullness in on the left. * The propane tank was not hooked up to the scale and, in fact, cannot reach the scale from the wrong side of the cabinet. The delivery/assembly folks volunteered that they were inadequately trained. One man said he'd received only 15 minutes of training and then pointed to a You-Tube video. I have had good delivery/installation experiences with other items, but, wow! They clearly are bottoming out. 6/8/24 UPDATE After I posted this review and similar comments on Google, Best Buy replied on Google on 6/5 that I should DM them on Facebook. I already had done that and received a quick reply that they would look into my issue. A day later I received a DM saying that they were escalating the issue to their "appliance fulfillment team" and I would hear back within 24 hours. Nope. I have heard nothing. Moreover the appliance people were one set of reps I had already talked to and they did nothing already. Best Buy's scripts sound soooo very customer oriented. But, their follow through is non existent. The reps all say that the "computer" won't let them or their manager change anything. Can we give 0 stars? read more

The first this the tech did was to confirm the specs on my computer and told me it would work. I made the purchase and he told me I would get the email to download my product in 15 mins. I didn't get it and went into the order to resend the email, I did that 3 more times and still didn't get the email for the download. I went back into the chat and spoke to the technicians. I was transferred to 3 or 4 different people who could not help me at all to see what why I was not getting an email with the product download And no one could help me. I then asked for a refund and was told NO. So now I don't have the product or the email and can't get a refund. So I went on to another site and purchased the upgrade, got it in 5 mins and found out that it won't work on my computer it's too old, sent a note to the company and they processed the refund immediately as the product was not used. Why is Best Buy such a piece of crap company and not going to refund a product I didn't even get? How does that work? What a piece of crap company. Anybody wondering why retail stores in SF seem to closing week by week come see to this Best Buy and watch it happen IN REAL TIME! I showed up pretty close to closing, my fault for not watching the time, but at least 10 minutes before closing to find groups of customers and firetrucks outside. Asked what happened, which they say "an emergency situation" and that they're closing early. Not so easily dissuaded - after all, I sure would love to spend this money - I ask why. Not much clarification, just "an emergency situation," and that they can't let people into the store until it's resolved. Sure, fair enough; not expecting a corporate wage slave bend over backwards to give me all the hot gossip of what just happened, didn't know what else I expected. More prospective customers arrive and are turned away. But still, I just really want to buy something, and maybe - just maybe - someone want's provide slightly more than the absolute bare minimum of required customer service. Customer after customer exits the store with purchases in hand, so I guess it wasn't THAT much of an emergency. The fire department exits the store and drives away. Time passes but it's still technically prior to posted closing time. Eventually a manager comes out and says that they're closed and I need to return at 10am tomorrow morning to transact any business. Not rudely, mind you. Which, again, fair. But if I wanted to wait til tomorrow I can get next day shipping TO MY HOUSE and having it by the time I wake up! The *ONE THING* a brick and mortar store has an advantage in - when it comes to selling electronics - IS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND INSTANT GRATIFICATION! Ten employees milling about after this "emergency" (didn't count, more or less guessing) running out the last 10 minutes of business, turning away customers who made the mistake believing that if they left their homes, got in their cars and drove to a business during their posted business hours - all when it's cheaper and easier to just click and order something at home - overcoming all this, we believed we could go somewhere and exchange money for good and services, only to be reminded once again that: NO. It's actually a waste of time - you're better off just ordering online. Just to be clear I find no fault with any particular employee, none of whom would have been empowered to help me out. A couple looked like they wanted to. They probably hate those jobs anyway. But I live in this neighborhood and 9 or 10 or 11 months from now, when this Best Buy is just another vacant boarded up shell, covered in waste, overrun by unhoused people and tagged to death me and my neighbors are the ones who are going to have to live next to it. I went to Best Buy store at 1717 Harrison St - San Francisco - 94103 - CA so I could buy a SD card for my personal usage. I was coming back from my overnight shift and had to get the product so I could get some rest. I've seen 2 persons opening the door and getting into the store so I just followed them. The sign outside said 11am - 7pm which but I failed to see it and just followed the 2 persons. On my turn a tall, white, blond hair, glasses on named Dimitri, closed the door at me and I asked him if the store was open and he promptly and sarcastically responded: Nooooo, it's not and pointed at the sign then giggled. There are multiple ways to give people the same information, sarcasm and mocking is not ok let alone it's very disrespectful. Treating people with respect is the least everyone must do. I'm pretty sure he looked at me and thought I'd steal the store, coz I'm black and hat on. I've lost the counts how many products I bought from Best Buy. I had a mixed experience at Best Buy. The 2 employee at the TV station around noon 12pm on 11/01 were professional, knowledgeable and helpful. However, the employee in the black collar at the order pickup table around 7:30 PM on 11/01 was unprofessional and rude. His attitude was off-putting and not what I expect from a Best Buy environment as the company typically upholds its high standard, but not this location. Customer service should be a priority, and this interaction definitely fell short. My advice for the employee is if you have honest opinions or concern about a purchase a client made, there's better way to communicate about it with the clients than how you did it. :-) read more
