As I was about to enter the building someone shouted, "you can't park there, it's not for you". So, I left unable to park. A pretty nice/well stocked restaurant supply store near portero hill. Just stopped by here with a friend and ended up picking up some decent cooking supplies for a good reasonable price. This is place is definitely more for those who run a business but for the everyday person you can if the occasional helpful kitchen tool of a good price. On my visit picked up a chefs knife and a baking pan for cheaper then what I found at target or amazon. The store layout is very basic but to the point. The service here was friendly and helpful. Big warehouse full of restaurant appliances, kitchen utensils, and anything you would need to open a business in the restaurant/cafe industry. The staff is knowledgable when it comes to any and all products, and you can even ask questions pertaining to installation, how to fix things, and what models might be the best for you (smaller/low voltage ones for smaller cafes and larger/higher voltage ones for big corporate restaurants). I had a great experience and was able to pick up a ventilation system for the restaurant within an hour. They are also extremely loyal to their returning customers (especially for large orders) and gave my family a large discount because we purchased a ventilation system 6 years ago. The only complain I had was that it was relatively busy, and the person who helped me write up the order, was extremely busy and it took a little longer than I would have liked. Regardless though, they were extremely professional and Mr. Kwong was able to be patient and listen though my parents yelling (which is saying a lot, if you know Cantonese parents) read more

I don't want to totally write them off, because they probably have a lot of unusual items, but I was not impressed by this place based on my one experience. I was having a large party, and excited to have an excuse to check out this place, since I've passed by it for years. Based on the name ("economy"!), the location (industrial-ish), and the fact that they touted their price guarantee, I figured this place would have good prices. Wrong. I went in looking for a punch bowl, as the ones I found online were ugly & expensive. The ones here I found to be... ugly & expensive. But then I spotted large glass jars. The jars were Anchor Hocking 2 gallon glass jars with lids. They were about $30 each from TriMark. Seemed expensive, but I figured that it was just what they cost. After all, TriMark did have a "price guarantee." I bought 2 jars, and when I got home, saw on the bottom of the boxes that they had a walmart.com sticker. Curious, I looked online at walmart.com and saw they were available -- no price listed (had to go to store to pick up), but I looked further online and Anchor-Hocking had them for sale for $16.99 (now on sale for $9.99). I then looked on Crate & Barrel and saw the same "Heritage Hill" jars for sale for $19.99. Yes, Crate & Barrel was significantly cheaper than TriMark, people. So I checked TriMark's "price guarantee" and it says if you can find a lower price at a *local* store, you can get a price adjustment. Since the Anchor-Hocking online store isn't local, I brought in the Crate & Barrel web page to show. The cashier wouldn't accept it, saying it has to be the same item. Even though the jars had the same model name and looked exactly the same. She sent me to the manager. The manager initially gave me some hassle, because he said "but you have to add on shipping to the Crate & Barrel price" and I said "no, there's a Crate & Barrel store a mile away from here. This is a local store." We went back & forth a couple of times on this. I'm really not sure why. Eventually, he relented and gave me a partial refund. Such a hassle and waste of time, but at that point, it was the principal of the thing. Lessons learned: - "Econony" is a huge misnomer. Do NOT let the name of this place fool you. - Crate & Barrel actually has some reasonably-priced stuff. - I should check out Walmart's kitchen supply area next time I'm near a store, because they apparently have some nice stuff that's probably really cheap - Make TriMark your *last* stop, not your first. Only if you can't find what you need elsewhere. Or at least, don't buy anything here without shopping around first. - Also, TriMark is kind of dirty. read more

Have shopped here in the past and always found what I needed and received great service. Find the *open* case on the shelf, count out 50, noted the price per case ($42/1,000) and hopped in line. Good to go, I think. WRONG. "Oh, sorry, you need to buy the whole case." "But, here's 50 - I'll pay more per mat - I need these for Thanksgiving." "Yeah, well. No." Poked around the web, found an offering of $12/500 of the exact same place mat. So Hey, Economy Restaurant Fixtures - I tried to buy local. Tried to work with you for my purchase. And instead of working with a customer, or at least being polite about having to buy by the case, you dismissed me because I wasn't buying in bulk, and was obviously not a restaurant merchant. I decided it was time to host Thanksgiving this year. One of the first things I decided about this was that I would brine the traditional turkey and smoke it in the backyard. Economy Restaurant Fixtures was first on the list of places that I needed to go to get my brining game together. You see, they have pretty much anything you would ever need to put together a food operation, whether we're talking about salt and pepper shakers in bulk, cutting boards, chef uniforms, cleaning supplies, stoves, popcorn machines, glasses, flatware, plates, whatever. If you need a salad spinner for a salad that will feed 30, this is the place. If you need a Lodge cast iron pan for carmelizing 10 onions, this is the place. If you need a hot dog warmer a la Seven Eleven, look no further. I was looking for a large container to put my turkey in that would fit in my fridge. They have that category completely killed. They have square vessels from 2 quarts to 22 quarts that hit the spot. You can probably get some service if you talk to the people at the desk, but in general it is assumed that you know what you're doing in this place. Like somebody already said, you are not at Williams Sonoma. It is a basic place with some serious selection and reasonable prices. Most of the things I would go in there for aren't going to be for sale at Target, so it's hard to say if they're the cheapest in town, but the prices all seem reasonable to me. Also, as far as I know, since I'm not in the restaurant business, the only day I can go in there is Saturday. You might get away with BSing someone into letting you buy stuff during the week, but if you try it, you're on your own. read more

Huge industrial 12 burner stove? Gigantic mixers? Frying stations? Huge freezers? 150 quart stock pots? This place has it all and had me walking around like a kid in a candy store. Except for one thing: really high prices. Yes, this place is the anti Williams-Sonoma / Sur La Table in the sense that they are more focused on function than form and you are not going to see middle aged home makers working here for the discount, but the prices are still just as high. An example: i saw a fry basket here for $85 and 30 minutes later saw that same fry basket (like the exact same fry basket, blue rubber handle and everything) at Forest Restaurant Supply for $20. It's a fun place to visit, but i really don't see myself buying anything here...ever. read more

We have used Trimark for the majority of our needs for our program (100's of thousands of $) Trimark seems to have a very difficult time: 1) Getting the orders correct 2) Entering the orders 3) Ensuring the delivery of orders 4) Following up on orders that have not been received 5) Having a log of what you have ordered in the past They have all the tools they need to be successful but whoever handles and or manages their sales department is reminiscent of a parent that regrets they had children. I don't know what station they had it on, but it was playing all the hits. Who knew pots could be so big, or expensive? I guess I suspected. The place was pretty busy for a Saturday. If you love to yelp and you've given a few restaurants 1 or 2 stars, then you should come here and equip your home kitchen professionally and yelp yourself. This place has all the goods for your restaurant start-up or if you just like to use industrial quality kitchen equipment. You can get every thing from 6 pans to giant burr mixers to ice sculpture molds. And the containers that you get here isn't like the Tupperware you get at your local grocery store, you can get high quality polycarbonate containers that won't absorb the flavors of your spoiled marinara sauce thats been sitting in the back of your fridge for the past month. I've been out of the industry for a few years, and now work for a shipping company whose name I won't mention only that their initials are FDX, anyways I just recently made a delivery there and the sales person recognized me in my uniform, that impressed me. If you can't find what you need then they can probably get it from looking at the giant carousal of catalogs by the registers. read more

They even called a cab for us so we could get home with our new shelving unit. The cost was under $200 and we purchased 6 shelves - 1 1/2' x 4' x 6'. This place is titillating for any aspiring cook! They have tons of great supplies with a good breadth of sizes. For example, three sizes of cheese graters, and a huge whisk that went from the floor to my waist! (someone would have to be serious about scrambled eggs to buy that thing!). The staff are very congenial and quite helpful, which is a bonus. It is a warehouse for restaurants, so the decor is not fancypants like Williams Sonoma or Sur La Table but I'd rather shop here out of convenience -- it is near my workplace and I can avoid going downtown. I'd say the pricing is about average retail rates for most things like utensils and kitchenware. You can also check out the random things like stoves, breadbaskets, fryers, china and chalkboards? This place is awesome. We bought a stainless-steel cart from IKEA and really wanted a nice John Boos butcher block top. We called all over the Bay area and prices were somewhat high. Most of the "butcher block" was for kitchen counters and not really what we wanted (not maple, lacquered, etc.). Decided to stop in Economy Restaurant Fixtures on our Saturday morning run -- we were a bit sweaty, but that didn't seem to phase our salesperson. He even let me use his tape measure :) They carry John Boos butcher block tops in different sizes. We got exactly what we wanted and got a great deal to boot! Service was fantastic!
