These guys are fine. I own a production company and we use a bunch of weird electrical connectors and most of the time they have it in stock. If not, they have it ready for you the next day. There are a number of industrial grade electrical dealers and outlets in the city and the competition is good. It keeps the prices competitive and B & K Electrical has good pricing. The people there are also knowledgeable and have helped me along the way with explanations and tips. It's a good outfit. read more

Prices seem high. I can't tell if they bump prices for walk up retail customers or if they're just expensive. Given the number of contractors in there, I suspect the former. I bought a motion sensor there for $65 and a fluorescent tube plus a halogen bulb for $21. But what really floored me is when they refused to take back the old fluorescent tube for recycling. They told me to go to Home Depot for that. These jokers must not have realized they're operating in San Francisco in the 2015. If nothing else they have a moral obligation to take these back and dispose of them properly, mercury content and all. I certainly won't be buying anything else here. read more

First to review? This is a gem of a cramped electrical supply store. They have everything within like a half acre, it's amazing. Now they do have to get somewhat vertical and some things can be challenging - but they've always had what I want - that's unusual. You may wait awhile for help if you don't know how to drive in Japan though. read more

This place was great. Our home has some old breakers and the local hardware store did not carry it. They referred me to B&K and I happened to get into a conversation with the owner. No sure if he was "B" or "K", but he was friendly, helpful, and fun. Not sure I will have to go there in the future as this is a place for commercial contractors, but if you have any electrical needs that others can address, this is the place for you. read more

I needed a replacement circuit breaker and called the business to confirm that they had the right one. After speaking with the gentlemen for a few minutes and giving him all the specifications he asked for, he confirmed that they had the circuit breaker. 30 minute drive later, I show up to be told that they actually don't have it. Two little words: STAY AWAY! I shopped B & K twenty years ago and found what I needed at a fair price. Went back recently and was thoroughly DISGUSTED with their attitude toward walk-in non-trade customers. The Chinese woman behind the counter was likewise disgusted with bothering to talk with me. Hoping to turn me away, she made it abundantly clear that they cater to the electrical trade and would appreciate it if everybody else stayed away. Pressed to offer more assistance, she reluctantly showed me items that were clearly NOT what I was hoping to find, until it was clear that they didn't carry what I was looking for: a simple battery tester. Big clue: JUST STAY AWAY! I'll never go back. Hint: just go around the corner to Discount Builders Supply! Even when they tell you up front at the service desk that they don't have battery testers, the truth is that they DO! read more

Complete rip off. I wanted wire for my LED lights. Guy at cash register talks me into 18/2 wire. 20 feet -- $36 + tax. I stop at Lowes to buy a paintbrush and the SAME wire (custom cut) is sold there for $.18 per foot -- less than $4 I like to shop local and all, but for 10x (exactly) the price? Complete rip off. I will never be back and suggest you go elsewhere. read more

I am a electrician . And I go to electrical supply's in the city at list twice a day to buy electrical materials for my jobs. Specially when there is no Home Depot in the city. I stop to go to this one because customer service is so bed ,maybe they have a lots of parts in stock but you could be there for solid 10 min. and not even been noticed. They do take care of there account holders first, and you being left a side. For those who are not electricians use other sources to buy light bulbs. Not recommending use this supply. read more

This is family run business and they been supplying electrical parts to both professionals and consumers. They understand San Francisco Electrical Code and are very helpful in explaining and troubleshooting issues. I have saved over $20,000 over the past 4 years just by asking Dennis and his son for advise without paying for a professional electrician service. I do the work myself and pay an electrician to pull the permit and pass inspection. I donated $5,000 to SPCA because I love dogs and I want every dog to eat New York Steak. You see how the Circle of Life works? Good things comes around and go around if you stay with the right people. God Bless Dennis and his son and hope you all can do the same. read more

I needed new lenses for my fluorescent under cabinet kitchen light fixtures. Home Depot and Lowes told me they could not be purchased separately and I'd have to buy new fixtures. But thankfully B&K had them for a very reasonable price. Service was extremely friendly and professional. They have all kind of lightbulbs and all manner of electrical stuff here. An excellent alternative to having to drive to a big box hardware store for said items! read more

Every time I go here, these folks are super helpful, especially the father of this seemingly family owned business. Once he helped me bend some plumbing pipe. Cant say this is something he will do again, but he did it for me, and it was a back buster. Today I needed something small and saw me outside. They had just closed. He clearly did not recognize me, but asked me if I needed something. He reopened the store and had his son assist me. The times I've asked for advice or guidance, they've been responsive and informed. These folks deserved an endorsement. read more

I went to B & K hoping to find a spare part for an old NuTone recessed light fixture from the 80s. They didn't have it, but it was kind of a long shot anyway. The guy behind the counter was really motivated to help though. He went and rummaged around in the back room and came back with the closest thing he could find, and then he gave various suggestions for how I could make it work. The part I needed was almost certainly discontinued a long time ago, so he pretty much did everything he could for me. This was a good experience, even if I didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I'd go back for sure. read more

BUYER BEWARE! I bought an intercom system and asked at the time of purchase whether it was returnable. They said "yes" as long as it was with a receipt and within 30 days and re-saleable. After only 7 days, 2 electricians and $200+ in labor fees, the last technician determined that it was a faulty system, and THEY WOULD NOT TAKE IT BACK (even with a receipt and boxed up as it was at the time of purchase!
